Summary: Runaway suld'dam, Iryela, makes her way to Tar Valon to determine whether the marath'damane who told her she could learn to channel was lying. She meets an empathetic Accepted and enrolls as a novice in the White Tower.
POV: Ilyera
Main characters: Ilyera, Aleera, Aelrena
Also present: Vistra
Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.
A large banner rests here, depicting a map of Tar Valon.

A soft leather pouch has been discarded here.
A belt of tanned leather has been laid here.
A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
Dark, wavy hair falls to this young woman's shoulders. Inquisitive green eyes look out from beneath thin brows. She wears a white dress, brightened at hem and cuffs with bands of color.
Iryela wrinkles her face nervously.
Aleera gets twenty Tar Valon marks from a soft leather pouch.
Aleera looks at Iryela.
Aleera smiles to Iryela, "Good day."
Iryela eyes Aleera's light ball with a wary look.
Iryela drawls, a nervous tone in her voice, 'Good day to you.'
Iryela absently fingers her right wrist with her left hand.
Aleera asks, "Do you need any help finding anything in the city?"
It starts to rain.
Iryela drawls, 'Finding anything? No... I... I think I am fine. I just...'
Iryela trails off, flustered.
Iryela is standing here, eyes nervously darting around the square.
Iryela looks at Aleera's light ball once again, panic showing on her face.
Iryela shakes her head, quietly repeating, 'It's not right. It's not right. It's not right.'
Iryela senses Aleera connecting to the True Source.
Aleera lets out a slow breath and nods, "It was strange to me as well."
Iryela drawls, 'Strange....how?'
The sun casts a golden glow over the city.
Aleera shares, "Where I grew up, something like that," and she gestures to where the globe of light just recently was, "would have resulted in serious trouble."
Aleera drinks water from a leather water flask.
Iryela stutters, 'M...m...m...me too....'
Iryela narrows her brows, pinching her face and drawls, 'But I felt something from you just before you spoke. I....felt....something...'
Iryela absently touches her right wrist again.
Aleera nods and softly says, "Oh, I see. You've never felt this way before?"
Iryela drawls, 'It is not possible for me to feel this way! This is a trick!'
Iryela presses the palms of her hand against her eyes.
Iryela murmurs quietly, 'She HAD to be lying. It's a lie. It's a marath’damane trick.'
Aleera gestures to the bench, "Do you want to sit down?"
Iryela removes her hands from her eyes and nods.
Aleera asks, "Who lied to you?"
Aelrena has arrived from the north.
Vistra has arrived from the north.
Iryela drawls, 'The marath’damane...'
Vistra curtseys gracefully.
Aelrena settles onto the bench beside the fountain, gesturing for the novice to sit beside her.
Vistra says 'good day accepted Aleera'
Aelrena sits down.
Iryela moves to the bench and has a seat, tucking her knees into her chest.
Vistra sits down on a bench.
Vistra stops using a water skin.
Vistra drinks water from a water skin.
Vistra drinks water from a water skin.
Vistra puts a water skin on her belt.
Aleera bobs a quick curtsey to Aelrena. She stands nearby to Iryela. She asks, "A ... a damane told you what? That you could channel?"
Aelrena glances between the Accepted and the girl she's speaking to. After a moment, her attention returns to the novice beside her.
Vistra listens intently.
Aelrena whispers something to Vistra.
Iryela nods and buries her face into her knees, shoulders shaking softly as she cries.
Iryela lifts her face just a hair and mumbles, 'I was going to collar her, and she told me she felt
something in me and that I should be a damane and...'
Iryela wipes her eyes with the backs of her hands and sits up straighter.
Aelrena nods along to the novice, her eyes returning to the other pair speaking in the square.
Iryela drawls, 'I knew the marath’damane was just trying to get out of being put in her rightful place, but I ran away anyway and came here to confirm it was a lie.'
Iryela jerks her head up proudly, glaring at everyone in the square.
