Description
Kordin is an average looking old man. Head bald, shaved mostly with a few spots where hair does not grow anymore. A consequence of a few mishaps during his time as an apprentice. His beard is forked in a Kandori fashion, gray-streaked and soot stained almost always.
His skin is slightly tanned, a burn mark and scar here and there, mostly on hands, neck and face. Dark green eyes are accompanied by bags under them, another sign of age and experience.

Background
Kordin was born in Herot's Crossing in the long gone nation of Malkier. His mother was Kandori and father Malkieri. When the Shadow began to conquer Malkieri, his father made the final stand along with the King at Herot's Crossing, while his mother took him south towards Shienar. As the Blight won and grew, his mother decided to move from Shienar back towards Kandor. An illness began to take hold of her on the journey and the Kandori merchant caravan stopped in Jakanda in hopes of finding a healer, but none was in town at the time.

They were out at the border with Blight, tending to soldiers who were injured keeping the Shadow from taking more of the Borderlands. With no help, her condition quickly deteroirated and she passed. The other Kandori merchants took Kordin with them and he grew up moving from one place to another, as the merchants traveled around the world.

At the age of seventeen he decided to travel on his own, not finding the merchant's life appealing. He was passing through Maerone in Cairhien one evening when he saw the night's sky light up with countless sparks and colors, thundering sounds accompanying the breath-taking display.

He noticed a distinguished gentleman with a long black beard, standing in the middle of Maerone, with long black and gray hair fashioned in Arafelling locks. As Kordin made his way through the crowd, the Illuminator turned to him, tipped his hat and with a grin lit up another firework.

The display of Nightflowers that evening left Kordin speechless and wanting more, wanting to learn what exactly they are and how to make them. The Illuminator, called Vayus, told him about the Guild and where to find them. Kordin rode the next morning and another Illuminator by the name of Javura, a woman with burnt braids and various minor burns all over her face, took him on as her Apprentice.

Studying and working hard, burning a lot, hurting even more, and doing community service in various places where he attempted his first displays of the Guild's work, all eventually led to him becoming a full member of the Guild. With time and more of the aforementioned trials and tribulations, and some triumphs, he became a Master on the High Council, and then in charge of the Chapter House in Tanchico where he attempted to keep it as safe as possible while the Seanchan Empire conquered it's way into Tarabon and the western part of the city, and the mercenary group known as Civil Watch barely protected anyone but their pockets and occasionally the Panarch.

With younger blood arriving in the Guild, he decided to step down afer years as the Chapter House Master, and have the Guild appoint someone else in his place. Now he simply travels the world, enjoying a semi-retirement, and seeking further inspiration for his work while also intentionally or accidentally getting into all sorts of adventures and trouble.
