The Warders' Practice Yard
A large expanse of bare ground at least fifty paces across and nearly twice
as long stretches forth, its earth beaten hard. At intervals around it
under the trees stand wooden stands holding quarterstaffs and practice
swords made of strips of wood bound loosely together, and a few real swords
and axes and spears. A large gray stone building lies to the east, home to
the warder students and those warders who are not sharing quarters with
their Aes Sedai in the main Tower structure itself.

A sign hangs on the wall.

Alitherin smiles at Isela.

It starts to snow.

Alitherin says 'Good afternoon!'

Isela says 'Good to see you again, Alitherin'

Isela says 'Have you chosen a path yet?'

Alitherin says 'I am fairly certain that the Red Ajah is the path for me.'

Alitherin says 'Next time I see Evaine Sedai, we are hoping to discuss my potential.'

Isela taps a finger to her lips once.

Isela says 'How did you arrive at that decision?'

Alitherin says 'We were cut short by an urgent need for her to take care of some madmen last I was
awake.'

Isela frowns.

Alitherin chuckles politely.

Isela says 'There seem to be more of those about lately.'

Alitherin says 'I believe she took care of them.'

Isela 's expression darkens.

Alitherin says 'That is part of the reason for my decision!'

Isela says 'Good.'

Alitherin says 'They seem to be growing in number.'

Isela says 'It is worrisome.'

Isela says 'I wonder why so many seem to be appearing lately.'

Alitherin says 'Maybe something in the water.'

Alitherin looks at the fountain distrustfully.

Isela allows a small smile.

Isela says 'Have you had an opportunity to test yourself against these... men?'

Isela emphasizes the word distastefully.

Alitherin says 'Really though, our spar, and then a few spars with Sarinda Sedai helped affirm my
decision. That, and Tar Valon getting raided by Dreadlords, and when I was a Novice, a Damane and a
Madman.'

Isela nods at Alitherin.

Alitherin says 'I was able to stop a man named Davante when I was a Novice, here in Tar Valon, and a
leashed Damane named Barb'

Isela's expression sours again thinking of damane.

Alitherin says 'More recently, I fought Axxye and Teveyl just to the east after a larger raid.'

Isela says 'Need maketh the woman, I suppose.'

Isela smiles at Alitherin.

Alitherin says 'From what it sounds like, you have been very busy with these new Dragonsworn!'

Isela says 'They are a troublesome lot.'

Alitherin says 'I started practicing a new weave I learned from Sheriam Sedai because of it.'

Isela says 'What's that?'

Isela 's face brightens at the mention of weaves.

Alitherin grins and talks with her hands animatedly.

Alitherin says 'I have learned to slice weaves!'

Alitherin says 'It is quite quick.'

Isela grins. 'Situational, but very effective indeed. Have you practiced it much?'

Alitherin says 'I have learned it, but only used in a classroom setting.'

Isela says 'Come to think of it, the last time I spoke with Evaine Sedai about this weave, she gave me
a task.'

Isela smiles mischievously. 'Want to help?'

Alitherin says 'I'd love to help'

Isela beckons Alitherin to follow her.

Alitherin starts following Isela.



Outside Tar Valon......

The Camp of the Charcoal Burners
Three enormous stacks of wood have been carefully constructed, thin logs
piled around each other in a mound as high as a short man and covered in
cut turf. Low stumps litter the nearby forest, testament to the source of
the wood. A fourth, incomplete stack lies nearby, a pyramid of logs rising
from within. A stack of iron plates pierced with holes lies besides it. To
the north, a small tent of cured hide is pegged to the heavy, clay soil.

A campfire burns slowly, sending smoke into the sky.
A gray palfrey prances skittishly nearby, being ridden by you.
A portly charcoal burner stands here, tending the fires.
Alitherin has arrived from the south.

White smoke begins to billow out of the mounds.

Alitherin warms her hand by the campfire.

Isela says 'So, I've used this weave in combat quite a bit, but there is one thing I haven't yet
tried.'