Iryela drawls, 'This was a mistake. I should return to Falme. I should never have left.'
Aleera sits down beside Iryela, but shifts away as Iryela jerks. "No, she says, " you did not make a mistake."
Iryela growls, 'This is some marath’damane trick, and I am a fool for falling for it!'
Aelrena looks at Iryela.
Aelrena says 'It is simple to determine if you were lied to, child.'
Aleera gives a gentle shake of her head, "She's not here though. Not here to trick you or do
anything to you." She gestures to Aelrena, symbolically deferring to her.
Aelrena nods at Vistra.
Iryela lifts her chin proudly and screams, 'That is no proper way to address a sul'dam! I am no child!'
Iryela swiftly stands from the bench, raising herself to her full height.
Aelrena looks back to the woman speaking with the Accepted, before leaning over to whisper in the novice's ear.
Aelrena clambers to her feet.
Aelrena looks at Iryela.
Vistra nods in agreement.
Aelrena says 'I understand that you are scared. I understand that your life feels like it has been
turned upside down. '
Iryela plants her feet firmly, a defiant look on her face.
Aelrena says 'But in coming to Tar Valon you have set yourself upon a new path. One that will be
made significantly harder if believe that yelling at Aes Sedai is the proper way to test whether
your people would collar you.'
Iryela drawls, 'Sul'dam do not get scared.'
Aelrena's expression is tranquil as she looks at the Seanchan woman.
Iryela angrily wags her finger at Aelrena.
Iryela drawls, 'It will all just be marath’damane tricks, and me, foolish enough to fall for them...'
Aleera remains seated, looking up towards Iryela. Her voice remains gentle, "Aelrena Sedai can
help."
Vistra nods in agreement.
Iryela glowers.
Iryela drawls, 'And how is a marath’damane supposed to help?'
Aelrena looks at Iryela.
Aelrena says 'Consider this your first, and only warning. I am not Damane, I am Aes Sedai. I am no leashed one. Nor am I marath'damane. If you allow me, I will help you. But if you insist on arguing and yelling I'll ensure you're taught a harsher lesson than any you received in your life as a sul'dam.'
Aelrena says 'Have I made myself clear, girl?'
Iryela narrows her eyes, glaring at the three women in the square. 'You are all marath'damane. I can feel it...'
Iryela clamps her mouth shut, eyes widening at her realization.
Aelrena says 'And that very ability to feel our ability proves that you yourself have the capability
to channel.'
Iryela collapses on the bench, shaking and hugging her knees to her chest.
Aelrena turns her attention back to the novice.
Vistra shrinks back from the Aes Sedai's attention.
Aelrena whispers something to Vistra.
Aelrena whispers something to Vistra.
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Aelrena's gaze moves back to the shaking sul'dam.
Vistra clambers to her feet.
Aleera gently asks, "Will you let us try to help?"
Vistra curtseys before Aelrena.
Vistra curtseys before Aleera.
Vistra opens the TarlomensGate.
Vistra leaves north.
The TarlomensGate closes quietly.
Iryela gives the Aes Sedai a wide-eyed look and the smallest of nods, tears leaking from the corners of her eyes.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Aelrena nods at Aleera.
Aelrena beckons Iryela to follow her.
Aelrena says 'Come with me, girl.'
Aelrena says 'And you, Aleera.'
Aleera nods to Aelrena and rises up from the bench.
Aleera now follows Aelrena.
Iryela reluctantly stands up from the bench and begins following the Aes Sedai.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
The TarlomensGate is opened from the other side.
Aelrena adjusts the shawl about her shoulders before leading the pair onto Tower Grounds.
Aelrena leaves north.
Iryela follows Aelrena.
The three women move through the White Tower until they reach the study of the Brown Ajah.
Study of the Brown Ajah
Tall, arched windows in the northern wall open to a balcony, providing a
choice view of the Erinin as it flows south from the Borderlands. Half the
seating in the room is drawn up around the windows, showing that the
occupants appreciate the panorama. The remaining seats are drawn up in
circles of six to eight, allowing Brown Sisters to discuss the furtherance
of knowledge, or new theories in an informal atmosphere. Colorful wall
hangings depicting still lifes decorate the pale white walls.

