Vianca speaks with Aleera about Refresh

Post by vianca » Sat Oct 14, 2023 1:18 am

Vianca explains to Aleera the Refresh weave and has a hands-on time trial for practice.

Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.
A large banner rests here, depicting a map of Tar Valon.

A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
A Tower Guard watches for signs of trouble.
An astonishingly tall and broad man stands here, with large tufted ears.

The River Lady has arrived at the docks.

Vistra has arrived from the north.

Vistra says 'Hello Accepted.'

Aleera has arrived from the west, riding a gray palfrey.

Vianca says 'Hello Novice'

Vistra curtseys before Aleera.

Vianca smiles at her.

Vistra says 'hello accepted Aleera'

Vianca says 'Aleera, has anyone taken the time t go over the how to restore stamina to others as Tolza Sedai mentioned the other day?'

A gray palfrey swishes the flies off its back with its tail.

Aleera stops riding a gray palfrey.

Aleera gets off of her horse, decidedly battered and bruised. She gives a quick shake of her head, "No, Accepted Vianca. I may have puzzled it out, but would certainly appreciate appropriate guidance."

The gleeman has arrived from the west.

Vianca says 'What happened to your belongings?'

Aleera wears a bright red robe about her body.

Aleera stops using a bright red robe.

A Tower Guard has arrived from the south.

Aleera wears a dress with colored bands at the hem about her body.

Vianca says 'Ah, much better.'

Aleera shares, "I just recovered them. There was a blow from behind and then ... nothing."

Vianca says 'Vistra, I would love to include you on this lesson but we will be outside of your permitted travel guidelines.'

Vistra says 'it is ok. I saw the sink feeling up earlier. I need to get in there before Laras sends me to Sheriam.'

Vistra blushes.

Vianca nods at her.

Vistra waves.

The sun casts a golden glow over the city.

Vistra curtseys gracefully.

Vianca nods in agreement.

Vistra opens the TarlomensGate.

Vistra leaves north. ^^

The day has begun.

Vianca looks over towards a now clothed Aleera, 'Let us grab some warhorses and I'll give you the rundown on how to perk up even the most tired or mares.

Vianca claps a tall white horse on the shoulder, ' Ride Kervin, he's one of my best'

Aleera says 'He looks to be a fine steed.'

Aleera starts riding a warhorse.

Vianca starts riding him.

Vianca says 'Follow me, let's get this started.'

A warhorse lays its ears flat against its neck.

Aleera starts following Vianca.

Aleera nods in agreement.

Standing on a pike in the square is the head of Benjen.

Vianca says 'As there are some trollocs on the lurk up north, we're gonna take this a bit south to be
safe. The cooler weather will be good for the horses as we are going to run them a bit.'

Vianca claps a warhorse on the back.

Aleera is getting some color back now, but she says, "That seems wise. I will follow your lead."

Vianca says 'Im sure you know your way to Caemlyn, yes?'

Aleera says 'I traveled from there on my way to the White Tower and just recently the Red Ajah sent me down to Far Madding, so I passed it then as well.'

Vianca says 'I pretty direct route, however it cannot be made in less that an hour without giving your horse a breather.'

Aleera says 'Yes, I feel for them when they're pushed so.'

.
Vianca says 'This is where you can weave together the flows or air, water and spirit to enable to allow your target to find it in themselves to regain almost all of their energy.'

Vianca says 'And with your travel restrictions recently lifted a tad, its a great way to make up some ground while exploring.'

Vianca says 'One would say you could make it back to where you grew up, north of Amador if I'm not mistaken in only a matter of a few hours rather than days.'

Aleera nods, listening. She admits, "I have enjoyed a long ride since that day."

Aleera says 'Yes, that is where I grew up.'

Vianca nods at her.

Vianca says 'Than you know that ride well.'

Vianca says 'Ok, so In order for the weave to work, whom ever needs the effects must be following either the caster or the leader of the group.'

Vianca says 'That being said, since it’s just me and you, I would be the only one leading the horses and running the weave.'

Aleera ahs and nods. She says, "I think I was attempting it the other day, but I was doing the following."

Vianca says 'ok we are coming up on the 8th hour, when the mounts run haggard, dismount yours asap'

Aleera nods in agreement.

Vianca says 'Got it? We’re gonna try to set a speed record! '

Vianca winks suggestively at Aleera.

