All participants including the teach have already been awarded (fyi the Imm system also allows attended sisters to be dismissed from the class granting 1 qp each to the sisters. It does not work for the teacher or initiator of the mobol.)
In the Classroom
A board of black slate hangs on the wall near the door, suggesting this
room is used as a classroom. The room is plain and windowless and has
enough place to seat thirty students. A dais with a desk sits at the front
of the room, where the Aes Sedai or Accepted teaching the class can sit.
[ obvious exits: W ]
Zone: White Tower Upper Floors
Door west: door
The corpse of Bliral is lying here. (Decided to attack a room of not so helpless women..)
Nori the Wearied Novice is standing here.
Bena Tazeri Tower Accepted, Apprentice of the Green Ajah is standing here.
Lady Divina Souvraya is standing here.
Annika Ravenlocke, Journey Accepted is standing here.
Navani La'Mera Journey Accepted is standing here.
A haughty young woman strides by practicing Aes Sedai serenity.
Chloro clears throat from the back of the room and adjusts her shawl.
Nori discards a few nasty looking cloth bandages and takes her seat towards the front of the class.
Chloro glides to the front of the classroom, an easel standing next to the desk, the top sheet a pin wheel of the seven Ajah colors. "Please all be seated. I request you keep all questions till the end of the lesson. Also, as times have changed and many dangers can stalk the Halls of the tower, you are permitted to eat and drink as needed.”
Annika takes a seat next to the corpse, generously allowing it to cheat of her notes.
Navani sits down in a chair.
Bena take her seat.
Navani sits down.
Chloro looks about the room to the ranks that have attended and nods to her sisters in the back. "Today we will be discussing possible rolls of the different Ajahs in the last battle. During my many years here one thing seems to be a common theme."
Chloro says 'While many of you know the widespread Ajah mottos, few have knowledge of what they are capable of.'
Chloro says 'Before we start on the Ajahs we will discuss the last battle or war protocol for the White Tower.'
Chloro says 'You may want to begin taking notes during this section.'
Chloro looks to each girl individually before returning to the lesson.
Nori opens a moleskin notepad and carefully preps a feathered quilled pen.
You suddenly feel less protected.
Chloro says 'In moments of great threat, the Amyrlin and the Hall have the ability to call home all sisters either serving in the field or currently in retirement to bolster our forces. Just as Gaidin in retirement can be called up by Hammer Gaidin. '
Bena looks down as crumpled up sheet of paper is flatted on the table and a pen is pulled from her pocket.
Chloro says 'Though it is unprecedented to give this order, the Hall or Amyrlin can push for unbonded sisters to take up the bond for both their protection as much as for the protection of our Gaidin forces. Keep in mind a push is not a decree, each sister will make this choice on her own.'
Chloro says 'If the call for return is made, you will see women in droves returning to the tower, and long since dusted areas of Ajah wings brought back to life as we reach the towers currently known number of shawled sisters in residence.'
Chloro says 'Accepted and Novices will not be immune during this time, your duties will largely depend on the need for you in specific areas or if Accepted, the need of the Ajah you are apprenticed to. I would pray to the creator this is not the case within your lifetimes, as the resulting end of such at this time is unknown.'
Annika whispers something to Nori.
Chloro pauses for a moment allowing her words to sink in before turning to the easel.
Chloro says 'Have you finished your notes on War protocol girls?'
Nori nods at Chloro Sedai.
Bena scribbles a last line and says, "Yes, Chloro Sedai."
Chloro says 'Please keep in mind, participation is a part of grading.'
Chloro flips the top sheet on the easel to reveal a blue bordered sheet beneath. "We will begin with the blue and move clockwise as the Ajah wings are mapped out above us."
Annika begins pretending to take notes.
Navani turns the pages in her small brown book examining her notes again.
Divina winks at Navani.