Door south: door
A large desk made of fine, thick wood stands across the room from here.
Aelrena Solyan, Aes Sedai is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Brown Sister is here, frowning pensively.
Danelle Sedai, sitter for the Brown Ajah stands here deep in thought.
Aleera has arrived from the south.
Aleera curtseys to Danelle as she steps into the study.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Aelrena gestures at the door with her hand.
The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.
Iryela looks at the marath'damane warily, hands drifting to her neck.
Aelrena glides to a corner of the study before settling onto the floor with folded knees, gesturing
for the two girls to sit across from her.
Aelrena sits down.
Iryela gingerly sits in front of the Aes Sedai, hugging her knees to her chest.
Aleera steps over and then likewise settles down on to the floor.
Aelrena says 'I am uncertain how much you are taught about the One Power as a Sul'dam, as I have never had the opportunity to speak with one who did not wish to see me collared.'
Aelrena says 'That being said, I will leave much to your lessons and instead will lead you through a testing.'
Aelrena says 'Are you ready to begin?'
Iryela drawls quietly as if trying to reassure herself, 'Sul'dam cannot channel the One Power. Only...damane...'
Iryela shakes her head and drawls, more loudly, 'Yes. I am ready.'
Aelrena says 'Good, the first step is simple, close your eyes.'
Aelrena whispers something to Aleera.
Aleera lets out a slow breath, tension falling from her neck and shoulders as she, too, closes her
eyes.
Iryela closes her eyes.
Aelrena says 'Good, good. Now, imagine yourself as a flower, feel the petals as they sway in the
breeze, feel your roots stretching deep into the ground.'
Iryela allows her face to soften ever so slightly as she begins the exercise.
Aelrena's eyes move between the two girls as she continues, "Become aware of the sun overhead, its light falling upon your leaves, upon your petals. Feel the warmth that it gives as you rest under it."
Aleera's lips turn up at the corners ever so slightly with the visualization. Her chin comes
forward, face tilted a bit up towards that imagined light.
Aelrena continues her voice soft, "Let that light seep into you, feel it as it suffuses your body.
Surrender to it as it flows into you, filling you with warmth."
Iryela tilts her cheek up slightly as if feeling a warmth emanating from the ceiling of the cold
room.
Aelrena says 'Feel yourself open to that light as it falls on you, continue to let it permeate your
being as you feel the warmth of it upon you.'
Iryela senses Aelrena connecting to the True Source.
Aelrena watches the sul'dam, her expression thoughtful.
Aleera remains still, quiet, and in the moment.
Aelrena says 'Keep going child, feel that sun's light on your petals and leaves, feel it inside your
being.'
Iryela gasps and begins sobbing as she feels the Source rush into her, filling her with warmth just as the sun warms the flower.
Iryela snaps her eyes open and begins rummaging through her pouch.
Aelrena's mouth twists into a small, sad smile as she gazes at Iryela.
Iryela grabs a silver bracelet linked to a collar by a sinuous chain and throws it into the Aes
Sedai's lap, then prostrates herself in front of the Aes Sedai.
Iryela drawls, 'You must do it. You must put it on me and send me back to Falme. I do not know how I escaped the testing, but you must do it for the good of everyone.'
Aelrena looks at Iryela.
Iryela is sitting here, prostrated before Aelrena Sedai.
Aelrena says 'Child, why in the name of the Light would I do that? You are capable of learning, that does not make you a monster.'
Aelrena says 'You have come to Tar Valon, allow us to teach you what it means to be a woman who can channel, to learn to be a servant of all.'
Iryela drawls, her forehead still pressed firmly onto the ground, 'You MUST. You MUST. YOU MUST. It must be. I am not safe. You are not safe.'
