Full name: Astraea sur Mer
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Place of birth: Mayene

Female Channeler
Element Strength: Water/Earth

Relationships
Father: Gendar sur Mer.
Mother: Aster.
Siblings: None.

Description

A short, powerfully built red-haired woman catches your glance as she moves through the Halls of the White Tower. Sharp green eyes upon a weathered face look at you quizzically, before she breaks out in a welcoming smile. Upon a closer look, ink stains blot her clothing and her disheveled hair lead you to think this one was up late studying.

Behavior
Bad Habits: Cursing, drinking ale. Coarse words.
Hobbies: Wood-carving, sketching, and softly singing sea shanties (badly, she can't sing for squat).
Demeanor: Pragmatic.

Mental Characteristics
Fears: Falling into swampwater and being dragged down by soetam.
Life Goals: A life goal is very hard to have when struggling day to day. Her time in the White Tower may serve to change that goal as her world broadens.
Self-Confidence: Very high.

Background:

Born in the City-State of Mayene, Astraea spent the youth of her life playing on the docks and ships her father worked. She had a keen eye for the weather, and her father often joked she must have been blessed by the sea. This inevitably led to her serving on a ship a fisherwoman. Many years out at sea helped to build her muscles and confidence, as well as sharpen her wit. Her thirst for knowledge also led her to learning to read and write, as well as learn how to navigate and fill in that role when needed.

On one journey into the Sea of Storms, the ship took on a set of passengers. While this was not something that happened often, there were cases before when some person of interest wanted to see the sea up close. They usually paid well, too. Astraea would take to the crows nest on this voyage, basking in the wind and calling out which way to steer the ship. She loved being there, high up in the wind and sails. It was very much a surprise when the pair of passengers identified themselves as Aes Sedai, and that her uncanny eye for the weather was simply her using the One Power to make the gusts of wind or clear the skies.

At first, Astraea refused to believe. But, the pair of Aes Sedai tore down her denials with truths and tests that she could not refute. The stark reality was that she was a woman with the talent, and if she didn't learn to control that talent then she could be a danger to herself and others. After that, it was a swift goodbye to her parents and a long ride to the White Tower and Tar Valon.

Her adjustment within her new home has been problematic at times, as she has no true experience with fine conversation or subtlety. But her desire to learn all there is to know of Saidar, and her understanding of the duty of what being brought to the Tower fuels her steps forward. She will not rest until she proves herself capable.
