An old miner not seeing my held lantern

I am trying to learn to mine, I am wielding pickaxe, wearing the right gloves, and holding lantern, I tried with mirrored lantern too and got the same reaction. The old fool keeps telling me to hold the lantern, I've tried a dozen times. Here is the log, please have a look:

I believe you need a mirrored lantern.

Drummuck said that the issue comes from having mirrored lanterns in your inventory. So check that next time. Hopefully Imms can fix it

So, I need to have only the one mirrored lantern held, and no more in inv? I'll try, thanks

So said god king Drummuck. I would just empty my inventory

It stems from a piece of mobol that is trying to be helpful, two separate pieces of mobol here:
*one checks to see if you are holding the mirrored lantern
*one checks to see if you have it it your inventory and gently prompts you to hold it if you forgot to hold it
The way its written it wont even execute the first mobol if the second one triggers.

Thank you all, the problem was indeed having lanterns in inventory, even when I was holding the right mirrored lantern. It worked. Thanks!
