Who is Winston?

[Amilesa]

Summary: Amilesa returns to Tar Valon after travelling and stops in the Square as a discussion was just wrapping up. The Accepted is quickly brought into the conversation by the Aes Sedai, like a cold bucket of water when you aren't looking. Catisune's interest in certain animals and or taxidermy surfaced as Everesta and Aelrena Sedais catch up. Amilesa makes a not to herself to ask about Winston the next time she sees Catisune Sedai.

Disclaimer: Up until the end of the log I thought that the taxidermied owl was in a hat Catisune was wearing, but it was actually in her bag. Since my reactions were based off of bird hat, I kept it in. So there I was with an eccentric Brown who somehow had a stuffed owl attached to her hat talking to me, and in my head I was envisioning a southern churchlady out front of the church catching you on your way to the picnic and you didn't know if she treated the stuffed pet as still alive.




Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.

Aiyhlo says 'I will discuss this with the power that be, and make sure they respond quickly as I know they would like to move past this incident'

Aelrena whispers something to Catisune.

Amilesa gets off her horse and curtsies to the Aes Sedai.

Everesta nods at Aiyhlo.

Everesta says 'I appreciate that. How should I wait?'

Zhisom has arrived from the east.

Catisune is stooped in huddled coversation with Aelrena and does not notice the Accepted for a long time. When she finally does so, she seems nearly startled, her large eyes growing somehow larger.

Catisune says 'Accepted . . . . ?'

Catisune seems to be fishing for a name.

Aiyhlo says 'Well I am in discussion with them now'

Catisune looks at Amilesa.

Everesta says 'We have not learned how to not want by wanting, instead learn how to wait by waiting.'

Everesta gives a sly wink to Catisune

Aelrena shakes her head.

Amilesa stays silent a moment, then gives a sudden start.

Amilesa says 'Amilesa. Accepted Amilesa, Aes Sedai.'

Zhisom holds his swollen and bruised left arm.

Aiyhlo says 'I should have someone available to discuss it psot haste'

Amilesa hastily performs another curtsy.

Catisune grumbles, half to herself, though one could properly consider it a stage whisper 'How am I to know their names if they all look the same?'

Zhisom unwraps a bandage and exams the wound.

Zhisom rewraps the bandage.

Zhisom stops resting, and clambers on his feet.

Catisune looks at Zhisom.

Everesta says 'I should have expected no less.'

Aiyhlo chuckles politely.

Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.

Aelrena says 'I believe that's enough air for now.'

Aelrena whispers something to Catisune.

Everesta looks at Aelrena.

Everesta says 'Are you all right, Sister?'

Everesta says 'Enough air?'

Catisune says 'Too much time out of the library might see her color unflatteringly!'

Amilesa gets a foldable fan from her pack and offers it to the Aes Sedai.

Everesta studies Aelrena for some time.

Catisune judges Aelrena's wan complexion with keen eyes and pursed lips.

Aelrena turns back toward the Tower before pausing, "Oh yes. I've merely been told I should leave the library more than once a month."

Everesta says 'There are other things you should worry about, Sister.'

Zhisom leaves south riding a wild stallion.

Everesta looks at Amilesa.

Catisune barks a laugh sharper than a red stone dagger.

Everesta says 'Well, Accepted, what do you think?'

Catisune rounds on Amilesa as if on cue 'Yes. What do you think?'

Aiyhlo says 'Just a moment, I will make sure to provide the details and suggestions. I will return momentarily'

Aiyhlo leaves south.

Aelrena brushes her hair back from her face, causing her earring to sway from side to side.

Amilesa gives another start as the Aes Sedai turn their attention on her.

Everesta looks at Amilesa.

Aiyhlo has arrived from the south.

Amilesa says 'About what, Aes Sedai?'

Aiyhlo beams a smile at Everesta.

Everesta turns away from the Accepted.

Amilesa looks from one Aes Sedai to the other, then back at Everesta.

