Crier XP Scalps
I've been playing around with the new crier XP scalp update, and wanted to ask if only mobs scalped in certain zones counted? The EF Crier accepted the Female rogue scalp from Hobrian area, but not from Rolands (I think it was the same mob, at least). But then there are ones like Remen, Aringill, and Alindaer where I got the scalp from a nearby zone and it didn't count.
Here's the ones that didn't give a level:
You give the death scalp of a three-needle pine slain in Altara to the Remen town crier.
You give the death scalp of a two-headed serpent slain in Andor to the Alindaer town crier.
You give the death scalp of a man slain in Cairhien to the Maerone town crier.
You give the death scalp of a frightened young thief slain in the Hills of Kintara to the Aringill town crier.
You give the death scalp of a thief slain in Andor to the Glancor town crier.
You give the death scalp of a greedy thug slain in Andor to the Alindaer town crier.
You give the death scalp of the giant tarantula slain in the Braem Wood to the Cairhien town crier.
You give the death scalp of a plains rogue slain in the Braem Wood to the Emond's Field town crier.
You give the death scalp of a burly bandit guard slain in the Caralain Grass to the Baerlon town crier.
You give the death scalp of a greedy thug slain in Andor to the Illian town crier.
Thanks for any guidance, to see if I am doing it right or not.

Also, when I was on a brand newly create character, the Caemlyn crier would not give crowns when given spectacles or rat scalp. It says the character had already done it, when they hadn't (new).
You give the death scalp of a rat slain in Andor to the Caemlyn town crier.
The Caemlyn town crier thanks you heartily.
The Caemlyn town crier says 'Thanks, but you've already done this!'

Re: Crier XP Scalps
Could be that someone had used the name in the past, done those quests, and the character had deleted making the name available again. If I recall correctly, criers are weird in that they will remember names in those situations. Also, when I was on a brand newly create character, the Caemlyn crier would not give crowns when given spectacles or rat scalp. Re: Crier XP Scalps
All scalps are area specific to go along with the idea that criers get people familiar with the areas near where they're exploring.
Otherwise, Adael's right about the second part. It notes completion by the original name when someone has statted a character and then let it delete.
I'll double check on the examples you gave to see if I made a mistake in it and re-confirm though.

Re: Crier XP Scalps
I'm imagining that wherever this info is recorded for names and crier quests has to be like a million rows of data lol. Every character name that's ever completed a crier quest...Feneon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 4:11 pmAll scalps are area specific to go along with the idea that criers get people familiar with the areas near where they're exploring.

Thank youAll scalps are area specific to go along with the idea that criers get people familiar with the areas near where they're exploring.

You give the death scalp of a thief slain in Illian to the Illian town crier.
You give the death scalp of a two-headed serpent slain in the Black Hills to the Alindaer town crier.
You give the death scalp of a three-needle pine slain in Altara to the Remen town crier.
Re: Crier XP Scalps
I tested Remen and it worked. It's looking for the pine in that zone.Gesin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 9:58 pmThank youAll scalps are area specific to go along with the idea that criers get people familiar with the areas near where they're exploring.I figured that was likely the case, it is very understandable. Here are three where I got the scalp in what I figured would be a reasonable area (ie: nearby), but didn't get an award. I really like this new feature.

The Remen town crier checks his notes...
It would not have been correctly rewarding XP, but now it will.
Tar Valon is looking for a different two-headed serpent. You headed too far off trail!
Illian quests have been updated to the correct quest. Those quests are 'a dark skinned man' and 'a ramshorned trolloc'.
Re: Crier XP Scalps
would it be possible to include the zone name in the description when giving the quests? It may seem obvious to someone who knows where all the mobs are in each zone and knows which one you are referring to, but if this is designed at a new player who is exploring, then something like the personal trainer exp scalps can do a lot to clarify whether it is a bug or whether they have the wrong spot, for reference:
{
A personnel trainer says 'They will require you to fight, kill and scalp various opponents across Andor, the Braem Wood, the Hills of Kintara, the Caralain Grass and the Black Hills.'
A personnel trainer says 'Look around the Caralain Grass for a smuggler chief and a curious animated statue.'
}
is very clear and descriptive and gives a manageable direction in which to explore without giving anything away or being too open/impossible to guess.

Re: Crier XP Scalps
When you get the chance, could you look into the Glancor one? It is asking for a thief. Any chance it might be looking for A hardened man (responds to thief) instead? Thanks for the sanity check.
Re: Crier XP Scalps
All of the names that it is looking for are names of mobs in the area. E.g. 'a thief is in excellent condition' on the look at mob screen.
For that thief you will need your notice on, but it is near one of the other spots.
Good suggestion Arston, when I revisit this I will tackle it. These scalps are supposed to be a quick and dynamic way for a new player to engage the game and experience a felt reward for accomplishing something. Hopefully, for them, that search does that.
I do not know if suggestions like look in the Caralain Grass area would be more difficult. I have opted, at this time, to chose proximity for reward to crier. Fair points though.
