Knowledge, Legends and Flaming Aiel

Post by Divina » Sun Feb 18, 2024 3:05 am

Divina gestures at the door with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Amarea says 'Beggin' your pardon, Aes Sedai, I was so lost in thought when you sent that letter that
I almost didn't notice it.'

Amarea blushes faintly.

Divina says 'That is ok child. I am too old to be fully of my functions and wits so I understand being
lost in your own mind more than you know,'

liste none
Divina now ignore the chats and narrates.

Amarea grins playfully.

Divina says 'Please do sit'

Amarea nods in agreement.

Divina says 'Give me a couple of moments while I finish reading this report scroll you have sent us.'

Amarea pulls out a seat near the large window, glancing out towards the Tower grounds with a smile
as she does.

Amarea nods at Divina.

Amarea puts a mirrored lantern in an embroidered, cotton shoulder bag.

Divina ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Divina says 'You have quite the skill with the pen dear.'

Amarea turns out towards the window facing the Erinin, a small smile on her lips as she idly fidgets
with a quill pen in her hands.

Study of the Brown Ajah
Tall, arched windows in the northern wall open to a balcony, providing a
choice view of the Erinin as it flows south from the Borderlands. Half the
seating in the room is drawn up around the windows, showing that the
occupants appreciate the panorama. The remaining seats are drawn up in
circles of six to eight, allowing Brown Sisters to discuss the furtherance
of knowledge, or new theories in an informal atmosphere. Colorful wall
hangings depicting still lifes decorate the pale white walls.

Amarea Helsen the Tower Accepted is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Brown Sister is here, frowning pensively.
Danelle Sedai, sitter for the Brown Ajah stands here deep in thought.

Amarea blushes as she turns back. 'Thankin' you kindly, Aes Sedai. I've been practicing my writing
since I came to the White Tower, but I had training in writing and basic arithmetic before I joined
as a novice.'

Divina says 'I do appreciate someone who can write in actual sentences and paragraphs at the very least
but a comprehensive missive is something not too often seen from one so young.'

Divina nods in agreement.

Amarea beams a broad smile from ear to ear.

Divina says 'What of your background before you joined us dear.'

Amarea says 'You flatter me, Divina Sedai. And here I was worried it was probably not direct enough
to the point.'

Divina says 'How is that you have had some training when most girls that joins us can barely write their
own name.'

Divina ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Divina says 'I think I may have heard of you dear. Have you been seeking aid with the Yellow Ajah for
some issues with a certain block?'

Divina says 'Something to do with carrying water with you.'

Amarea nods and explains further, 'As a novice, yes, Aes Sedai. That is correct. I was...am...a
wilder by history. When I came to the White Tower, I could only touch the Source or channel when I
was within three paces of a source of water large enough to put out a small campfire. Aelrena Sedai
helped me explore and eventually break that block before I passed through the three arches to gain
Acceptance.'

Divina says 'Aelrena Sedai helped cure you you say.'

Divina says 'That is interesting indeed. She did not mention as such.'

Divina says 'danelle paper please'

Amarea smiles fondly and replies, 'She helped me reach my full potential, is how I see it.'

arch danelle
Divina looks at her archly.

Divina says 'danelle more paper please'

Danelle Sedai grumbles under her breath about certain people.

Danelle Sedai says 'Use these well, Divina - they are not cheap!'

Danelle Sedai shuffles several loose papers from a leather-bound case and places them inside the
desk.

nod amarea
Divina nods at her.

Divina says 'Be that as it may. No good deed goes unrewarded.'

Divina is carrying:

There's something written on it already.

Amarea's eyes light up with curiosity.

Divina ponders life, the universe, and everything.

give paper danelle
Divina gives a sheet of paper to Danelle Sedai.

Divina nods in agreement.

Divina says 'So let us see about that potential now'

something. I may have to take off abruptly if she needs something.'

