EXPLAINED: White Tower Library Issues

Post by Penzei » Tue Jul 20, 2021 2:08 pm

**** UPDATED ****

I've had two issues with the new White Tower Library:

#1 issue
"The Rise of Andor" book has no where to be shelved.
Below is a log of me hitting EVERY room in the library. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the item or the library itself.
A couple things to note:
The Sixth Depository Room you cannot shelve any books (refer to the log below)
The Eleventh Depository Room you also cannot shelve ANY books (refer to the log below)
The only room in the library you cannot get to is the one supposedly south in the "Restricted Section". There is no discernable way to open the southern door. When grabbing "The Rise of Andor" it also didn't say it's a restricted book so I'm not sure that matters.

#2 Issue

Last night I got a book that told me to go to the restricted section and I did everything correct and the door opened and I went in and it told me that book didn't go in there no matter what I did. I also found it is impossible to get the southern door open (unless there is some magical command I'm unaware off which to be fair is entirely possible). Both doors are named Irongrate. Knock 2.irongrate doesn't open it. Neither does knock south.

Log session starting at 13:51:59 on Tuesday, 20 July 2021.

The First Depository
The twin walls of enormous bookcases encircling the room meet at the
northern wall. An aisle is open between two bookcases to the south, but the
wooden controlling wheels set into their ends turn easily to allow the
shelves to slide left or right along tracks laid into the floor. The
compression of the aisles allows a much larger number of books to be stored
in limited space. The only exit is back along the shelves to the south. A
small sign printed over the shelves provides a list of their contents.

Center of the First Depository
Tall bookcases of a dark, polished wood line the walls of this long, oval
room. One of the biggest depositories in the library, the First Depository
is dedicated entirely to history. Several sliding bookcases have been
installed on the center floor, a large, spoked wheel set into each,
allowing them to be slowly rotated to open an aisle. A small warning sign
is printed above the wheels. Each shelf has a large plaque set near the
top, with a series of numbers that presumably details its contents.

Giant shelves of tomes are sandwiched against one another, each resting
atop a number of parallel tracks set into the floor. Each monstrous shelf
has a wooden device that resembles a ship's wheel sticking out of its end.
Repeated turnings of the wheel will slide that shelf and all those next to
it a span in either direction. This process opens up aisles between
formerly impenetrable stacks, allowing access to the books within. A sign
mounted on the end shelf indicates the content of the shelves.

The Twelfth Depository
This depository is home to a collection of works that appears to be partly
in scroll form. Some of the bookcases in this room are noticably different
than in the other depositories, consisting of diamond shaped recepticles,
each containing several rolls of paper. The scrolls are all copies of
various treaties between nations. Each nation has its own section, some of
which are sparsely populated, such as the Borderland countries. The section
on the nations of Tarabon and Arad Doman, however, contains a plethora of
scrolls. Other bookcases in the room contain tomes on the subject of law.

A narrow iron grate and a thin railing are all that separate the second
story of bookshelves from the first. Only a few spans overhead, the
wood-paneled ceiling of the library arches up to the west, terminating at
the top of the bookshelf-wall immediately to the east. The nearest shelved
books are all titled with names of far-off and exotic places- travels among
the Seafolk, accounts of encounters in the Aiel Waste, a log of a voyage to
the secret fishoil shoals of Mayene. The catwalk continues to the south,
and the stairway down to the first floor of the library lies to the west.

A pair of double doors containing small square glass panes keeps draft and
moisture ouf of this entrance hall. Two spiralling, cast iron staircases
with railings depicting a variety of leaves and fruits lead up to the upper

each with a gilded tablelamp and writing supplies stand in the hallway,
allowing the librarians to prevent visitors to the library from taking any

The two hallways meet at a cavernous rotunda which is crowned by an
enormous dome of pale white stone. Stone ribs reach out from the top of

which serves as the foundation of the dome. To the east and west lie long
straight halls with many doors. A large room with open doors lies to the

High tables scattered about the end of the room serve as display stands for

There are several which are quite complicated, and whose function may only
be discovered upon researching the proper text. The most ingenious are also
the simplest, including a large tower with a pinwheel attached, using the
wind to power a grindstone, and a small, but fully functional model of a
method for raising water to the top of a building using a series of screws.

the three room on the west wall have 3 different sections each room that you can "turn handle" to access, if you found the right room but it doesnt then you would need turn handle then shelve book again, and keep repeating till it goes in.

Alternatively, you can just spam shelve book 20-30 times in each of those three rooms whenever you get a history based one and it should go in

OKAY! I figured it out but it's not cool if you mess it up there is no PERCEIVED way to access the way to the south again if you don't choose right the first time. So if you good the book The Three Arches, and you go north but don't make it back south again before the mobol closes the door then you are screwed because you can't get the door to the south open again! The Librarian opens both doors with the pass BUT if you knock on the irongrate there is no way to open the SOUTH door after that.

You give a pass to enter the Restricted section of the library to the Tower librarian.

Yes, always try the southern one first. You can "knock" open the northern one, but not the southern one.