Chloro says 'The Blue Ajah is known for pursuing justice and causes personal to the Sedai within it. However, what most seem to not know is the Blue Ajah also produces master interrogators and spies. In the last battle they may be used to interrogate darkfriends and dread lords.'
Nori scribbles some notes about the blues under her section on the soft moleskin notepad.
Annika writes Blue Ajah - break fingers on her slate.
Bena raises her hand.
Chloro says 'They may also at great cost to themselves go behind enemy lines feeding reports to us on dark spawn movements and helping to prepare for counter attacks against the shadow. It has been said a Blue sister will take her secrets into the grave instead of giving them up. '
Chloro says 'Yes bena?'
Bena says 'We would attempt to dread lords alive, Chloro Sedai?'
Bena coughs loudly.
Bena says 'To Take dread lords alive?'
Nori weighs on her quilled pen, eagerly awaiting any information on male channelers.
Chloro says 'I would ask all questions be kept to the end of the lesson, and yes, we would attempt live capture. The only way to know what our enemy is doing, is to interrogate them.'
Chloro pauses a moment to allow her words to sink in.
Bena says 'Apologies, Chloro Sedai.'
Chloro flips the sheet, a yellow border beneath. "The Yellow Ajah along with the Green and Red is one of the most widely known around continent, the most skilled healers known to man. Yet they are so much more. Yellow sisters serve not only to heal the sick and injured, but they often are also on the front lines of battle to ensure fighters can keep up the fight."
Annika adds - break fingers - get answers.
Chloro says 'Many Yellow sisters have been credited with developing new cures for illnesses along with tracking outbreaks and teaching non channeling healers out in the world. In the last battle they would serve both as medics and front-line healers hurling saidar at the shadow while keeping our fighting force running.'
Bena notes the inclusion of the Yellow Ajah on the front lines.
Chloro says 'Do not let the buttercup yellow of their gowns fool you, the Yellow Ajah has produced some of fiercest battle sisters outside of the Green and Red that the White Tower has known.'
Chloro looks about the room to gauge the reaction at some finding out the Yellows are not fluffy bunnies.
Nori turns her head towards her paper again, having heard this before in their last conversation
Bena lets out a soft chuckle as she continues to take notes.
Chloro flips the sheet an eggshell white abstract border around the writing. "The White Ajah I found was one of mystery to most initiates. At this time most of its sisters are called away, yet that is no reason not the learn about this Ajah."
Chloro says 'The White Ajah is devoted to reason, unburdened by emotion. Philosophers and inventors, they are capable of thinking outside the box to an extent most cannot. Your food, books, the White tower, and the repositories all benefit from the wards maintained by them. '
Chloro says 'Through Mathematical calculations and their mastery of saidar, White sisters can produce wards with the highest benefit and least amount of drain on the weaver. In the last battle they may serve to build protective wards around the war camps and move refugees or supplies through carefully maintained gateways away from battle. '
Annika writes white ajah - fresh fruit on her slate.
Bena marks one quick word next to the White Ajah on her paper- Logistics.
Chloro says 'White sisters may also aid the Red Ajah in shielding channelers pledged to the dark while they are awaiting interrogation. '
Chloro says 'For more information on this I encourage you all to seek private lessons from the White Ajah.'
Chloro flips the sheet quickly a crimson splatter bordering the next sheet. "The Red Ajah, I have found has the most misconceptions about it. While it is a policing force for those who can channel, male and female alike, it also has a wide range of what it handles for the tower. Red sisters are also known for breaking blocks on wilders, reading residues of other channelers, and shielding."
Nori tilts her head in interest, her quill at the ready
Chloro says 'In the last battle Red sisters would be going toe to toe with channelers who are pledged to the dark, along with assisting the Blue Ajah to ferret out any dark friends in our ranks. As troubling as it may seem agents of the dark have been found in all highs and lows of life. From kings to beggars. '
Bena writes residues on her paper and taps her pen in thought.
Annika writes: Red ajah - also break fingers.
Bena pen stops dead at the implications in Chloro's words.