Aelrena grasps the ter'angreal with one hand, an expression of disquiet flashing across her features before she tucks it away in her bag.
Aleera opens her eyes. She shifts where she sits, getting to her knees. She reaches a hand,
tentatively, and sets it on Iryela's shoulder.
Iryela flinches at Aleera's hand.
Aelrena says 'I think you'll find an Aes Sedai only does what must be done for the good of the
world.'
Aelrena says 'You can learn to channel and be proof that the collaring of your marath'damane is an injustice. You can learn to be what you've always been taught is impossible.'
Iryela weeps, shoulders shaking.
Aelrena says 'Will you allow us to teach you, child?'
Iryela nods, still sobbing and shaking violently.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Aelrena says 'Good.'
Aelrena whispers something to Aleera.
Aelrena whispers something to Aleera.
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Aelrena clambers to her feet.
Aleera gets to her feet as well. She offers a hand to Iryela.
Aelrena says 'Let us go see Sheriam then, and we'll speak about what it means to put on Novice
white.'
Aleera nods in agreement.
Iryela uncertainly takes Aleera's hand and stands, scrubbing her teary eyes and dripping nose with the sleeve of her free arm.
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Aelrena gestures with her hand.
The door smoothly swings open.
Iryela winces.
Aelrena leaves south.
Iryela follows Aelrena.
The three women continue on to the Mistress of Novices’ study.
The Mistress of Novices' Study
This is a compact, dark-paneled room full of plain sturdy furnishings that
have been used by generations of women who have held this office. The desk
near the center of the room is plainly made and heavily worn through years
of use. A large mirror with flaking gilt hangs from one of the walls. Used
for switching disobedient initiates, as well as Aes Sedai who do penance, a
bench-like contraption that has a padded leather cushion to kneel on, as
well as a padded leather area to lean on. A selection of switches, ranging
from a slender willow switch to a slipper lie on a table nearby.

Door east: woodendoor
A large desk made of fine, thick wood stands across the room from here.
Aelrena Solyan, Aes Sedai is standing here.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices studies you with a stern expression.
Aleera has arrived from the east.
Aelrena closes the woodendoor.
Aelrena says 'Now, I am certain you know little of what it means to be a novice child, so I will
speak on it briefly.'
Iryela lets go of Aleera's hand and prostrates herself before Sheriam.
Aelrena says 'Your time from now on is to be spent learning and training to be Aes Sedai. While you wear novice whites, you will spend time learning to wield the One Power, learning the Tower's history, and how to properly interact with others.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices nods at Aelrena.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'If you are young lady with the spark you may seek out an Aes Sedai, the Aes Sedai will take care of you right away.'
Iryela tilts her head slightly to take a peek at Sheriam.
Aleera steps after Iryela and crouches down beside her. "You don't need to do that." She gestures for Iryela to stand once more.
Aelrena says 'You will be confined to the island of Tar Valon, and you will never be without your
novice's dress'
Iryela raises herself up and looks about uncertainly.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Aelrena says 'You are certain that you are ready for this, child?'
Iryela 's voice trembles as she softly drawls, 'Yes.'
Aelrena says 'Once you make this decision, you will belong to the Tower and will not be easily
stricken from our number.'
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Aelrena says 'Sheriam Sedai, please add Iryela to the Book of Novices.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices scrutinizes you carefully as she eyes you up and down.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Hello iryela'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'I understand you can touch the True Source.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Well, you will not go off on your own anymore.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Henceforth you will be trained in the tower as a Novice.'
Iryela balks at Sheriam's matter-of-fact statements.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices takes a breath before continuing.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will obey your elders and instructors.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will stay here in the Novice quarters when not in the
world.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You may not leave the island of Tar Valon at any time, while a Novice.''
