Introduce Yourself

Post by Elmitsu » Tue Jan 23, 2024 11:46 am

Summary: Accepted Elmitsu gossips with her friends before meeting with Everesta Sedai.

Characters: Elmitsu, Aleera, Everesta, Coshe

POV: Elmitsu

+-+-+-+-+-+

Elmitsu tries to approach Aleera surreptitiously as she exits her small chamber into the Well proper.

Elmitsu pounces on her fellow Accepted with spindly fingers, tickling the other girl.

Aleera jumps, very clearly startled, having been bent over some notes, reviewing them intently. She exclaims, almost breathless, "My goodness!"

Elmitsu says with nearly grim satisfaction, "Got you, didn't I?"

Aleera's eyes are wide as saucers. "Light, yes," she admits as she calms down, even if only the smallest bit.

Elmitsu loops an arm over Aleera's shoulders, "Sorry for the scare, but I have missed you."

Aleera leans in to Elmitsu. "Likewise," she confesses, with an exaggerated look around as if to be sure no one else heard that. Apologetically, she offers, "I've been buried in the library," and then shares, "I have a review meeting for this," hand waving over notes prepared for her class. The Class.

Elmitsu repeats, "-The- class?"

Elmitsu lowers her voice to a stage whisper, "Good luck, sweet sister."

Aleera nods. "I know, right?" she says in low tones, just in case her mentor happens to come in to the area.

Elmitsu too looks around the Well and its little garden, cheating her back to Kennira.

Elmitsu whispers to Aleera '[REDACTED].'

Elmitsu whispers to Aleera '[REDACTED]'

Elmitsu punctuates her little jest with a classic sly smile.

Aleera whispers to you, '[REDACTED]'

The chamberdoor is opened from the other side.

Coshe has arrived from the east.

The chamberdoor closes quietly.

Coshe sits down and rests.

Coshe says 'Damn Dougan!'

Elmitsu says 'The Light keep you, Coshe. Do you need Healing?'

Coshe says 'did he really have to blind, poison, contagion and chill me?'

Coshe says 'I will be ok Elmitsu thank you though'

Elmitsu says 'At least one of those weaves must have been overkill.'

Aleera winces as she looks to, and hears, Coshe, "Oh my."

Coshe says 'keep your heads on a swivel it appears cassiel might be around'

Elmitsu says 'I was stabbed once, but I survived.'

Coshe says 'Apparently not this time '

Coshe snickers softly.

Elmitsu shakes her hair out as if she is very proud of this accomplishment.

Coshe snickers softly.

Elmitsu says 'Tolza Sedai saved my life, but only after I collapsed at her feet!'

Elmitsu smiles slyly.

Coshe says 'Tolza Sedai is a pretty amazing person'

Elmitsu says 'I know. She helped me find a gift for Fyra Sedai!'

Aleera nods in agreement about Tolza.

Coshe smiles softly.

Elmitsu says 'Though once she followed me around the library, watching me reshelve books, taking notes. It was -quite- unnverving.'

Aleera asks, archly, "Were you reshelving them ... wrong?" She smirks.

Coshe snickers softly.

Elmitsu crosses her thin arms beneath her breasts as if offended, "No!"

Elmitsu amends, "Probably not."

Coshe smiles softly and says "I wonder if each brown has their own way to shelve books"

Aleera teases, "I mean, I know the library may as well be Falme."

Coshe stops resting, and clambers on her feet.

Elmitsu juts out her chin defiantly, "I -think- she was looking for the girl who kept leaving books on the floor, which I'd never do."

Elmitsu adds, after a beat, "I'd burn the evidence."

Coshe giggles.

Elmitsu waggles her eyebrows suggestively at Aleera.

Aleera giggles, "Safer for sure."

Elmitsu says 'I am excited for your class, Aleera. Coshe, have you taught a class before?'

Coshe says 'I have not'

Elmitsu 's attention travels between her fellow Accepted like a boomerang.

Coshe says 'I have done some private teaching'

Elmitsu says 'Will the Blue make you teach one? I am not sure if every Ajah places such an emphasis on ped-a-gog-y.'

Elmitsu stumbles over the word 'pedagogy' as if it were a considerable hurdle to her tongue.

Coshe says 'They may, if they wish and if they do, I will'

Melosa smiles happily.