Bena glances quickly to her right and left to see if the other caught it.
Annika shivers uncomfortably.
Divina points in all directions, seemingly confused.
Chloro looks to Bena seeing her reaction. "For one that wishes to one day wear the shawl, you must learn everything not just propaganda."
Chloro says 'The Red Ajah also may be called to assist in battle linking with untrained women to create full circles to produce larger more devastating weaves against the shadow. Reds being masters in saidar and how it works would be able to easily judge when a woman is spent and release her from the circle. '
Navani turns over a page and continues to jot down notes.
Nori nods to herself quietly, confirming what she's read.
Chloro looks about the room seeing how that last bit of information sinks in. "As we continue this lesson, I encourage you all to think outside the box the next time you consider an Ajah. Each is made up of different women with many talents that can overlap with other Ajahs."
Bena writes circle next to the reds and then to whites and yellows.
Navani strokes her chin thoughtfully.
Chloro flips the sheet once more a smoky border billowing over the white parchment. "The Gray Ajah are known as mediators, judges, and skilled negotiators. This Ajah has brokered peace between nations and helped to end Hawkwings siege on Tar Valon. Yet have you ever considered what they might do when peace is not an option in the last battle?
Navani nods slightly to herself.
Nori makes eye contact with some of the accepteds, sharing a nod.
Bena writes unification next to the gray on her paper.
Chloro says 'The Gray Ajah with sisters placed in each nation would ride forth with rulers and armies at their backs for the north bringing supplies, weapons, and fighters to reinforce the north against the shadow and bolster our forces for the last battle. Grays may even ride into battle with kings and queens of the nations they are stationed in to attempt a safe return for the Monarchs. '
Annika flinches.
Chloro says 'The Gray Ajah would also see to peace among the camps of so many countries and aid the Whites in relocating refugees to the south away from war. A versatile Ajah just like the others inter woven into politics to produce results.'
Bena draws a sharp line from the whites to the grays and scribbles a quick note.
Chloro pauses a moment looking to those in attendance. During the last two Ajahs I would like you to take careful notes. They are the most widely known and, in some respect, the largest ajahs. Yet who here truly knows their capabilities?
Bena lets a soft grin creep on her face.
Nori purses her lip in thought.
Annika writes : Browns - Tricky?
Chloro flips the sheet to a mahogany bordered parchment, "The Brown Ajah is known to safeguard knowledge against the ravages of time so we will not forget what has been learned. Yet they are skilled experimenters as well in objects of the one power. Many brown sisters have given their lives to discover the uses of various objects of the one power."
Annika corrects to Browns- ^ Very tricky.
Chloro says 'In the last battle our cashes of Ter'angreal, Angreal, and Sa'angreal will be emptied and used to increase our channeling effectiveness against the shadow. Browns will lead this effort and handle the distribution along with noting each object given and to whom. Should the light survive, no object will be left where it could fall into the wrong hands.'
Nori recalls the portal stones from her dreams momentarily, shaking them off and refocusing on the class at hand.
Chloro says 'Due to the Brown Ajahs research, its sisters will also give weather reports, judge battle fields based on soil composition, flora and fauna that may help or hinder our forces. The Browns would also have the task of recording both our victories and our failures during the last battle so future generations can learn from them. A hard task to oversee chronicling.'
Bena draws two sharp lines from the brown to the green and white ajahs listed on her paper scratching notes in illegible hand writing.
Annika writes: Browns will take notes.
Chloro pauses to let the girls finish their notes before flipping to a sheet bordered in emerald. "The Green Ajah also referred to as the Battle Ajah stands ready in preparation for the last battle. Most of its sisters are known to hurl themselves and their multiple warders against the shadow to stave the dark sides numbers. Yet these women possess another gift."
Annika looks at her pen in shock as she realises she is currently taking notes.
Navani nods in agreement.
Bena looks to the shocked expression on Annika's face and sighs.