Everesta says 'News, Captain?'

A local woman has arrived from the west.

Catisune mutters something under her breath, though she seems to direct it at the taxidermied owl head peeking from her bag.

Aiyhlo says 'My recommendation has been made, I have noted a suggestion. I believe Lady Aira will be reaching out to you shortly'

Everesta smiles in turn and gestures with appreciation toward Aiyhlo.

Everesta says 'This is good news, thank you for your influence and presence, Sun Captain Aiyhlo.'

Amilesa beams a smile at the Sun Captain.

Aiyhlo says 'Glad to be of assistance in progressing with this discussion'

Everesta says 'Once again, Cairhien will have the White Tower in its debt.'

Catisune seems to have forgotten the question she posed to the Accepted, though she has cheated the owl so that its dead eyes face the girl.

Aiyhlo says 'Cairhien is glad to be of service'

Everesta looks at Amilesa.

Amilesa takes a single gulp of air, then a small step backward toward the fountain.

A local woman has arrived from the south.

Aiyhlo says 'I must be on my way. Thank you again Everesta Sedai'

Everesta says 'Off to somewhere, Accepted?'

Aiyhlo bows deeply.

Everesta thanks Aiyhlo heartily.

Everesta says 'Thank you Sun Captain, Light guide you.'

Amilesa makes a pointed effort to get her water skin out of her belt.

Aelrena's lips quirk upward, before she stoops to examine the side of the fountain and murmurs quietly to herself.

Aiyhlo says 'and pleasure being in the presence of such a lovely group of people'

Aiyhlo winks suggestively.

Aiyhlo leaves south.

Catisune says 'The Light favors Cairhien, as ever!'

Catisune is late in her delivery, classically.

Everesta says 'Almost.'

Amilesa says 'Oh, no, Aes Sedai. I just need to ensure my skin is full. I must always be prepared.'

Everesta says 'Is that what you think about?'

Everesta nods to herself, she must need reassurance.

Everesta says 'Preparation is good, then.'

Amilesa spares the Aes Sedai's hat a half-second glance before bending over the fountain.

Catisune jostles her tawny bag of sewing trinkets such that all visible contents descend from view.

Amilesa says 'Who is Winston, Aes Sedai?'

Aelrena's attention moves from the fountain to the stones of the street as she begins to follow something she sees there, slowly moving away from the gathered group.

Aelrena whispers something to Catisune.

Catisune perks up visibly.

Catisune says 'Why, Winston is the stuffed Saldaean great owl I keep in my bag. Would you like to see?'

Everesta whispers something to Aelrena.

Amilesa gets some dried fruit from her pack and sets it on the edge of the fountain, within sight of the never-blinking hat.

Amilesa says 'I can see it just fine from here, thank you, Aes Sedai.'

Amilesa takes another step back, this time finding herself sitting on top of some dried fruit.

Everesta says 'Aelrena can you run this to the library?'

Everesta passes a book to Aelrena.

Catisune corrects, if gently, 'He, dear. Winston uses he/him pronouns.'

Aelrena looks up from the stones, her eyebrows raised into her hairline.

Catisune says 'And this . . .'

Amilesa clears her throat.

Catisune gestures dramatically to the cat.

Everesta looks at a black cat.

Catisune says 'Is Trouble!' <----- I'll try to introduce myself to Trouble another night. Another missed opportunity.

Amilesa reaches a hand under her and wipes the dried fruit away into a tidy pile.

Aelrena says 'Are you asking what I do, or are you suggesting that I am commonly reasonable with my time allotments?'

Catisune says 'Aelrena, have you been to the Tuatha'an camp in the Caralain grass?'

Amilesa stops paying increased attention to her surroundings.

Everesta nods in agreement.

Everesta says 'Quite reasonable, indeed.'