Aleera nods to that last, "That is all I've done to this point as well. And I do suspect it is more of an expectation of the Browns."

Coshe beams a smile at Melosa.

Elmitsu says 'The Light keep you, Melosa.'

Melosa says 'Light shine on you all'

Melosa says 'This is quite the gathering'

Melosa chuckles politely.

Aleera shares, "But, as many Aes Sedai will share, there's some of all Ajahs in them, so ... who knows. It might vary by mentor, even."

Aleera smiles for Melosa, "Hello."

Coshe nods at Aleera.

Melosa says 'Ah I see Master Roberto is in the Tower. Seems that there is crime afoot'

Elmitsu nods such that some wisps of hair escape her ribbon.

Coshe says 'He tends to try and keep watch when Cassiel is around'

Melosa hums a short Murandian country tune.

Coshe says 'I have noticed that pattern with him.'

Melosa says 'Well then ladies, I am off to run some errands for Pevara Sedai'

Coshe beams a smile at Melosa.

Melosa says 'Good day to you all'

Coshe says 'stay safe'

Melosa says 'exit'

Melosa leaves east. >>

The chamber door closes quietly.

Elmitsu senses Coshe is channeling saidar.

Coshe says 'that is a strange locate'

Coshe says 'a skin carried by a seanchan very far east from here'

Elmitsu taps her lip with a spindly finger.

Elmitsu says 'Strange indeed.'

Elmitsu squeezes Aleera's hand, "Are we keeping you from your review?"

Aleera starts to gather up her notes into a neat stack. She lets out a slow breath and says, "Wish me luck. I should not be late and start off on the wrong foot." Her brow furrows, and lips contort, about ... a skin.

Elmitsu nods with nearly enough force to cause her teeth to clack.

Aleera puts a hand over her stomach, "And maybe a quick stop in the kitchens."

Elmitsu gives a plate of yellow peppers and pork to Aleera.

Aleera says 'Oh, bless you!'

Coshe comforts Aleera.

Elmitsu says 'Tell Aelrena Sedai I send my best regards and hope that I can take a lesson from her soon.'

Aleera doesn't even hesitate, and starts grabbing food off of the plate.

Aleera eats a plate of yellow peppers and pork.

Aleera drinks water from a leather water flask.

Kennira, Caretaker of Novices helps Coshe into her private chamber.

Aleera nods to Elmitsu and offers a quick smile.

Elmitsu darts in for a quick embrace before shooing Aleera toward the exit.

Elmitsu says 'I am off to meet Everesta Sedai.'

Elmitsu says 'Kennira, I will take my exit, please.'

The chamber door swings open.

Continuing Down the Hallway
Floor tiles in a multitude of gray hues cover the floor of this hallway,
alternating with white tiles marked with the Flame of Tar Valon. Each door
in the hallway has been marked with scales in gold for Sitters and silver
for other Aes Sedai. A large tapestry of a map during the time of the
Compact of the Ten Nations decorates the wall.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
A Red Sister stares down here nose here.

The carveddoor is opened from the other side.

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.
A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
Lady Everesta do Alinye a'Covin is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.

Everesta smiles at Elmitsu.

Everesta closes the carveddoor.

Elmitsu darts into the Meeting Room once the door is opened from the other side.

Everesta says 'Annoura, we need more chairs.'

Annoura Larisen glances around the room.

Annoura Larisen says 'Yes, it does appear we are short a few for this meeting.'

Annoura Larisen steps out, then returns with an Accepted following close behind.

Elmitsu bobs in deference to Everesta Sedai and the other assembled Gray sisters.

Annoura Larisen looks over her shoulder at the girl.

Annoura Larisen says 'Child, help us move some of these chairs around the table.'

A dutiful Accepted curtseys gracefully. 'Yes, Aes Sedai.'

A dutiful Accepted grabs a chair and quickly moves across the room.
A dutiful Accepted drops a stout oaken chair.

A dutiful Accepted makes her way towards another and shuffles it into place.
A dutiful Accepted drops a stout oaken chair.

Everesta nods toward Elmitsu, but focuses solely on the Accepted in and out of the room.

A dutiful Accepted avoids making eye contact as she lifts another chair.
A dutiful Accepted drops a stout oaken chair.

A dutiful Accepted gets a last chair and sets it with the others around a large table.
A dutiful Accepted drops a stout oaken chair.

A dutiful Accepted dips into a final curtsy and leaves with haste.

