Background
Born from a dalliance between a noble and a maid, Wanda’s arrival was seen as a sure course for disaster and her mother was abruptly forced to give Wanda’s care to her aunty who presented the image of a loving and motherly figure. This was not the case and Wanda spent her early years roaming the Maule and Chalm districts, running with young hoodlums and getting into trouble with shop owners, dock workers and in turn earning the notice of the Defenders of the Stone.
A young Bannerman of the Defenders had a pointed conversation with Wanda’s carer imparting the importance of pulling the wayward child in. Wanda’s Aunt advised the handsome young Defender she would do just that and unbeknownst to soldier gave Wanda’s care over to a Tairen brothel owner. Wanda’s duties included hauling water, assisting in the kitchen and with cleaning around the premises.
As Wanda aged, many patrons, particularly the wealthy and odious started becoming more aware of Wanda and it was inevitable that she was pressed into service. As time passed on Wanda found her chance and with the aid of a local shopkeeper fled the brothel and was holed up in the annex of a warehouse in the Chalm district. Though somewhat safe from her former masters, Wanda still needed coin to survive and slipped back into the trade she knew best.
During an unfortunate business transaction with a young farmer in the Tavar market district Wanda felt unusually threatened and lashed out with the One Power. Spikes of ice flew from Wanda’s hands and sliced the farmers face, forcing him to retreat with a started cry and a barrage of curses. Wanda understood Tairen distrust of channelers and fled from Tear boarding the River Stork and paying to passage to Tar Valon in an attempt to find safety and to seek answers.
Embracing the True Source comes without effort to Wanda, however her control is pitiful, and channeling comes with great difficulty and often unintended results. When Wanda feels threatened her natural ability shines and she becomes much more capable in defending herself. Wanda is uncertain about her place within the White Tower and wears her emotion on her sleeve.
Wanda is fast at forming meaningful relationships with other women and although she has suffered repeatedly in the uncaring embrace of many men, she still has wandering eyes for a handsome face.
