You Mean There Is More Than A Handful Of Sedai?

Post by Chloro » Fri May 31, 2024 5:21 pm

Accepted Melosa comes to the Gray wing seeking advice, where Chloro Sedai provides enlightenment about the swirling political currents inside and outside the Tower.

Participants: Chloro, Melosa

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

Zone: White Tower Upper Floors

A chair made of red oak rests next to the table. [4]
A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.

The carveddoor is opened from the other side.

Melosa has arrived from the east.

Melosa closes the carveddoor.

Melosa curtseys before you.

Melosa curtseys before Annoura Larisen.

Melosa says 'Thank you for seeing me, Chloro Sedai'

Chloro looks up from her spot at the table and nods. "Ah yes, I received your note, tell me Melosa, what brings a Green Apprentice to the Gray wing?"

Melosa smiles slightly.

Melosa says 'I would like to seek your guidance on a few matters.'

Chloro sighs and pushes the paperwork in front of her to the side. "What could have possibly happened now?"

Melosa says 'Green, Gray, Blue... there are many worthy Aes Sedai that I have much to learn from.'

Melosa says 'Ah nothing has happened.'

Chloro blinks and allows a slight smile to break her mask of calm. "Sorry child, gut reaction as a Gray sister. Please go on."

Melosa says 'I simply wanted to hear from yourself your experience and '

Melosa says 'What it meant to one day wear a shawl.'

Melosa says 'One of my mentor Vianca Sedai had advised me that you were... instrumental in her raising to the Shawl and strongly suggested that I have a word.'

Melosa says 'Not simply the process but her growth and learning. '

Melosa says 'In a way, I am where she was some many years ago and seeking the same guidance.'

Chloro motions for the Accepted to follow her as she stands and moves from the large table to a soft gray velvet couch with red trim. "So, you have reached that stage, a midpoint, If I remember correctly."

Melosa nods.

Chloro reaches to her right pulling two crystal tumbler glasses and deftly pouring bourbon into both three fingers. "These times are far different than when I was both a novice and accepted."

Chloro says 'Please come have a seat.'

Melosa's eyes twinkle with mirth, 'It must not have been too long ago Chloro Sedai. You do not look a day over 40 years’.

Melosa smiles gratefully and takes a seat.

Chloro chuckles and looks at her smooth hands. "You know better than that Melosa." Finishes pouring and puts the decanter down before giving a glass to Melosa and taking a sip of her own. "Now ask your real questions, you may speak freely."

Melosa says 'My first question, Chloro Sedai.'

Chloro takes a sip of her bourbon before lowering the glass, clasping it in both her hands.

Melosa says 'Where does one go from here?'

Melosa says 'And is there something which I must do.'

Melosa says 'In order to show that I am ready to wear the shawl.'

Chloro ponders the question and its different meanings. "I will give you the advice a Aes Sedai once gave me. Find who you are, and the rest will fall into place. The journey to the shawl is about learning the ways of the tower as much as it is learning about yourself."

Melosa nods slowly as she considers your words carefully.

Chloro says 'In regard to my sister Vianca.'

Chloro says 'She had done the work, she knew what had to be done, I simply helped a few eyes find their way to her work is all.'

Melosa nods in agreement, 'The work of the Light never ends.'

Melosa says 'I hope I have contributed in my own way and look to continue.'

Chloro says 'Indeed it does not, which is why I am glad to call her sister, and know she patrols the northern front.'

Chloro says 'Mariah Sedai and Penzei Sedai were the same, I simply aided eyes to see their work.'

Chloro says 'All Aes Sedai have a personal mission, mine is the future of the tower, and by proxy, the initiates.'

Melosa looks reflective, 'You speak of the ways of the Tower as well. I must admit that it is this unknown that eludes my understanding so far.'

Melosa says 'In my recent discussion with Alison Sedai, she spoke about improving my standing. Is there perhaps something I should focus on?'

Chloro takes another sip of her bourbon before answering. "The road to the shawl is much like running for political office. No one Ajah raises a girl to the shawl, all seven do. Which means every woman who has shawled, has played the great game. Some are better than others is all."

Melosa's face brightens in understanding ‘Ah the Great Game. Of course,'

Chloro says 'Yes, so the theory of who invented it, my own personal belief is, an Aes Sedai during Hawkwings era developed it while governing a Provence and it spread both within and without.'

Melosa nods in agreement.

Chloro says 'Now to the unseen.'

Chloro says 'As I stated all seven Ajahs raise a girl to the shawl, what have you done with the other six?'

Melosa nods in agreement.

Melosa says 'I have been reaching out to many Aes Sedai over the months.'

Melosa says 'Not as much as I would like.'

Melosa says 'But a few'

Melosa says 'Seeking guidance as well. '

Melosa says 'Ashlynn Sedai of the Yellow Ajah.'

Melosa says 'Several of the Blue Ajah.'

Chloro says 'I see, go on.'

Melosa says 'In general.'

Melosa says 'Any Aes Sedai I see awake.'

Melosa smiles happily.

Chloro says 'What of those in the field?'

Chloro says 'When I say all Seven Ajahs child, I mean ALL.'

Melosa says 'Mainly those in the Green Ajah.'

Melosa nods in agreement.

Melosa says 'I will double my efforts to reach those away from the Tower.'

Chloro says 'It is time you send pigeons, leave letters, calmly and patiently. There are more than just a handful of Aes Sedai.'

Melosa says 'Of all Ajahs'

Melosa nods in agreement.

Melosa says 'I will do so.'

Melosa bows her head.

Chloro says 'Now what other questions do you have?'

Melosa says 'I will do so, Chloro Sedai.'

Melosa shakes her head.

Melosa says 'Thank you for your time. I have taken up much of it.'

Melosa says 'Your guidance as always is much appreciated.'

Chloro chuckles and finishes her drink, "I will be the judge of how I spend my time child. For now, if there are no other questions, you may return to your studies, think about the lessons you've learned from the Grays and implement them in your approach."

Melosa nods in agreement.

Melosa says 'As you say, Chloro Sedai'

Melosa curtseys before you.

Melosa curtseys before Annoura Larisen.