Everesta closes the carveddoor.

Elmitsu senses Everesta connecting to the True Source.

Elmitsu assists the dutiful if beleaguered Accepted in placing all the chairs.

Everesta gestures at the doors with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Everesta says 'Well.'

Everesta looks you up and down.

Everesta says 'Introduce yourself and demonstrate growth!'

Elmitsu does not wilt under the Aes Sedai's scrutiny as she might have the last time the pair met.

Everesta gestures warmly.

Elmitsu says 'The Light keep you, Everesta Sedai. It -has- been some time since we've had occasion to speak.'

Everesta nods in kind, mirroring the formal introduction.

Everesta says 'The Light keep you Elmitsu, take a seat and tell me who you are.'

Elmitsu chooses her words carefully, as one might a dress for a party, "I want to thank you for assisting me in breaking my block. I am not sure if I ever expressed appropriate gratitude."

Elmitsu claims the seat closest to the Aes Sedai, perching on its lip.

Everesta stifles a chuckle as she takes her seat.

Everesta says 'Do you think it taught you how to break blocks?'

Elmitsu says 'It taught me that . . . perception and reality are often the same thing, Aes Sedai.'

Everesta says 'A terribly wise thing to say, Elmitsu. Be careful that expectations follow along with such wisdom.'

Elmitsu admits, perhaps ruefully, "The mind is a powerful instrument, and I am not certain I have always used mine to its best advantage."

Everesta nods as you speak and adds in, 'perhaps for the best.'

Everesta says 'How do you learn that you are abusing your mind, I wonder?'

Elmitsu considers this and then jests, "Usually, there is an Aes Sedai to tell you."

Everesta rises and glides to a small table at the side of the room.

Elmitsu hurries to add, "Forgive my jape, Aes Sedai, but you have put me at my ease."

Everesta smiles as she pulls out a water pot and begins to boil water.

Everesta says 'Do you always require an Aes Sedai, Elmitsu? Or have you learned when you are abusing yourself?'

Everesta watches the pot closely and as the steam to blow out the pot, she looks to you as if asking if you want any.

Elmitsu says 'I -used- to, Aes Sedai. But I was young and foolish when I first came here.'

Elmitsu says 'Now I am only . . . young and less foolish. Would you like me to serve the tea?'

Everesta says 'No, but would you like any tea?'

Elmitsu stills her spindly fingers from drumming on the table, "Please."

Everesta says 'By the way, if someone described me as 'less foolish' in my life, I would take it as a great compliment.'

Elmitsu says 'Many important considerations in this life operate on a sliding scale, I've found.'

Everesta takes the pot in her right hand, and grabs two cups in her left, and wisps them to the table, before returning to grab some containers of herbs.

Elmitsu says 'So I suppose I am -less- young and hopefully less foolish.'

Everesta says 'A great accomplishment, to be sure, and not to be minimized.'

Everesta puts a mixture of herbs in your cup, pours water, and then puts in front of you, 'let it steep or take it however you like', before doing her own.

Elmitsu watches Everesta's ministrations with the tea with some interest as she continues to select her words deliberately.

Everesta says 'So, Elmitsu. You are young. You are less foolish. Who are you?'

Everesta slides into her seat with a cup in her hand and takes in an inhale of the steam before setting it back on the table to steep.

Elmitsu says 'I am Elmitsu Svetanya, Accepted of the White Tower. I came from else, but now this is the truth written on my bones, Aes Sedai.'

Elmitsu also warms her hands around her cup as she lets it steep some.

Everesta says 'Journey Accepted to be exact.'

Elmitsu says 'I am on a journey; you are right about that.'

Everesta says 'Have you found the road to where you intend?'

Everesta takes her cup again, and takes a small sip.

Elmitsu says 'I have explored many paths, tried the handles of many doors. They have not all opened to me yet.'

Everesta says 'So you still are looking at closed doors?'

Elmitsu says 'No, Aes Sedai. I am learning to pick locks.'

Everesta smiles a little sadly at you.

Everesta says 'Can you articulate to me your roadmap?'

Everesta says 'When will you know when you have arrived?'

Elmitsu says 'For a long time, the map was upside down.'

Elmitsu says 'You can understand how that might be vexing.'

Everesta ponders this for a moment.

Everesta says 'Only an issue if you haven't memorized the legend, I guess.'

