CODING: Explained: being led into a DT

Post by Tarkon Viera » Sun Oct 23, 2016 6:20 pm

Benjen leaves up.
You follow Benjen.

Approaching a Collapsing Ledge
This wall of rock is full of ledges, making it a relatively easy climb to this
point. However, the cold wind blows from all directions, creating a terribly
strong and freezing current. The wind might even gain the strength to throw you
off the ledges and to your doom, so though the ledges are easy to reach and
climb, the weather conditions are a considerable risk. Continuing upward would
be suicidal, due to the wind and the fact that the larger ledge above seems to
be more than ready to collapse, sending anyone on it falling a long way down.

Benjen the Sheriff of Andor is standing here.
A gray palfrey has arrived from below.
A warhorse has arrived from below.
Andraad has arrived from below.
A warhorse has arrived from below.

Benjen leaves up.
Benjen narrowly avoids a certain death, and retreats back to safety...
You follow Benjen.

Collapsing Ledge
With a loud crack the ledge beneath you collapses under your weight, sending
you falling down the mountainwall along with boulders of stone. Freezing wind
blows at you from below during the fall, biting at your skin. After a long
painful fall, you suddenly crash down on jagged rocks and everything goes dark.
[ obvious exits: D ]
You are dead! Sorry...
You stop following Benjen.
Circle of Light
High amidst the heavens, the Circle of Light is the hallowed ground of the
friends of the Light. From here, some of the major destinations around the
world can be reached, as shown by a large sign. A permanent fountain in the
center of the Circle gives a soothing backdrop to ponder mortal matters.

New characters should LOOK NAMES, HELP RULES, LOOK NOTICE and LOOK INTRO.

To obtain some free starting equipment, TELL GUARDIAN KIT.

It is strongly recommended that new players look at our website
at wotmud.org, before starting out, for the rules, maps, and more.

If you are here due to a pk and your pracs were reset because of it,
you can put your time in the Circle to good use by going north to
the Lightside practice area. Practices do not include channeler.
You will need to go to your appropriate in-game area to
practice weaves.

[ obvious exits: N D ]
The waters of a blue-veined marble fountain pour forth here.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
Hangin of Shienar is standing here.
A kind-faced figure stands here.
Andraad arrives suddenly, looking dazed and confused.

It has been a thing for a long time with % DTs. If the leader succeeds in avoiding it, the followers end up following in and dying, I think without any chance to avoid it. See also: the fantastic log of I think Club DTing his entire group in King of Illusions.