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will read the notices in the White Tower Forum often and heed them.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You may practice here freely, and ask me for a TASK
appropriate to a NOVICE.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Now then,'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices gives you a plain white dress.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will wear this for as long as you are noviced.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'There is no excuse for not wearing one.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices nods her head slightly.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'In addition I will form a weave about you.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Should you leave us before we are done with you,'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will not only forget all that you have learned,'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You will also be rendered a threat to none, by a block set
upon you.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'Stand still while I weave the flows.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices gestures at you with one hand.
Iryela feels an intense pain briefly in her head then it is gone as flows of spirit infuse her mind.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices nods grimly.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices makes some notes in a book on her desk.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'I will let you begin your new duties Iryela.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices says 'You may go now, use care when venturing out of the Tower.'
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices opens the woodendoor.
Aelrena nods in agreement.
Sheriam the Mistress of Novices nods dismissively.
Iryela strips out of her dark blue dress with panels of forked lightning and puts on the novice dress.
Aelrena says 'And now you'll have a chance to be free of your past.'
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Aelrena says 'Aleera.'
Aelrena looks to the Accepted, finally formally acknowledging the girl
Aleera nods, "Yes, Aelrena Sedai."
Aelrena says 'Would you please lead this child on a tour of the Tower?'
Iryela now follows Aleera.
Aleera curtseys and answers, "Of course, Aelrena Sedai. I am happy to do so."
Aelrena whispers something to Aleera.
Aleera nods in agreement.
Aelrena's lips twitch up slightly at the corners.
Aelrena says 'Thank you, child. You are dismissed, I will stay and speak with Sheriam a moment.'
Aleera nods once more and then leads Iryela out.
The two women walk through the White Tower, as Aleera tells Iryela about the layout of her new home.
In the Hallway
This gray stone hallway is plain looking, although its floor tiles of red
and green liven up the area. Two tapestries of flowered trees and
stout-beaked birds hang on the wall, so colorful they seem unlikely to be
real. An unmarked wooden door lies between the tapestries.
A roster hangs here.
[ obvious exits: N E W ]

Door west: woodendoor
Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
Aelrena Solyan, Aes Sedai is standing here.
A woman with an ageless face stands here.
Iryela looks around the hallway, fear painting her face.
A calm woman leaves north.
Aleera speaks as she walks with Iryela, "Sheriam Sedai is our Mistress of Novices, responsible for much of our training here in the White Tower. You can always go to her if you need advice or guidance. You are not the only novice here. I was recently a novice, myself. There are many who are struggling in their own ways with this big transition."
Iryela looks at Aleera skeptically and drawls, 'She is the Mistress of Novices and you do not have to show her the proper respect?'
A calm woman has arrived from the north.
Aleera's own accent pegs her from one of the southwestern nations. She tells Iryela, "Respect yes, but it is shown differently. We're asked to curtsey to the Aes Sedai, but we need not place
ourselves on the ground."
Iryela purses her lips and nods.
Aleera says, "if you know their name, you would add Sedai after their name, as an honorific as well, so Sheriam Sedai. Or," she gestures after the Brown Sitter who had just left, "Aelrena Sedai."
A calm woman has arrived from the east.
Iryela drawls, 'Your customs are strange. I cannot imagine speaking to one of the Blood as if we were equals.'
A calm woman leaves east.
Aleera slowly walks around this level of the Tower with Iryela.
In the Plain Corridor
This corridor runs straight from the Tower's central spiralling hallway to
the north-eastern wing of the Tower, which houses the novices. The eastern
wing is nine levels high, however only the bottom three levels are in use
and connected to the main Tower building through this door. This part of
the structure is plain, with gray stone floors banded with tiles of green
and red. An ironbound wooden door sits in an archway leading to the east.

Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
A woman with an ageless face stands here.
Aleera gestures to the door to the east, "The novice quarters are just through here. It is one of
the safest locations within the Tower."
Iryela nods in agreement.
Aleera gestures back down the hall that cuts across the northern side of the tower, to the hall they passed midway, "Just back there are classrooms used for some of our lessons."
Iryela looks over her shoulder at the empty hallway.
