Ack. Is this what an Ogier gets for carrying around with him all of his (random) belongings?
Note: this was an efficient way to reduce the weight I was carrying.

Edit: someone pointed out that I could retrieve the saddlebags from the horses inventory. Thanks! I was still wondering if there were a way to make the saddlebags respond to horseeq, though.

Whitish grey hair covers the horse from ear to hoof, shining dully. Tall
and strongly built, the stallion looks like a fast horse, though unused
to constant attention.

if you remove the saddle before the saddlebags the saddlebags go into the horses inventory, especially with stuff in them you basically need to kill the horse then you can loot your saddlebags

its an annoying bug but there ya go

Also stabling horse will have bags drop in room if I remember correctly

This is an annoying feature but it is true. It is especially annoying when stabling in Amador if the little girl is hanging out in the stables. She is known to pick up anything off the ground almost instantly!

I wonder if it is coding or if there is a way that the stablehand could give you your saddlebags like he does with the rest of the horse's equipment.

This is really only annoying for clan horses since most people don't stable them. I usually just kill the horse to get the bag back.

Yeah, that's coding.

Also, saddlebags already have the horseeq keyword. It's more likely that in the eq order they are below the saddle (belt) and thus the saddle gets removed first.

at least then you have to consciously choose to use them

Unfortunately, those eq tags exist for imm convenience too, so removing the horseeq tag is out.

Best solution is to just make sure you stable your horse and pick up the bag. Worst part is if a mob picks it up before you can. Wonder mob pickup can be looked at? Maybe make them not pick up someone's saddlebags, if possible.

Can't test atm - are saddles belts and saddlebags belt packs or do horses have special slots? Make saddlebags worn on back and not need a saddle if it puts it higher up in the horse's "eq list"? Surely you could string a bag over a horse without a saddle if it needs RP justification? Idk, just an idea.
