Some just insist on flying before they walk

Callesa Sedai checks on novice Faoleha's progress and finds out she's been learning to Travel without being prepared for some of the consequences, and teaches her to Create Water. Novice Faoleha shows to be a quick student, with a curious tendency to do complicated things before the simple ones.

Callesa gestures at the door with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Faoleha curtseys before Danelle Sedai.

Callesa says 'Well, the reports show that you are surely pulling your weight in the chores'

Faoleha says 'I do my best,'

Callesa says'But tell me, what weaves have you been studying, since you were found ready for advancement
to Wearied?'

Callesa says 'You should be well beyond the Rosebud exercise by now.'

Callesa smile at Faoleha.

Faoleha nods in agreement.

Faoleha says 'I learned a fair bit about the locate weave'

Callesa says 'Which one?'

Faoleha says 'and how to safely travel to things that you find with it'

Faoleha says 'locating the life force of living things'

Callesa says 'Well, an unusual choice for a novice, given your restriction of movement.'

Faoleha says 'Tolza sedai has said that as long as I am careful, it's very safe to use.'

Callesa nod at Faoleha.

Faoleha says 'and it's a handy way to get around to the gatekeepers of all of the gates,'

Callesa says 'Yes, my Sister is a rather adventurous teacher.'

Faoleha says 'including the ones that don't have readilly accessible ladders.'

Callesa says'Well, is there something wrong with your feet, girl? For now, gatekeepers in your world are
all well within walking distance.'

Callesa ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Faoleha says 'well...Tolza sedai's task involved getting to one that you couldn't walk to'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa smiles at her.

Faoleha says 'which makes it a very safe area when shadow spawn chase people into the city!'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'Well, and has she taught you about travelling accidents, commonly known as "Misport"?'

Callesa peers closely at Faoleha, trying to figure her out.

Faoleha says 'I've heard about them, and have been cautioned with them.'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'So, let's assume it happens to you. After all, it is only a matter of time, before it does.'

Faoleha says 'always make double sure that the locate code is good, and make sure to practice the
travel weave as much as can be learned to be safe!'

Faoleha nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'In spite of all the precautions, it happens. And usually, it comes at a bad time and leads
to an unsafe area. Such as the Blight.'

Faoleha says 'and also, to make sure that you are calm. if you have been in combat recently, that
extra stress can cause mistakes as well'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Faoleha says 'I've heard about that, yea.'

Callesa says 'Imagine you've just ended in the Blight. What do you do?'

Faoleha says 'uh, panic.'

Faoleha says 'and then try to work my way down south,'

Callesa smiles slightly as she says "wrong answer, panic will get you killed"

Faoleha nods.

Callesa says 'And are you sure that you are in an area, that actually has an opening to the south that
will lead you home?'

Faoleha thinks hard.

Callesa says 'Your first priority is not getting killed.'

Faoleha says 'well, I grew up in arafel, the blight was on the other side of the mountain range'

Callesa nods at her.

Faoleha says 'so, if I head to the mountain range, and cross it toward the south, I should be able
to get out.'

Callesa says 'Good. Then if you keep your wits and take a moment to recognize your surroundings, your
chances are growing.'

Callesa says 'How do you make sure, or at least surer, that you'll get there?'

Faoleha says 'the sun makes a great compass to get my bearings'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'And also a great danger to you.'

Faoleha says 'and, I can locate life around me, and see what danger is in the immediate area.'

Callesa says 'The climate in the Blight is very hostile, you get parched easily, and safe water sources
are scarce.'

Callesa nods at her.

Callesa says 'Yes, and as you have no horse, you should profit from moments of relative safety, to rest
up a bit.'

Faoleha says 'If I don't run myself haggard, I have a good chance of escaping. Need to stay calm,
and make sure to rest along the way in relatively safe areas.'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'And also keep drinking and eating. Do you always carry some extra supplies for such
moments?'