The Pantry
The room has somehow been made to be as cool as a springhouse in order to
keep the food fresh. Sacks of different varieties of flour and seasonings
are stacked against one of the walls. A shelf placed against a second wall
holds jars of preserved fruits and cartons of eggs, and barrels of wines
from different countries fill the rest of the room. A thick wooden door
with a small barred window lies on the east wall, overlooking a graveled
stretch of the garden, allowing supplies to be brought in with ease.

Aelrena fiddles with her earring absently before recovering a tome from her bag and moving to sit upon the bench.

Everesta looks up as a Tower Guard enters the square, passing her a sheet of paper.

Everesta frowns as she reads it.

Amilesa says 'I am sure you have other things that took precedent, should that have been the case.'

Amilesa tilts her head.

Everesta says 'Sisters, the time has come. I must leave you.'

Everesta looks at Amilesa.

Everesta says 'Accepted, we should meet.'

Amilesa says 'Do you think you would remember me now, the next time we meet, Aes Sedai?'

Everesta gestures fondly a farewell, but is lost in thought as she leaves.

Everesta leaves north.

Catisune would be pouting if Aes Sedai pouted, but they don't.

Nevirha has arrived from the north.

Nevirha looks at Amilesa.

Amilesa says 'Let me go rectify the refreshment situation. I am sure Eliyana Sedai has the necessary paperwork.'

Nevirha says 'Surely there is a more appropriate place to rest this so that the Brown doesn't feel the need to touch it with her slippers.'

Catisune nudges the platter with her slippered toe once more and seems in danger of toppling on top of it. Her arms windmill as she flails toward Nevirha.

Nevirha says 'Perhaps the issue lies more with the Brown, then.'

Amilesa gestures to the platter resting on the flat side of the fountain's edge.

Catisune might fall into the fountain if Nevirha does not catch her.

Nevirha shrugs her shoulders slightly as she watches Catisune's acrobatics.

Amilesa deftly intervenes and places her shoulder within range.

Aelrena idly sips from a goblet of cider, absently placing it back on the platter as she reads.

Catisune rights herself at the last with an assist from Aelrena--quite a feat that she does not drag them both into the fountain.

Amilesa brushes herself off and makes herself busy rearranging the platter in a more organized fasshion.

Nevirha says 'Sisters, I am afraid I must sneak away again.'

Catisune says, if a touch lamely 'The wine is good, Accepted.'

A Tower Guard has arrived from the east.

Amilesa curtseys before Nevirha.

Hadis tries to drink but misses his mouth!

Aelrena blinks quickly, eyes widening as she braces herself to support Catisune, "You really should be more careful, sister."

Aelrena looks at Nevirha.

Nevirha says 'Be well.'

Nevirha leaves north.

Aelrena says 'Oh! Nevirha!'

Aelrena frowns.

Amilesa turns northward toward the Tarloman's gate.

Catisune says 'Time is a construct, Aelrena.'

Hadis says 'just count the raised hairs on the back of your neck.'

The fountain splashes merrily, light sparkling beautifully on the surface of the water.

Hadis winks suggestively.

Catisune feels absently at the back of her own neck with her free hand. The other holds the goblet of wine.

Aelrena says 'Hmmm, I think I have business to attend to.'

Aelrena quickly glides north without another word.

Aelrena leaves north.

Catisune mutters something to her taxidermied owl, though he is no longer visible from the rim of her tawny bag.

Catisune rummages in her bag.

Catisune says 'Let me know what you think of this, dear.'

Amilesa holds her hand up to her face and sneezes.

Catisune says 'Light favor you, Accepted.'

Catisune says 'Seek me for a lesson soon?'

Catisune strides from the square in a flurry of scritching russet skirts.

Amilesa says 'Of course, Aes Sedai.'

Catisune leaves north.

Amilesa mutters to herself 'That is the third one I have run off.'

Amilesa shrugs to herself and picks up the platter from the edge of the fountain.

I would want to meet Winston as well. If a taxidermized animal is named, there must be a story behind it.