Isela senses Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Alitherin says 'What do you need me to do?'

Alitherin smiles happily.

Isela says 'It seems as though you need to be able to see your target. That is, the person weaving at
you, not necessarily their weaves.'

Alitherin looks at Isela.

Isela says 'Slice weaves can be used on both saidar and saidin weaves'

Isela says 'But I'm curious - '

Isela says 'Could you use it if you're blind?'

Alitherin says 'Interesting idea!'

Isela says 'Let's practice the weave without blinding first.'

Alitherin says 'I assume not while unengaged, but possibly once engaged?'

Alitherin nods in agreement.

Isela says 'It can be used engaged or not, but if you don't find them actively weaving, it does
nothing.'

Isela says 'Let's start and I'll show you what it looks like.'

Alitherin says 'I believe Saridna Sedai said if it completes at the end of a weave, it will fail?'

Alitherin says '(PONR)'

The clouds disappear.

Isela senses Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Isela says 'Yes, if the person finishes their weave at the same time you attempt a slice, it will
fail.'

Alitherin says 'What would you like me to weave on you?'

Alitherin says 'I could do a longer weave on myself, as well.'

Isela says 'Try to blind me perhaps'

Isela feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Alitherin says 'Okay, i will try a blind'

Alitherin nods in agreement.

Isela senses Alitherin is channeling saidar.
Isela begins to weave the appropriate flows...

Isela lashes out with razor-fine ribbons of Fire and Spirit, severing Alitherin's flows.

Alitherin gasps in astonishment.

Alitherin says 'My weave was severed!'

Isela says 'So as long as you're actively weaving, I can cut you off.'

Alitherin nods in agreement.

Isela nods at Alitherin.

Isela says 'Unfortunately it doesn't cut you off from the Source completely, but supposedly it does
cause you to stumble a bit (small lag, though that's up for debate)'

Alitherin says 'Cutting off from the source entirely would be deadly!'

Alitherin says 'I can imagine what Shield must be like.'

Isela says 'I've heard there are advanced forms of this weave that have better effects (ooc may be
changes in the queue)'

Alitherin shivers uncomfortably.

Isela says 'Funny you mention that. My class will be on Slice Weaves and Shield.'

Alitherin smiles happily.

Alitherin says 'I look forward to it!'

Isela senses Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Isela suddenly turns to look back toward the west.

Isela says 'Looks like we may be in danger soon.'

Isela says 'Let's test blind'

Alitherin nods in agreement.

Isela says 'Go ahead and blind me.'

Isela senses Alitherin connecting to the True Source.

Isela senses Alitherin is channeling saidar.

The air around Isela's eyes seems to catch fire, blinding her!

Isela says 'Do you have warding vs. damage?'

Someone says 'I do'

Isela says 'Try to weave that on yourself.'

Isela attempts to slice weaves by targeting Alitherin, but it doesn't work.

Someone forms a beautiful weave of white light about someone's body.

Isela says 'Nope.'

Isela says 'Engage me, then try to ice spike me.'

Someone tries to strike Isela, but she parries successfully.

Dank shadows shroud the trees, the sun dipping beneath the horizon.

Isela says 'So. Important note. If you're engaged, you can slice the weaves of the person you're
engaged on IF you don't include a target when you weave.'

Isela senses Alitherin is channeling saidar.

Alitherin gestures briefly at Alitherin, who now appears more impressive somehow.

Isela senses Alitherin is channeling saidar.

Alitherin says 'Similar to Flame Strike in that manner'

Isela says '(Just channel 'slice weaves', not channel 'slice weaves' alitherin)'

Isela nods in agreement.

Isela says 'let's head back inside.'

Alitherin says 'I believe both that and Ice Spikes and Fireball can work that way'

Alitherin nods in agreement.

Alitherin starts following Isela.

Isela says 'This was a very valuable test! Thanks for helping me.'

Alitherin says 'I'm happy to help!'