Elmitsu tilts her head to the side as she considers the Aes Sedai's wisdom, "I think you are right, Aes Sedai."

Everesta says 'So.'

Everesta leans in toward you.

Everesta says 'You've been looking at the map upside down, and you're not being specific in your metaphors.'

Everesta says 'I am trying to confront you about your life, Elmitsu.'

Everesta smiles a bit and leans back.

Everesta says 'What are you becoming?'

Elmitsu continues dancing around the subject as if she has already selected the dress she will wear to the party.

Elmitsu says 'I am becoming an Aes Sedai.'

Everesta says 'Oh?'

Everesta seems to smirk a little.

Everesta says 'And what color of Aes Sedai are you to become?'

Elmitsu says 'I hope to, anyway. I do not think I can decide such a thing myself.'

Everesta looks at you direct and says, 'Elmitsu, repeat to me the difference between perception and reality.'

Elmitsu says 'I have previously expressed interest in several Ajahs but have not been accepted formally into any apprenticeship, Everesta Sedai.'

Everesta says 'The difference, that you've articulated, in your own words, Elmitsu.'

Elmitsu says 'There isn't one, Aes Sedai.'

Elmitsu says 'Or I have said as much to you.'

Everesta says 'So you are becoming an Aes Sedai.'

Everesta taps her fingers on the table as she drinks her tea.

Everesta says 'Lots of colors on that band.'

Everesta says 'Which is Elmitsu? '

Everesta takes another long drink of her tea before setting it, empty, on the table.

Elmitsu 's cheeks are nearly red as one of the bands on her dress as she scrunches her face in thought. Finally, she pants, "Everesta Sedai, you are very hard to trick."

Elmitsu says 'Mind you, I was -not- trying to trick you.'

Elmitsu says 'Only . . .'

Everesta says 'You are not a mirror for me, child.'

Everesta smiles at you patiently.

Everesta leans in conspiratorially, 'I am also very hard to trick.'

Elmitsu also leans in over the table, offering a stage whisper, "I have been trying to keep my interest -secret-."

Everesta says 'A smart tactic to be sure. Everyone is curious about this Elmitsu.'

Everesta says 'I will tell you, I have found her to be less foolish than the last time.'

Everesta says 'I will say, though many would disagree in these halls, there is very little more foolish than following your heart.'

Elmitsu hesitates over whatever she was about to say, instead pivoting, "What do you mean, Aes Sedai?"

Everesta says 'About which statement?'

Everesta watches you closely.

Elmitsu says 'Why is it foolish to follow one's heart?'

Everesta says 'I assume you had figured that out.'

Elmitsu seems like she really wants to know, one hand gripping the table before her until she notices the subconscious gesture.

Everesta says 'Why would it be foolish to follow your heart?'

Everesta whips her hand as the light ball dissipates and settles it onto the table.

Elmitsu says 'Well . . . I did not ask my question correctly.'

Elmitsu says 'Half the lessons I've received since arriving at the White Tower have implied that moral, Aes Sedai, but I want to hear what you think.'

Everesta says 'When you follow your heart, you're constantly working, always doing things related to your own personal expectations of yourself.'

Everesta leans back, as if very tired.

Everesta says 'You constantly are bouncing from this meeting to that, meeting interesting people who miss their purpose, but give you a lens to look at life through, while helping you achieve your political means.'

Everesta wipes her right hand across her face as if exhausted just thinking about it.

Everesta says 'Following your heart is always go, go, go. Pushing to the brim of exhaustion chasing after what you've always wanted and just endlessly working on things you care too much about to walk away.'

Elmitsu studies the Gray Sister as if she were a wagonmaker appraising a broken axle, "I see your point, Aes Sedai."

Elmitsu says 'I wonder if there's anything worse than getting what you want and worked hard for.'

Everesta pauses and thinks for a moment.

Everesta says 'Rhetorical, child?'

Elmitsu sighs for a second before she realizes where she is, "I am sorry, Aes Sedai. But you are making me think such things."

Everesta says 'What's the difference between that and getting what you deserve?'

Elmitsu chews her lip a moment before answering, "How well you know yourself . . . maybe even like yourself."

Everesta says 'and I'll tell you a little secret, Elmitsu.'

Elmitsu leans in even further for the promise of a secret.

Everesta says 'If anyone ever asked me if who I was, I would hold a terrible grudge against them, because it is a terrible question if you don't know.'

