Background
Faith was born near the city of Illian, the only child to a poor family of farmers. From a young age, she displayed a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge. She spent many hours reading and re-reading the few spare books her father managed to collect for her. Opposite her academic traits, Faith exhibited a strong sense of adventure and love of nature that drew her outdoors. She spent much of her youth exploring the forests and wetlands north of the city, observing wild animals and learning about plants and the ecosystem.
When Faith was sixteen, she had a life-changing experience that would shape the course of her future. During a hike she stumbled upon an injured hawk with a broken wing. She soothed the wary animal as best she could, and then instinctively reached out to touch it. In that moment, a warm glow surrounded her, and the hawk was healed and flew away. Afterwards, Faith realized that she was a woman who could touch Saidar, the female half of the One Power.
Shocked by her experience, Faith set out to learn more about her powers and her place in the world. She traveled to the White Tower in Tar Valon, home of the Aes Sedai, women who could channel the One Power. There, she was accepted as a Novice and began her training in earnest. Despite strong natural talent, Faith struggled with the strict discipline and hierarchy of the White Tower, often getting into trouble for her wild nature and a tendency to bend the rules.
As long years passed, Faith's hard work and stubborn dedication slowly began to win out over her unruly temperament, notwithstanding the occasional misstep. She was eventually promoted to the rank of Accepted, a major milestone on her journey and goal of becoming an Aes Sedai. She knew one day she would gain full use of her abilities to help others and make a difference in the world, and she remained committed to that goal even as the shadows of the Dark One began to gather once again.
