Chloro Sedai and Frya Sedai gauge the potential of a new girl put in whites and one that is been in whites for some time. After completeing the rosebud technique, Vistra debates with the full sisters the first oath.

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
Lady Fyra a'Lodred, a Beacon of Light and Life is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.

Vistra has arrived from the east.

Maddy has arrived from the east.

Vistra curtseys gracefully.

Fyra smiles happily.

Maddy curtseys before you.

Fyra looks at Maddy.

Vistra says 'Good day again Aes Sedai. I have found our new novice Maddy.'

Fyra nods at Maddy.

Maddy says 'Hello Aes Sedai'

Fyra says 'Greetings Novice.'

Maddy beams a smile at Fyra.

Fyra says 'How was your tour?'

Maddy says 'I was just going to go through it again to cement it to my brain.'

Fyra nods in agreement.

Maddy says 'but it was very well-done Kudo's to Vistra'

Fyra nods at Vistra.

Chloro smiles seeing the two girls enter as she pours a glass of single molt for herself and one for Fyra. Gracefully she glides to the gilded couch offering her sister a glass. “This is the new one I had mentioned sister, she is spark born, most uncommon these days."

Fyra smiles happily.

Fyra nods at you.

Vistra smiles at Maddy, 'Thank you for that. The tower is a big and maze-like place.

Fyra takes a sip from her glass.

Vistra eats a plate with bread and green veined cheese.

Chloro says 'Have you turned in your Attendance slip and the dustpan?'

Maddy says 'The Attendance but not the dustpan.'

Maddy says 'that was my next stop.'

Chloro says 'See it is returned to Mistress Laras after please.'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'She did find quite a few though. I need to do a better job.'

Maddy grins at Vistra.

Vistra looks down at her feet shifting her weight between the two.

Maddy says 'I am not afraid of chores so hopefully your load will be lighter now.'

Vistra beams a smile at Maddy.

Chloro motions to the carpet in front of the two full sisters. "Novice Vistra, please assist our newest charge Maddy through the rosebud technique."

Maddy smiles encouragingly at Vistra

Vistra settles down cross-legged on the carpet.

Fyra sits on the couch near Chloro, watching Vistra intently.

Vistra says 'Maddy please settle down beside me and please get comfortable.'

Vistra sits down.

Maddy sits beside Vistra crossing her legs in the same fashion.

Chloro takes a small sip of her whiskey as she watches both girls with interest her gray eyes seeming there and far away at the same time.

Vistra says 'While you are getting comfortable I want you to understand that this important in many ways.'

Vistra says 'It is a practice of mediation. It is a way to allow Saidar to flow through you.'

You sense Fyra connecting to the True Source.

You sense Fyra is channeling saidar.

Vistra says 'The first step is to calm your breathing. Slow breathes in and out.'

Fyra sits down and rests.

Vistra trains her voice to be soft and easy, 'Now listen closely to my voice.'

Maddy Maddy closes her eyes concentrating on Vistra's words and her own breathing.

Chloro watches Maddy check for pulse and body language as she gauges Vistra's tone.

Vistra says 'Even though you can already get in touch with the source this is an important practice.'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'Now I want you to picture in your mind a rolling field with grass swaying in the wind.'

Maddy breaths slower and more evenly as her shoulders release tension

Vistra says 'Now in the center of this field is a single flower. A beautiful white lily.'

Vistra says 'This lily can you now focus only on it?'

Maddy smiles softly and continues to breathe evenly.

Vistra says 'This lily is you. Be the lily. Feel the breeze flowing over your petals and leaves.'

Vistra says 'This lily is not open though. It is closed. Not yet bloomed.'

Vistra says 'Now please feel the warmth of the sun on the closed bud that is you.'

Vistra says 'Slowly turn towards the sun. Feel the heat of the sun. Concentrate on that heat.'

Chloro takes herself to the brink of embracing should the girl’s lose control as she watches both intently.

