I've seen this in a few other places recently. My guess:

Yes I thought the same thing, but most mobol I've seen before is not this sensitive

This has been fixed. The coachman will instead clean out the room after each coach ride instead of trying to prevent you from dropping or hiding items (Carinya was correct on what was happening here).