Aleera heads upstairs and slowly walks all about the Tower's circumference with Iryela. She
indicates each Ajah's respective hall as they pass it, starting with the Blue and ending with the
Green as they make a complete circuit, "The Sisters have their quarters and respective studies,
observatories, and such up here. Any of them may call on you to come to them for a discussion, or other matter, but they invariably feel like tests."
Iryela grabs her stomach and drawls, 'Please, is there any food in this White Tower? Are we allowed to eat here?'
Aleera nods quickly, "Oh my, yes. I am frankly, a bit hungry myself. Let me show you to the
kitchens."
Aleera leads Iryela back down the stairs.
The room becomes brighter as Aleera creates a ball of light above her hand.
The Pantry
The room has somehow been made to be as cool as a springhouse in order to
keep the food fresh. Sacks of different varieties of flour and seasonings
are stacked against one of the walls. A shelf placed against a second wall
holds jars of preserved fruits and cartons of eggs, and barrels of wines
from different countries fill the rest of the room. A thick wooden door
with a small barred window lies on the east wall, overlooking a graveled
stretch of the garden, allowing supplies to be brought in with ease.
A sign hangs next to the oven.

A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
An oven stands here, radiating a dry heat.
Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
Aleera gestures to a sign, which the Tower uses to indicate what is in stock versus what is not. She shares with Iryela, "We are always welcome to come down here and prepare anything that we might need."
Aleera opens the pantry and prepares the ingredients for a dinner.
Aleera begins preparing the dish.
The smell of cookery fills the area.
Aleera finishes making the dish.
Iryela drawls, 'Any time? You....are not locked in your rooms?'
Aleera sets about, with a light clatter, preparing a couple of plates. She shakes her head in
response, "No, you will not be locked in your room. You are free to leave whenever you wish. As
Aelrena Sedai noted, there is a restriction, but less severe than that. You are free to go wherever
you want as long as you remain on this island."
Aleera gives Ilyera a plate of kippered eel.
Aleera prepares a steaming cup of tea.
Aleera notifies a servant, who retrieves a variety of goods from the dry larder and restocks the
pantry.
Iryela wolfs down the plate of eel.
Aleera gives Iryela a cup of mint and cloudberry tea.
Aleera drinks hot, bitter tea from a cup of honeyed tea.
Aleera eats a plate of vegetables in tangy sauce.
Aleera shares, "If you prefer water to tea or other drinks, let me show you to a fresh supply."
Iryela thanks Aleera.
Aleera leaves west.
Iryela follows someone.
The Kitchens
The smells of food fills this large, high ceilinged room, the scent of
meats mingling with those of fruits and vegetables. A long stone fireplace
with spits lies in the center of the eastern wall, the roasting spits being
turned by spit dogs running in their wicker baskets. Iron stoves and ovens
have been placed along other walls. Three large pairs of doors flank the
kitchen and a glimpse reveals they are large dining halls. Gray tiles cover
the floor and a large sink occupies a corner of the room.
[ obvious exits: E W ]
Zone: White Tower Ground Floor
A giant sink sits here, filled with many dirty dishes.
Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
An Accepted stands here, ready to fulfill any Aes Sedai request.
Laras the Mistress of the Kitchens is here directing the kitchen workers.
Iryela drawls, 'The tea is fine. Thank you.'
Aleera shares, "Our Mistress of Kitchens is also always in need of help with the dishes. Novices are expected to help some each day." She admits, "I still help some too."
Iryela eyes the large sink with some disgust.
Aleera says 'Mistress Laras, Iryela is a new novice in the Tower.'
A novice comes in carrying a stack of dirty dishes, places them in the sink, and runs out for more.
Aleera moves on then after watching a novice bring a fresh stack of dishes in, commenting, "It never ends."
Now well-fed and hydrated, the two women continue their tour of the White Tower.