Bridge Over the Alindrelle
The river rolls, strong and steady, fifty or more paces below, and for all
its half mile length the bridge flows unsupported from riverbank to island.
The bridge has room and some to spare for ten men to walk abreast. A tall,
bronze-clad gate stands between the bridge and Tar Valon to the east. A
large sign lists the local laws and customs.

Striking, the bridge is an architectural wonder. The openwork walls look
intricate enough to tax the best craftswoman at her lace-frame. It hardly
seems that such could have been done with stone, or that it could stand
even its own weight.

Road through the Light Woods
The air is filled with the fresh, revitalizing scent of this green forest.

Vianca explains, ‘The weave has the power to restore a horse or another person from completely haggard to almost full rejuvenated.

Aleera pats the side of the horse's neck.

Vianca says 'Have you taken the time to learn this weave?'

Aleera says 'I have, yes.'

Vianca says 'Great, I have learned about 87% of the weave myself and I've found that is plenty to not fail.'

Aleera asks, "If it were just me and a horse, how close would we need to be?"
refreshing, you up for it?

Vianca says ‘For just yourself, your going to dismount, grab the reins and lead your mount, then cast the weave, they do not have to be “grouped”, just following.

Vianca says 'What were gonna do then, is a quick trek back to Tar Valon, but you are going to do the refreshing, you up for it?'

Aleera shares, "I have learned a bit over 70%, myself, so still have some work to do."

Aleera nods.

Vianca says 'Yeah you gonna wanna get those number up just a tad more to be safe. This is a great tool to make up ground fleeing from or chasing an enemy, you want it to work when you need it most.'

Vianca says 'Let me know when your ready to run!'

Vianca readies both horses, tightening their saddles.

Aleera says 'Okay, I think I am ready.'

to its bank. Southwards, as well as to your east, the road to Tar Valon

In the Wide Hallway
Walls of stonework the color of bleached bone contrast sharply with the
floors of brightly colored tiles in all seven colors of the Ajahs. Golden
stand lamps are spaced evenly along the corridor, spreading pools of warm,
flickering light both day and night. Niches containing statuettes or
expensive Sea Folk vases break the monotony of the white walls.

Wide Hallway off the Stairwell
This marble-clad landing lies just off a marble lined narrow stairwell. Lit
by gilded stand lamps, a seven-colored runner cushions footfalls in this
oft traversed area. An portrait of a woman holding a pair of scales in the
one hand and a small image of the White Tower in the other hangs on the
northern wall, depicting Edarna Noregovna.

In the Wide Hallway
White marble interspersed with thin gray veins lines the walls of this wide
corridor. The floor has been laid in a repeating pattern of brightly
colored tiles in seven colors, representing all the Ajahs. The hallway runs
for some distance away from the center ramp, reaching all the way to the
outer wall of the White Tower's shaft, before terminating at ornately
carved double doors which offer entry to the Hall of the Tower.

Branching Off the Ramp
The spiralling ramp levels out for a stretch where corridors from the west
and south meet. The colorful patterns of the floortiles of both the
corridors and the ramp merge seamlessly, speaking of the quality of the
Ogier stonemasons' work. The arched ceiling is at least fifteen feet high
and a masterfully carved frieze of leaves of bonsai, cedar, holly, juniper,
oak, olive and redwood runs along thetop of the impost, just below the
lowest part of the curvature of the arch.

In the Hallway
This gray stone hallway is plain looking, although its floor tiles of red
and green liven up the area. Two tapestries of flowered trees and
stout-beaked birds hang on the wall, so colorful they seem unlikely to be
real. An unmarked wooden door lies between the tapestries.

A roster hangs here.

Above the Stairwell
The gray stone floor of the hallway with red, green, gray and blue floor
tiles gives way to a narrow stairwell. A six-sided hanging lantern hanging
from the stairs' ceiling casts a flickering light on the steps, preventing
the area of being shrouded in darkness. A portrait of a woman wearing a
seven-striped stole hangs on the gray stone wall opposite the stairs.

In the Plain Hallway
A pointed archway containing an ironbound wooden door leads to the west,
into the wing that extends westwards from the shaft of the White Tower.
That part of the wing contains one of the two wells used to house Accepted
that is still in use today. Glossy gray and blue floor tiles brighten up
the plain gray stone floor that is used in this area.

In the Well
This open-roofed building used to house the initiates of the Tower consists
of nine levels, but only three of them are currently in use. A number of
small, windowless rooms open up to a gallery which surrounds a courtyard,
there is ample fresh air. A fountain with a small garden sits at the bottom
of this well, the sound of falling waters echoing among the towering walls.