Faoleha says 'there are a number of wild horses that roam the plans east of maradon, once I get
south that far I should be safe'

Faoleha nods in agreement.

Faoleha says 'I try to keep a day or so's worth on me'

Callesa says 'Perfect rations.'

Callesa says 'And have you learnt the "create water" and "create food" weaves?'

Callesa says 'Their products don't taste quite right, but can keep you alive. Should you progress far
enough in your studies, you'll be expected to know them.'

Faoleha says 'well...the practicing for the travel weave was quite strict, I had to pass on that one
for the moment.'

Callesa laughs quietly.

Faoleha says 'though, I am handy with a knife, if I can find a deer or a bear, I should be able to
get some food'

Callesa says 'I see. So eager to learn the advanced weaves, that you skipped some of the simple ones.'

Callesa says 'Oh, even the deers in the Blight may surprise you.'

Callesa says 'The key is staying alive until you either find your way to the south, or you Travel to
safety again.'

Callesa says 'The tool that got you in danger in the first place, can also get you out.'

Callesa says 'Now, let's do a small exercise on Create Water.'

Faoleha says 'I've run into a few...they can kick like a stag from the maradon forest! they
sometimes wander down south. It's been happening a lot more in recent years though, as well as other... things.'

Callesa nods at her.

Callesa says 'Strange fruit never kicks and Saidar created water is never poisoned.'

Callesa takes a cup from the table.

Callesa feels the flows of saidar coursing through your body.

Callesa channels a single solid thread of Water in the cup, which fills with clear liquid.

Callesa says 'Just one strand of Water is enough. You can only fill a container that you hold in your
hands though.'

Callesa drinks the water in one long sip.

Callesa gives you the teacup

Callesa says 'Now you try'

Callesa senses Faoleha connecting to the True Source.

Faoleha says 'it's been a little bit...'

Faoleha concentrates hard.

Faoleha weaves a small spike of ice in her hands.

Faoleha puts the tip of the spike over a tea cup, as water drips into the cup.

Callesa smiles slightly.

Callesa says 'True, I didn't say you had to conjure liquid water out of thin air.'

Faoleha shakes the spike slightly, a small spout of water slowly filles the cup.

Faoleha says 'err...is there another way?'

Faoleha loses focus, dropping the spike that shatters into nothingness.

Callesa says 'The one I just showed you. It's not always necessary to search for a comlicated solution,
when a simple one is at hand.'

Faoleha says 'uh, it's about 2/3s full... is that enough?'

Faoleha thinks hard.

Faoleha says 'freezing water seems to come more natural to me, somehow.'

Callesa says 'Now channel a strand of Water, make a simple yet solid pattern, like I just showed you, and
fill the rest.'

Callesa smiles at Faoleha.

Faoleha thinks hard.

Faoleha sets a tea cup on the table, and holds both hands over the cup.

Faoleha concentrates hard.

Faoleha weaves a feeble stand of water, pouring a small stream into the cup.

Callesa says 'Excellent!'

Faoleha fills the cup full, and water starts spilling over the side of the cup and drips from the
table to the floor.

Callesa feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Faoleha takes a deep breath.

Faoleha says 'ah, a little much I think there.'

Callesa quickly channels thin strands of Fire and Air together, and the small pool of
water starts evaporating

Callesa nods in agreement.

Faoleha says 'ah, thank you!'

Callesa says 'Excellent work, Novice. As you see, there is some work to be done even at the simple Weaves
, before you jump to the most complicated ones.'

Faoleha nods.

Callesa says 'But keep curious, child, that's a must.'

Faoleha nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'Unless you have any questions, I won't keep you any longer. I'm sure Laras has some more
chores for you.'

Faoleha says 'ah, yes, I don't want to keep Eliyana Sedai waiting too much longer.'

Faoleha curtseys gracefully.

Callesa nods in agreement.

Faoleha says 'thank you for you time, Callesa Sedai!'

The door smoothly swings open.