The Warders' Practice Yard
A large expanse of bare ground at least fifty paces across and nearly twice
as long stretches forth, its earth beaten hard. At intervals around it
under the trees stand wooden stands holding quarterstaffs and practice
swords made of strips of wood bound loosely together, and a few real swords
and axes and spears. A large gray stone building lies to the east, home to
the warder students and those warders who are not sharing quarters with
their Aes Sedai in the main Tower structure itself.
A sign hangs on the wall.

An iron lantern hangs from the wall above the gate.
A weapon rack stands on the ground here, ready to store weapons.
Some elaborate figurines spew fresh water into a broad basin here.

A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A grim storyteller reads from a journal.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
Coulin the Master of Arms is here teaching his students.
A gray haired weaponsmaster stands nearby.
Aleera steps over to the basin after nodding politely to Coulin Gaidin.
Aleera gently fills a leather water flask from a fountain.
Iryela gently fills a water skin from a fountain.
Aleera says 'Sometimes, some cold fresh water is what we might really want and here is an ideal location for it, under the watchful eyes of Coulin Gaidin and his students.'
Iryela looks at the warder students appreciatively.
Iryela drawls, 'I see what you mean.'
Aleera says 'He is also happy to help provide some instruction in arms if such is desired.'
Aleera leads the way around the outer grounds of the Tower.
Underneath the Central Dome
The two hallways meet at a cavernous rotunda which is crowned by an
enormous dome of pale white stone. Stone ribs reach out from the top of
wall at the four corners of the intersection, meeting to form a circle
which serves as the foundation of the dome. To the east and west lie long
straight halls with many doors. A large room with open doors lies to the
north, while a hallway leads south, towards two massive double doors.

Aleera the Journey Accepted is standing here.
Aleera gestures to either end of the long hallway here. "Welcome to the White Tower's library. This too, you will have access to; it is open at all hours and someone is always within."
Iryela looks around the library, eyes wide.
Aleera walks up and down either of the long halls, briefly sharing the organization of the
depositories. "I am still a bit overwhelmed every time I set foot in here," she shares.
Aleera leads the way back out of the library, her pace is slow and steady, comfortable and happy in the moment.
Flagstone Yard Outside the Barracks
A wide, flagstoned yard lies before a gray stone building that looks like a
huge boulder which houses the Tower Guard. In the yard, rimmed holes in the
flagstones allow trees to grow, providing shade from the sun. A thick wood
of oak and evergreens encloses the yard on three sides, with twisting
graveled paths running through towards other parts of the Tower grounds.

A Tower Guard watches for signs of trouble.
Jimar Chubain, instructor of the Tower Guard.
Aleera gestures towards Jimar Chubain and shares with Iryela, "The instructor for our Guard. Similar to Coulin Gaidin, he can also provide instruction in assorted mundane skills that may also be of use, and is always ready to serve the members of the White Tower."
Aleera leads the way back into the heart of the Tower. She pauses there with Iryela, allowing the
bustle of staff and others to flow about them. "It can be overwhelming. It was for me," she begins, "Do you have any questions I might help you with? If not, that is okay, you are always welcome to ask later."
Iryela drawls, 'I think I understand, thank you.'
Aleera is contemplative for a moment, and presses a hand to her chest. She tells Iryela, "I am
sorry, too, I forgot to introduce myself earlier. You may call me Aleera. And, I do mean it, if you
ever have a question, or just want to talk about anything, I am happy to do so."
Iryela nods, the barest hint of a smile reaching her lips.
Iryela drawls, 'I am Iryela.'
Aleera says, "I'm pleased to meet you, Iryela. I hope in time, you'll find comfort and feel welcome
in these halls."
Iryela nods solemnly.
Aleera looks at Iryela.
Iryela drawls, 'Thank you. I am quite tired though. Am I allowed to go to bed?'
Aleera nods, "Certainly. Rest well."
Iryela waves goodbye to Aleera.

A weapon rack stands on the ground here, ready to store weapons.
Some elaborate figurines spew fresh water into a broad basin here.

A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