Everesta says 'I apologize for asking it, but whatever happens in this life, it all boils down to.'

Elmitsu says 'I won't hold a terrible grudge against you, Aes Sedai.'

Everesta says 'Are you less foolish than you were yesterday? And do you like yourself?'

Elmitsu says 'I have been learning to forgive myself, Aes Sedai. I am the only one who can do that, and it's a tall order.'

Everesta says 'Another pearl of wisdom.'

Everesta says 'Elmitsu, no matter what you decide, you'll be alright.'

Elmitsu says 'I think so too, Aes Sedai. I have good teachers.'

Everesta says 'So what does the roadmap say? Where's next for you?'

Elmitsu says 'Well, it seems like -you- can keep a secret, so I'll say I had narrowed my choices to the Gray or Blue.'

Everesta says 'Secrets I can keep.'

Elmitsu says 'But ever since I found the body . . .'

Elmitsu says 'I think I knew. I found it in the Blue wing, after all.'

Everesta says 'A premonition.'

Everesta says 'Who would mentor you?'

Elmitsu says 'I have been taking regular lessons from Keshara Sedai.'

Everesta says 'A brilliant Aes Sedai.'

Everesta says 'and the Gray? Why do we sit on your list?'

Elmitsu says 'I have always enjoyed my lessons with the Gray, and Chloro Sedai seems to have taken an interest in my education.'

Everesta nods in agreement.

Everesta says 'Terrible reasons to be interested.'

Elmitsu says 'And I -am- good at making friends!'

Everesta says 'A decent reason.'

Everesta says 'Elmitsu'

Everesta looks at you directly.

Elmitsu blinks her eyes like a doll.

Elmitsu says 'Yes, Aes Sedai?'

Everesta says 'The Gray Ajah would be lucky to have you as an apprentice because you are capable of being discreet and you seem capable of being self-reflective.'

Everesta says 'The latter is yet to be proven, but you demonstrate what is necessary to take the strings of someone's narrative and tie them into a reason for them to take action. The world needs more people looking at intentions and seeing the best in others.'

Elmitsu lowers her head, "Thank you, Aes Sedai."

Everesta says 'But, you decide what you want in life and remember the difference between perception and reality.'

Elmitsu looks up to meet Everesta's gaze, and, for once, remarkably, her eyes aren't even wet--despite their fierce bent, "And thank you for the good advice."

Elmitsu looks down to her tea, which she has neglected.

Everesta winks at you and stands, taking both cups to the side table and setting them down.

Everesta says 'Is there anything else I can do for you child? I have other compliments if you need them. You deserve them more than most.'

Elmitsu says 'I'll take any you wish to give, Aes Sedai, but I should not take up -too- much of your time.'

Elmitsu 's sly smile is classically hers.

Elmitsu says 'Thank you for speaking with me. It has been too long, I'd wager.'

Everesta says 'Well, Elmitsu. You're very smart. Try not to trick so many people. They deserve you, always, at your best.'

Elmitsu nods to herself thoughtfully.

Everesta says 'I have no doubt your name will be written in the annals of history, regarding presence and empathy.'

Elmitsu says 'You are right, Aes Sedai. I will . . . only trick them when it is absolutely necessary.'

Everesta nods at Elmitsu.

Elmitsu says 'Should I send for your supper?'

Everesta says 'No, I shall make you stand here much longer.'

Everesta winks at you.

Everesta tries to open the carveddoor, but can't.

Elmitsu senses Everesta connecting to the True Source.

Elmitsu rises smoothly from the chair she'd perched on all this time while watching the Aes Sedai.

Everesta gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Everesta says 'Enjoy your night, child, reflect on what we spoke of.'

Elmitsu says 'The Light keep you, Everesta Sedai. I hope we can speak again very soon.'

Elmitsu bobs in deference, very much an apple in water, as she makes toward the Meeting Room's exit.

Total:
Elmitsu: 3 RPQPs
Everesta: 3 QPs
Aleera: 2 RPQPs
Coshe: 2 RPKudos
Melosa: 1 RPKudo

Please say "receive" at a silver-haired Aes Sedai for your QP/RPQP rewards, or say "pickup" at a room with the appropriate mobol (e.g., Warders’ Practice Yard) to receive your rewards once you have earned 3 or more RPKudos.
