Tolza says 'Dusty garbage every where!'

Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.
A large banner rests here, depicting a map of Tar Valon.

Tarlomen's Gate
Wide enough for fifteen men abreast, the gates allowing access to the Tower
grounds are iron bound. The gilded Flames of Tar Valon set high up in the
thick timber have been polished to a shine that a Tinker would find
satisfactory. A cool river breeze wafts through the gate, making the trees
and bushes in the grounds to the north rustle and sway. The pale shaft of
the White Tower lies to the north, reaching a hundred spans into the air.

Before the White Tower
The White Tower looms to the north, rising over a hundred spans into the
sky. Trees and bushes, both short and tall, are sprinkled around the path
and throughout the Tower grounds. The path is covered by pieces of small
white gravel and bordered by white bricks. White steps, at least a pace
deep and slightly arched in the middle, lead up to the White Tower.

Passing the Water Garden
The path enters a thicket and the foliage of the trees shade the path from
the sky. Just beyond the foliage lies a series of ponds and waterways.
Lilypads bob up and down on the waters and water irises add splashes of
yellow and purple to the scene. Arching bridge of white stone cross the
ponds, lined with lacy stone railings.

Bend in the Path
A wide, twisting graveled path runs from the south-western gate towards the
pale shaft of the White Tower, which is at least one hundred spans tall.
Woods of oak and evergreen that could have stood far from any city enclose
the path, creating a verdant green oasis that absorbs all sounds from the
city of Tar Valon which encircles the entire Tower and its grounds.

the Sunset Gate. Between the domed wings that contain the Accepteds'
quarters, tall steps lead up to a spacious landing on which majestically
carved doors form the entrance to the Tower. Two bronze lamps, shaped like
women holding their hands aloft, the light coming from a burst of flame

Barracks of the Tower Guard
This seems to be a fairly spartan headquarters. Near the entrance a wooden
desk, presumably for the secretary, is covered with papers of various
sorts. Further inside, a few bunks can be seen in the corners while a large
table stands at the center of the room. Cards and a few chips lie on the

A Bend in the Path
White benches border the path to either side and lawns of green grass
surround each bench. The White Tower rises over eighty spans in the air to
the southeast, dwarfing everything in the vicinity. Short shrubs butting up
against the sides of the Tower have been pruned to resemble miniature
trees. The white gravel path turns east and south past a bare rock garden
consisting of rocks that have been placed into the shape of a mountain. An
elegant sign stands at the edge of the rock garden.

In a Hallway
Floor tiles in blue, brown, gray, green, red, white and yellow have been
laid in repeating rows throughout the broad main corridor of the library.
Tall stone carvings flank the doors which give access to the separate
depositories the library consists of. Two desks have been placed back to
back in the center of the hallway, allowing a place for study.

Western Hallway
Tall, arched doorways of pale white stone, set with intricately carved
double doors allow for entry into the depositories north or south of the
central hallway of the library. Stone ribs, carved with a plethora of
leaves, interspersed with seven-spoked wheels and the Flame of Tar Valon,

West Wing of the Library
Colorful floor tiles laid in repeating rows of Ajah colors cover the floor
of this wide hallway, which forms the center of the Great Library of Tar
Valon. Evidently the work of Ogier stonemasons, the walls of pale white
stone have been masterfully carved to show huge figures, depicting
fancifully garbed people and strange animals ten feet tall or more. A pair

smaller room with a plain door marked with a brass sign lies to the south.

The large, ovular reading room of the library extends to the south, dotted

which matches the furnishings of the walls and shelves. Rows of pictures
hang in dusty frames along the walls. The entirity of the northern wall is
a large, heavily-leaded arched window that overlooks the Tower grounds, one
of the few windows in the building, as light degrades the quality of ink.

Narrow corridors lined with bookcases branch out in several directions,
forming a maze of knowledge. The books on nearby shelves seem to be an odd
melange of very old and relatively new, judging by the conditions of their
spine. The oldest seem to be fragments of text copied from books of the Age
of Legends, while the majority are only a few years old. Regardless of the
age of the manuscript, all of the titles seem to be about construction of
structures, devices, machines and other feats of engineering.

The Fifth Depository
High tables scattered about the end of the room serve as display stands for
a number of miniature models. A few of the more common ones are easily
identified, such as a waterwheel for a mill, and a machine to press grapes.
There are several which are quite complicated, and whose function may only
be discovered upon researching the proper text. The most ingenious are also
the simplest, including a large tower with a pinwheel attached, using the
wind to power a grindstone, and a small, but fully functional model of a
method for raising water to the top of a building using a series of screws.