Vianca says 'Very good, a few more days training on the weave and you will be good.'

Aleera looks down for a moment and then shares, "And your point was aptly made there as the weave didn't pull together right for me that first time."

Vianca says 'Now, can you tell me why we ran all the way here, instead of just town square?'

Aleera suggests, "My assumption is due to Child Patter being about."

Vianca says 'very good, when the horses gave out and we dismounted, Patter was in fact closing in on us.'

Vianca says 'Way to keep your head on a swivel, and without that refresh if we had just been waiting forthe horses, something terrible could have happened.'

Aleera admits with a nod, "Quite."

Vianca says 'A perfect example of the importance of those elements, and the use of them.'

Vianca says 'And now that we are behind the safety of this door I'll explain to you how you can do what we just did, with a while group of horses.'

Aleera nods, saying, "Please."

Vianca says 'I mentioned earlier that in order for the weave to effect someone they must be following either the caster or the leader of the group that said caster is in.'

Aleera nods in agreement.

Vianca say ‘For instance’

Vianca says 'If You and me are traveling back south with two others, and he all go haggard just like our horses did in the trials we just ran. You are not going to be able to hold onto 4 reins while focusing on your casting.'

Vianca says 'So, how do you think you would have to go about perking up all the horses at once?'

Vianca looks over at Aleera, tapping her chin.

Aleera asks, "Does the caster lead a pair and the leader lead the other pair?"

Vianca smiles with delight, 'Excellent, everyone will dismount and you and the group leader will share the responsibility of leading the horses while you perk them up.

A chicken has arrived from the west.

Aleera beams a smile for Vianca. She then asks, "Is there an accepted practice for who leads which horses?"

Vianca says 'I would't say there are any rules but I myself would tell the leader of the group 'Hey you lead the first two and Ill lead the second', just to keep everyone on the same page i order to keep the process fast. Your more vulnerable dismounted and even more vulnerable while dismounted and weaving, the last thing you want if to have haggard horses AND get chased away from them on foot. So having all your ducks or horses I should say in a row is important.'

Aleera gives several bobs of her head, "I can imagine. Communication in advance is important, especially in dangerous territory.

Vianca says 'The two main drawbacks are that you cannot cast the weave upon yourself, and you cannot focus enough to cast the weave while engaged in a battle.'

[channel 'refresh']
Vianca begins to weave the appropriate flows...

Vianca channel flows of Spirit, and refresh those around you.

Vianca now follows Aleera.
Aleera holds you, and you perk up as the fatigue washes away.

Vianca says 'Perfect, What a boost! Better than the strongest Kaf brew.'

Aleera says 'Worked that time.'

.

Vianca says 'Now, just to clarify, I just have to be following you, I don’t have to be grouped.'

Aleera nods, "Quite. My shoulders felt immensely loosened and refreshed after your weave. I didn't realize the tension I was holding."

Aleera nods.

Vianca says 'I really loosens up the joints too, its wonderful'

Vianca says 'Have you learned any location weaves yet?'

Aleera says, "I have learned both, not to full mastery. I was struggling with the life weave and
specific individuals. (OOC: Do you need to put in their full name as it shows in WHO?)

.
Vianca says 'It might be wise to explore the ability to locate a specific person with all there so called Childre of the Light around.'

Vianca nods at her.

Vianca says 'Yes, for instance, would you try to see if Patter is close by'

Vianca senses Aleera is channeling saidar.

Vianca says 'Using his whole first name as it reads.'

Aleera says, "I couldn't find him nearby, but may not have sufficient skill to sense him if he has moved away a bit."

Vianca says 'Now, there are places you can hide and pieces of jewelry one can wear to hide ones self from such weaves. So always keep your eyes peeled. '

Aleera nods in agreement.

(
Vianca says 'We can go grab our horses and stable them so they don't get lost'

Vianca says 'I hope you take some time to familiarize yourself with what we spoke about, I'll will prove to be of great value, I can assure you.'

Aleera says 'Thank you for your instruction tonight. It was very helpful.'

Vianca says 'Be safe, Accepted may the light shine on you always.'

Vianca smiles at Aleera and they go about their day.

I like how this was a practical lesson but included in-character immersive discussion. In future logs with similar movement, I would recommend removing the actual movement and room descriptions, and simply describing that in an abbreviated way. Otherwise, thank you for sharing.

Please say "receive" at a silver-haired Aes Sedai for your rewards.