Divina says 'I see here you wish to study under the wing of the Brown Ajah'

Divina says 'And that you have already shown some interest in assisting Liia Sedai with some works'

Amarea nods eagerly and leans forward. 'Yes, Aes Sedai. Liia Sedai has taken me on as an apprentice
for now. I can share more about some of my studies with her, if that would help?'

Divina says 'Is that so'

Divina says 'It seems Liia Sedai needs to be a bit more communicative in that regards.'

Amarea blushes faintly.

Divina says 'None the less, yes let us hear of your thoughts on the work at hand.'

Divina sits down and rests her tired bones.

Divina ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Divina stops resting, and stands up.

Divina feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

sw divina
[chann 'sense warding' divina]
Divina have absolutely no idea how to weave the flows required.

Amarea says 'I...can't say how much she has communicated with other Aes Sedai, but I am sorry if
there has been some confusion.'

Divina sits down and rests her tired bones.

Divina says 'It is not on you dear to be responsible for the duties of Aes Sedai.'

Amarea says 'I met with Liia Sedai first just shy of a month ago, when she taught a brief lesson to
me and Melosa on items of the Power. I stayed after to speak with her about what appears to be a
Talent I have for weaves involving Locating and Traveling. I had heard that she has strengths and
particular expertise in these areas.'

The flows holding the light ball have dissipated.
Divina suddenly feels less protected.

Amarea says 'She left me with a puzzle to determine how to calculate the precise amount of training
in the Travel weave to determine how far one can safely Travel across the world, and challenged me
to come up with a working model to support my theory by showing my work.'

Amarea's eyes light up with curiosity.

Divina makes some hastely scrawled notes in a brown journal.
Divina emote: Divina makes some hastely scrawled notes in a brown journal.

Divina says 'And are you still in the process of coming up with such a model?'

Amarea grins with genuine excitement as she continues, 'This sparked a revelation for me that
holarly research was something I wanted to dedicate my studies to. I enjoy field research, and
have greatly enjoyed all of my efforts to learn more about the world around me. I narrowed my
interests down to the Brown and White Ajahs, and decided the Brown was the best fit.'

Amarea says 'I'm pleased to say that I have a theory now, and have since learned that it matches
Liia Sedai's own theory. What we both found is that if you assume that the region, or zone, of a
place exists on a coordinate system, you can use an arithmetic function to calculate the length of
the hypotenuse of an imaginary triangle between here and the coordinates of the zone you wish to
reach. That distance times ten is the precise percentage of training that you need to either Locate
or Travel a specific target.'

Divina ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Amarea says 'Once I was able to explain to Liia Sedai what I had learned and puzzled out, she
invited me to collaborate with her on a project that I'm very excited about. We are creating a
comprehensive map of the world, from the far reaches of the Sea of Storms all the way to Thakan'dar,
and I am compiling a list of targets for both Locate Object and Locate Life for every zone in the
world.'

Divina says 'The logic sounds relatively sound though I would heavily argue that your original theory
seems flawed to me in its current definition.'

Divina says 'Apologies. '

Amarea's eyes light up with curiosity.

Divina says 'I don't mean your theory'

Divina says 'I meant the problem descritpion that Liia Sedai gave you seems flawed.'

Amarea says slowly, 'It is possible that I have explained it incompletely, or inaccurately.'

Divina says 'Let me pose this to you. What do you think it is meant by "safely"?'

Amarea says 'Specifically, I was trying to determine the exact percentage of training needed to
arrive at the intended location, rather than "mis-Traveling" or "misporting" as some call it,
colloquially.'

Divina says 'Not to overshadow Liia Sedai, for that is not my intention here. But for one as old and
learned as I, such a thing is completely avoidable to the trained mind.'

Divina says 'So for me personally, the concept that I am in some way in danger of travelling unsafely is
mute.'

Amarea says 'I understand, Aes Sedai, and I have never mis-Traveled since learning the weave.'

Divina says 'Well now then child.'

Divina says 'Perhaps then the hypothesis of the study might need to be more clearly defined.'