Vistra says 'Can you feel the heat from the sun as it warms your closed petals?'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'Now slowly ever so slowly begin opening up one petal at a time.'

Vistra says 'Can you feel the warmth flowing through you?'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Fyra tells you 'i love when old players come back'

Maddy says 'yes Vistra its wonderful.'

Vistra says 'That is Saidar. Now there is not a way to control Saidar we more likely direct it. Kind of like putting your hand in a river and you can direct the flow.'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'Saidar is very powerful and can be dangerous.'

Vistra says 'But it is also something that is so beautiful and can do so many amazing things.'

Chloro maintains her closeness to saidar as she continues to watch the Novices.

Vistra says 'Now how do you feel Maddy?'

Vistra Nods to Fyra, 'That is one of the specialties of Fyra Sedai.

Fyra smiles happily.

Fyra nods in agreement.

Maddy says 'I feel very relaxed and full like i have just had a really good sleep and ate a wonderful meal.'

Maddy beams a smile at Fyra.

Vistra says 'Now let’s slowly release the power.'

Vistra says 'It will make you feel a little empty, but just know it is always right over our shoulder.'

Chloro takes another sip watching the girls weighing and measuring each of them as they proceed through the hardest part.

Maddy slowly opens her eyes as her breathing goes back to normal, you see a look of slight disappointment on her face.

Vistra says 'Now go back to closing the flower. It takes great concentration.'

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'Again take deep breaths and turn away from the light.'

Maddy concentrates on closing the buds by imagining small snowflakes landing on the petals forcing them to close.

Vistra says 'Now close the bud completely.'

Vistra says 'How do you feel?'

Maddy lets out a small sigh as the last petal closes and she releases saidar

Vistra says 'How do you feel?'

Maddy says 'I feel like I am hungry, but I know I am not'

Vistra gives a plate of hot stew with some bread to Maddy.

Maddy beams a smile at Vistra.

Maddy says 'does it help to eat'

Fyra gets a mug of ale from a small purse.

Fyra drinks water from a mug of ale.

Maddy tastes a little bit of a plate of hot stew with some bread.

Fyra says 'It's water.'

Vistra says 'Go ahead and eat. I find it comforting.'

Fyra smirks.

Fyra puts a mug of ale in a small purse.

Chloro chuckles and looks to Fyra then back to the novices. "That hunger does not go away child, but in time you learn to suppress it."

Vistra snickers softly.

Maddy nods in agreement.

Vistra nods at you.

Vistra says 'You did very well Maddy.'

Maddy says 'Thank You Vistra'

Maddy beams a smile at Vistra.

Chloro says 'I think you have done enough for today Maddy, one thing you will learn in the tower, is not to test your limits too far. Please see mistress Laras before you continue on your way. You are dismissed Maddy.'

Fyra smiles happily.

Vistra beams a smile at Maddy.

Fyra nods in agreement.

Vistra clambers to her feet.

Fyra says 'Nice work today, Novice.'

Chloro says 'Vistra stay a moment.'

Maddy stands up and moves to the door.

Vistra nods at you.

Vistra sits down.

Maddy opens the carveddoor.

Maddy leaves east. >>

Vistra turns her full attention to Chloro Sedai.

Chloro watches the new novice leave then turns back to her student. 'Vistra, you have been with us some time now. I have seen your train, have you begun to gravitate towards one Ajah more than others?"

Vistra says 'Honestly Chloro Sedai I have. When I was a little girl working on the farm one of my favorite things was taking care of the animals.'

Vistra says 'A lot of times this meant trying to treat them from any malady.'

Fyra smiles happily.

Fyra looks at Vistra.

Vistra says 'I have spent time with Ashlynn Sedai and she showed me some amazing things that can be done with Saidar to heal things and people.'

Vistra says 'I know that there is so much to learn from each Ajah though, and I know there is a lot of time before I get to make that decision.'

Fyra grins toward Chloro Sedai, then returns her attention to Vistra.

