The Gho'lam Warden in TKD says to "call" the Tear fade irondoor to enter it, and pull sconce to exit.

Calling the irondoor does not cause it to open. Nor does knocking. (This prevents completing the Gho'lam's quest.)

Just tested it and it works fine. Use call irondoor and not just call like you do on citygates

Good to know but IMO that is still broken - it's not intuitive or consistent with other uses of the command.