Amarea blushes faintly as she says, 'Again, I apologize if I have used the wrong word or explained
the problem poorly. The part of the puzzle that was most fascinating for me was in determining the
exact percentages needed to arrive at, or Locate a target at, the intended location.'

Amarea says 'The concepts we discussed were based on some older but comprehensive research by a
woman known as Thuvia, whom I confess I do not know much of beyond the name.'

Divina says 'Be that as it may. The there are two sides to a coin and both are mutually exclusive.'

Amarea nods thoughtfully.

Divina says 'That woman is known to me, though one pays little stock to whispers and rumors without the
proper due diligence first.'

Divina says 'So what of you other works in building out a repository of useful landmarks around the
world.'

Amarea says 'Well, right now we are at the point in the collaboration in which we are trying to find
targets that are unique or uncommon that can be found using the Locate Object and Locate Life weaves
for each region. I think we are about one-third done with mapping those for the world.'

Amarea says 'Some of those regions, such as the river boats and the Ways, are non-Locateable so
there is not much to do in those places.'

Divina feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Nah... You feel too relaxed to do that..

Divina stops resting, and stands up.

Divina is already in touch with saidar, can't you feel it?

Divina begins to weave the appropriate flows...

Amarea's eyes light up with curiosity.

Divina says 'It is only found in one place in the entire world.'

Divina senses Amarea connecting to the True Source.

Divina senses Amarea is channeling saidar.

Amarea fails to pull together whatever flows she was trying to weave.

Divina senses Amarea is channeling saidar.

Amarea says 'I can Locate one far east from here. That is most likely in Imre Stand.'

Divina says 'You would not believe how long I roamed the entire world looking for that flaming bloody
piece of Aiel junk.'

Amarea grins playfully.

Divina says 'And I should have known better than to trust my Mentor would be fair with me'

Divina says 'Secretly she was laughing behind my back the entire time.'

Amarea smiles curiously. 'Why is that, Divina Sedai?'

Divina says 'Flaming bloody maiden of the spear.'

Amarea chuckles politely.

Divina says 'To this day, I still curse her name on occasion.'

Amarea says 'I have spent very little time in the Aiel Waste.'

Divina says 'I spent at least half of my apprenticeship there.'

Amarea blinks her eyes innocently.

Divina says 'It is probably the most familiar place to me except the White Tower.'

Divina says 'Tell me, are Accepteds allowed to travel to the waste?'

Amarea nods in agreement.

Divina says 'In that case, you and I shall take an excursion there another time.'

Divina says 'Put you out of your comfort zone so to say.'

nod danelle
Divina nods at her.

Amarea grimaces.

Divina says 'Remind me of my promise so that I keep it.'

Amarea says 'I would relish the chance to study with you, but admit it would be hard for me for a
number of reasons. I am especially weak in Fire weaves, and my strongest offensive weaves are
ineffective in the heat.'

Divina says 'No one said the path to the Brown Ajah would be easy dear.'

Divina says 'And all the more reason for you to be put out of your comfort zone and learn to be in the
world around you and not to rely on Saidar.'

Amarea nods, sitting up taller. 'Yes, Divina Sedai. I agree with you.'

Divina says 'The Brown Ajah is like a lump of clay.'

Amarea's eyes light up with curiosity.

Divina says 'It takes alot of battering and moulding into imperfect shapes before it comes out hardened
and strong in a perfect form.'

Amarea beams a broad smile from ear to ear.

Amarea nods in agreement.

Divina says 'Those before you to succeed to wear the shawl of the Brown have always been wise to accept
traning and knowledge for all.'

Divina says 'Trust me in this, there are few brown sisters to come before me so Ive battered the
majority of them in my time.'

chann door open

Divina gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Divina says 'I appreciate your time dea.'

Amarea grins as she replies in jest, 'Well, I certainly feel like some days I have been battered and
molded by my lessons, although it has been an enjoyable experience all the same.'

Divina says 'Dear*'

Divina says 'Did you hear that Danelle.'

Divina says 'A Legend'

Divina teases her about the way she looks.

Amarea grins playfully.

Amarea curtseys before Divina.