Nori scribbled what look like two figures protecting a single lithe figure in the middle.
Annika writes: Green ajah - very .... sociable.
Chloro says 'The Green Ajah I consider the most emotionally strong women in the tower. Their ability to hold more than one bond at a time and care for more than one warder is an ability all their own. Along with its natural purpose to fight on the front lines, Green sisters have another deeper purpose for those in the last battle.'
Chloro says 'Not all things will be good, not all Sedai will survive the last battle, some sisters may fall. Should their warders survive it is Green sisters that would take over their bonds attempting to salvage them from the deep anguish of losing a bond mate. The bond transfers all emotions, joy, pain, anger. To handle these for not only yourself but multiple people is a rare quality. '
Bena nods solemnly.
Annika swallows.
Chloro looks about the room letting her words sink in. "The next time you see a Green sister in the hall keep this lesson in mind, there is more to them than fire balls and shields."
Navani nods at Chloro Sedai.
Chloro flips to a final sheet the border a pin wheel of the Ajahs again.
Chloro says 'Before deciding on an Ajah to purse if you are not apprenticed yet, ask yourself two questions. Outside of what you have heard today, will you be happy in daily life assuming that role? Does it align with your passion in life? When you join an Ajah, you will be spending the next 300 years or more among these women. Make sure you are choosing correctly, no one will fault you for taking time with the choice.'
Aelrena has arrived from the west.
Navani closes the door.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Chloro looks to her sisters in the back admiration in her eyes for each shawled woman in attendance. "Sisters, would any of you like to add any specific knowledge of your Ajah outside of that which has been given in this lesson?"
Navani clambers to her feet.
Navani curtseys before Aelrena.
Nori curtseys gracefully.
Bena rises.
Bena curtseys before Aelrena.
Nori takes her seat at her desk once more.
Annika curtseys gracefully.
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Bena takes her seat.
Chloro notices the hand in the air but waits on the Aes Sedai. "Sisters?"
Nori readies her feather quilled pen once more for further commentary and notes.
Aelrena nods to the accepted, before turning her attention to Chloro, dipping her head in acknowledgement.
Divina coughs loudly.
Divina says 'Only 300 years'
Divina chuckles politely.
Chloro says 'Not all can boast a life as lengthy as yours Divina Sedai.'
Chloro chuckles politely.
Aelrena chuckles politely.
Chloro smiles warmly at the initiates gathered. "I will now open the floor for questions. Please raise your hand if you wish to speak."
Chloro nods at Bena.
Bena raises her hand.
Nori raises her hand.
Chloro says 'Bena?'
Aelrena whispers something to Divina.
Bena says 'I see some overlap in the roles and I assume as we are all one Tower we would work together. My question is this, how do you view the Ajah's benefiting and coordinating for each other’s strengths in the last battle, Chloro Sedai?'
Nori nods at Bena.
Nori withdraws her hand.
Nori says 'my question was similar, Aes Sedai. Mostly on how and who will coordinate the larger overarching movements of the ajahs.'
Chloro says 'A loaded question child, I believe it will bring them as close as they once were. Over time many sisters drift apart and grow in new directions. During the last battle there will not be time for such, not if we are to survive.'
Chloro nods at Nori.
Chloro says 'The same chain that exists in the tower now if it does then will be the chain of command. Amyrlin - Ajah Heads - Sitters - Most experienced Sisters.'
Aelrena nods at Divina.
Nori nods at Bena.
Bena frowns.
Bena sits back in her chair to think.
Divina whispers something to Aelrena.
Annika drawls 'So the Amyrlin Seat or someone knows where every Sedai retired, or wandering is at all times?'
Aelrena looks at Annika.
Bena chuckles
Chloro says 'No one can ever know for certain, however view it this way. Aes Sedai are a precious commodity in recent years. I am sure their sisters may be intent on keeping track of them...'
Divina says 'To add to your thoughts sister.'
Chloro says 'Please do.'
Chloro opens her hands yielding the floor.