Chloro says 'As much as my Yellow sisters seek those with healing ability, remember all Sedai have some ability in healing. Any Ajah has a number of healers.'

Vistra says 'Yes Chloro Sedai. Also being able to prevent injuries is extremely important.'

Fyra nods at you.

Chloro says 'Indeed it is, can you tell me Vistra, what is the first oath?'

Vistra says 'Plus there is so much knowledge that can be learned. I know that the Gray's keep war from happening, and that saves so many people from injury.'

Vistra says 'To speak no word that is not true.'

Chloro says 'Out of the three oaths which do you view the hardest to live by?'

Vistra says 'The first Chloro Sedai.'

Fyra smirks.

Fyra nods in agreement.

Chloro says 'Explain child.'

Vistra says 'I had a lengthy discussion with Aelrena Sedai about this topic.'

Vistra says 'I feel that the spirit of this oath is to gain trust to the people of the nations because of the breaking.'

Vistra says 'So to keep to the spirit of the oath one has to be very knowledgeable on many different subjects.'

Vistra says 'I understand that if the Aes Sedai truly believes what she says then she is not breaking the oath.'

Fyra nods in agreement.

Vistra says 'But what if she is wrong and the person, she is talking to knows the truth?'

Chloro debates the last statement for a moment. "While Aes Sedai try to be knowledgeable, conviction plays a part. IF someone believes something to be true then who is to say it is not?"

Vistra says 'Then that person looks at the Aes Sedai and thinks she is not telling me the truth, so the trust is lost and that is the purpose of the oath.'

Fyra says 'Also, if one is not SURE they are correct, they should preface their statement with that, no?'

Vistra says 'Yes Chloro Sedai that was the same objection that Aelrena Sedai made.'

Chloro says 'Indeed, Moiraine Sedai is fond of saying "The truth you hear may not always be the one spoken."'

Vistra says 'Yes, but does that go against the spirit of the Oath?'

Vistra says 'If we are talking in riddles then people will not trust us.'

Fyra says 'The oath is that we don't lie. DOes it not build even more trust to honestly admit you may not know something?'

Chloro says 'It does not, while we will always speak the truth, we cannot control what others think of the words we say or the context we give them in.'

Vistra says 'I agree completely Fyra Sedai.'

Fyra nods at you.

Chloro says 'Here is a good example.'

Vistra says 'I understand that Chloro Sedai, but what is the purpose of the Oath if not to build trust. I feel that the way we use the oath does not build trust.'

Chloro says 'Take a raven. An Aes Sedai would say a raven is black. Now a towns person could take the literal meaning that a raven is black or may conceive that the raven is spying for the dark one because an Aes Sedai said it was black. Context and Verbiage are the weapons and shields the Gray ajah wields.'

Vistra says 'Exactly. That is why I believe the first oath is the hardest to keep Chloro Sedai.'

Chloro says 'Perception child, people left with the simplest explanation will often be the happiest. The general populace is aware we cannot lie, so they are comforted in that. A King or Lord may think differently.'

Fyra nods at you.

Vistra says 'I agree completely Chloro Sedai.'

Fyra says 'I would agree, personally, that the first is the hardest to keep.'

Fyra smirks.

Chloro says 'We will continue your lessons in future, I would encourage you to seek out other Gray sisters to learn from as well as all Aes Sedai.'

Vistra says 'I would love more instruction Chloro Sedai.'

Chloro says 'Do you have any questions for the Novice sister?'

Fyra says 'I do not at this time.'

Chloro says 'Then I release you back to your daily chores Novice Vistra, however, be on notice, we will be watching...'

Vistra says 'I would like to thank you both for you time Aes Sedai. I understand your time is valuable.'

Vistra clambers to her feet.

Fyra nods in agreement.

Vistra curtseys gracefully.

Chloro says 'Light illumine you novice.'

Vistra opens the carveddoor.

Vistra leaves east. >>

I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and saw it as an excellent demonstration of growth by Vistra in particular. It is always nice to see several Aes Sedai working together when training initiates.