Divina says 'The Brown Ajah keeps vast records and have even longer memories of those past and present.'
Bena raises her hand.
Divina says 'And we keep even greater records on those hoping to be part of the future.'
Divina peers around the room at each of the girls.
Chloro winks at Divina.
Chlro says 'yes Bena?'
Nori blushes.
Aelrena nods at Divina.
Bena says 'I would imagine the Amyrilin would make the call to the Hall, the Hall would communicate that requests to the Heads and the Ajahs and the ajahs eyes and ears would be able to track them down. I doubt one person knows of every single one’s location, but as a whole the knowledge is present.'
Chloro says 'Indeed, one could almost view it as a web of woven threads anchored about a center knot.'
Bena says 'That is exactly how I was thinking of it, Chloro Sedai.'
Chloro says 'Are there any other questions?'
Nori shakes her head.
Chloro looks about the room.
Nori says 'no Aes Sedai. That was quite thorough.'
Navani thinks for a moment before shaking her head.
Chloro looks at her sisters in the back.
Annika drawls 'Doesn’t the Amyrlin have some kind of special war powers? Surely during the Last Battle those will be invoked?'
Aelrena arches an eyebrow.
Chloro looks at Annika. "That is one question that host not been asked in my history of teaching this lesson."
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Annika flushes slightly.
Chloro says 'The Amyrlin like any political leader is bound by her position. One could say it is the hardest among all nations. '
Nori nods quietly, contemplating the responsibilities.
Chloro says 'The Amyrlin's goal from my view of it is to bring as many sisters through the last battle as possible. For if none survives, the tower does not survive.'
Annika writes: Survive Last Battle. Found Accepted Tower.
Bena raises her hand.
Navani gets a large slab of meat from a backpack.
Chloro says 'The goal of the sisters is to bring as many people through it as possible. That is the burden you take up upon wearing a shawl. You make the sacrifice of your life, for the good of the many. Remember that when next you seek advancement.'
Chloro says 'Yes Bena?'
Bena says 'Would it not depend on the Amyrlin and the Hall at the time? Speaking specifically of the influence and power of the Amyrlin Seat. The Power of either is never set in stone. I would imagine, the dichotomy between the two would set the balance.'
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
You sense Divina is channeling saidar.
Divina gestures briefly to her eyes, which somehow appear more focused than before.
Aelrena hums quietly at the back of the classroom, her eyes locking upon the back of Bena's head.
Chloro says 'That child would be sealed to the shawl. However, I would ask again you consider your Ajah choice. You may be learning with my green sisters now, however, is that truly were your heart is?'
Bena chuckles politely.
Bena says 'Yes, Chloro Sedai. The Battle Ajah is where I will be, Light will it.'
Chloro says 'I would ask you remove the apprentice title from your name child. It is known which Ajah you learn from, however, until a shawl graces your shoulders, the other ajahs are not finished with your training yet.'
Divina peers closely at Bena, trying to figure her out.
Chloro winks at Bena.
Nori straightens up a little in her desk chair.
Navani pulls at her braid with a concerned look on her face.
Chloro says 'If there are no other questions?'
Chloro looks to each woman in the room.
Navani says 'None from me Chloro Sedai'
Navani says 'Thank you for taking your time to teach us.'
Aelrena shakes her head slightly, her own eyes gliding between the initiates within the room.
Bena shakes her head.
Bena says 'Not unless another question sparks another thought, Chloro Sedai.'
Bena smiles happily.
Chloro says 'That concludes the lesson.'
Divina smiles happily.
Nori scribbles some last-minute notes before closing her moleskin note pad and shelving her quilled pen in its case.
Nori checks her desk to make sure she is leaving it as clean as she had arrived.
The Accepted says 'Before you are dismissed, I will take roll for Chloro Sedai.'
Divina cries for all the poor moles that gave their lives.
Chloro says 'I must begin teaching more often before I become even more rusty.'
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
