In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east

An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
Eglantine of Altara is standing here.
The Tar Valon town crier stands here, spreading the news.

Eglantine says 'I am yes, I was told to look for an Aes Sedai. I have never met one before'

Chloro smiles warmly to the girl "Good evening child. I am Chloro Sedai, who may I ask told you to seek us?"

Eglantine gasps in astonishment.

Eglantine says 'oh I am sorry; I did not know you were Aes Sedai. Please excuse me.'

Eglantine pulls herself up and curtseys as best she can

Eglantine says 'good evening Chloro Sedai'

Chloro waves her had dismissively "Think nothing of it, not all who come to us know what to look for. Please do answer the question."

Eglantine says 'I was talking to Accepted Nymyrya before'

Eglantine says 'I had heard from someone in a tavern after I had told what had happened to me to, to come here for help'

Chloro says 'Ah yes, she was right to send you to us. If you have time now, I can complete the test.'

Eglantine says 'that would be wonderful if you can, yes please. I do not want to accidentally hurt someone if it happened again, and Nymyrya said I could be taught here if I had the aptitude, to control myself'

Eglantine says 'and use it for good '

Eglantine says 'though I am nervous about what may lay ahead'

Eglantine blushes a little

Chloro says 'You will be taught aptitude or not. Follow me please.'

Eglantine says 'I have only learnt to fight with my staff'

Eglantine starts following you.

Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.
Eglantine has arrived from the east.

Eglantine stares in wonder at the inside of the Tower

Eglantine says 'this is so much bigger than it looks'

Chloro gestures to the table, "Please child have a seat and tell me what occurrence brought you to us."

Eglantine realizes she is rambling and focuses back on the task at hand

Chloro gestures at the doors with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Eglantine sits down.

Eglantine's face taken on a pale tone

Chloro moves to a desk picking up a white leather folder before taking a high-backed chair across from the girl listening.

Eglantine says 'I had been training myself on the trees and beasts just outside your Town'

Eglantine says 'and had come inside for a rest and recover, when I heard the guards shouting about some mad man in the Town'

Eglantine shakes a little

Eglantine says 'I was riding through the street when all I can describe is a gust of wind lifted me off my horse and flew me some streets over from where i had been'

Eglantine's eyes begin to glisten

Eglantine says 'My father had saved for months to buy me the horse so I could not lose it'

Chloro nods listening her face calm and emotionless as she takes in the girl’s physical reactions reading them as much as she listens to the words.

Eglantine says 'I went in search of him and, turning the corner ran into the man the guards were fighting'

Eglantine says 'Nymyrya said he was known and called Dougan or something, I don't know'

Eglantine is sweating a little at the memory of what was to come

Chloro looks on, her face unchanged though her knuckles tensed slightly at the channelers name.

Eglantine says 'he blew the guards away with the wind and turned to me'

Eglantine says 'his eyes boring into me... I still have nightmares'

Eglantine takes a shuddering deep breath

Eglantine says 'and then it happened....'

Eglantine says 'i remember i was terrified'

Eglantine says 'I though i was going to die. Please understand I do not exaggerate this, I truly feared for my life'

Eglantine bursts into tears.

Eglantine says 'in that split second I felt my hand turn an icy cold'

Eglantine says 'I have a vague recollection of screaming something like Go Away'

Eglantine says 'then it happened'

Eglantine says 'shards of ice flew from my hands'

Eglantine shudders

Eglantine says 'straight at him'

Chloro speaks in a calm and even tone "Dougan Revere is his name, few face him and live to tell the tale. Fewer still channel against him and are able to walk away. Consider yourself touched by the light for that occasion Eglantine."

Eglantine says 'I thought I was dead, then i remember a flash of light and he disappeared'

Eglantine looks downcast

Eglantine says 'I took myself to a Tavern for days as I thought I would hurt someone because I did not know what happened'

Eglantine looks up at Chloro

Eglantine says 'Really? touched by the Light? I thought I was cursed by the dark'

Eglantine blushes a little

Eglantine says 'I had too much wine one night in an attempt to sleep'

Eglantine says 'and said what happened to me. the people in the Tavern gasped and told me to seek help here, in the White Tower'

Chloro looks to the child and allows a small smile to part her lips. "There is no need to hide any longer child. The Dark one does not claim hold over Saidar, the female half of the one power, and creator willing one day his taint will be stripped from the male half. You are not cursed child but born with a gift."

Eglantine's trembles abate a little

Eglantine says 'a gift? truly'

Eglantine breathes a little lighter

Eglantine says 'I just do not want to hurt someone by accident'

Chloro says 'Indeed, a gift that will require patience and proper training to fully use.'

Eglantine says 'I am not afraid of hard work, I have been honing my skills with my staff for months now, every day'

Chloro says 'You are now among your peers, however before proceed with some paperwork, let us confirm what the towns people believed to be true.'

Eglantine takes a deep breath, steeling herself

Eglantine nods in agreement.

Eglantine says 'I will try to see if I can get the feeling again'

Eglantine says 'but stop me before it finishes'

Eglantine clambers to her feet.

Chloro pulls a silver scale to the center of the table a tar’valon mark on each of the sides. "I will lead you through an exercise in order to touch the one power to confirm your ability. During this time, you must obey and do only as asked. Is this clear?

Eglantine nods in agreement.

Eglantine says 'It is clear yes.

Chloro says 'Then sit child, touching Saidar can be uncomfortable the first few times.'

Eglantine sits down.

Eglantine lifts her face to Chloro Sedai

Chloro takes a deep measured breath motioning for the child to do the same. "First we begin with breathing. Slow and an even. Deep breath in, deep breath out."

Eglantine takes a deep breath in, shuddering slightly at first as she calms down

Eglantine breathes out

Eglantine breathes in, a little deeper and calmer

Eglantine breathes out

Eglantine takes a deep and steady breath in

Eglantine breathes out

Chloro nods watching the girl observing her posture and body language as much as she does her adherence to what is requested. "Now I want you to focus on the scales, the Silver of it, the smooth polished finish. Let all other thoughts fade until only the scales remain."

Eglantine is amazed at the calm that washes over her

Eglantine turns her eyes to the scales

Eglantine continues to breathe in and out, slowly as she focuses of the silver

Eglantine's eye fix on the silver, pupils narrowing

Chloro says 'Clear your mind, only the scales exist.'

Eglantine barley hear's the instructions as the room around the scales begin to blur

Eglantine's breathing continues to be calm and steady

Chloro says 'Good, continue breathing, feel the light of Saidar in your mind, feel the warmth on the back of your neck as if the sun is glowing.'

Eglantine pictures a light beginning to glow, then fades away

Eglantine takes a steady slow breath in

Chloro says 'Continue until the light is shining.'

Eglantine sees the light returning, and feels the skin on the back of her neck start to prickle

Eglantine's pupils continue to narrow, and she focuses more intently on the silver and her mind is awash with the light

Chloro says 'Now, allow the warm of the light to wash over you, open yourself to the light. '

Chloro takes herself to the brink of embracing watching the girls every movement and listening to her breathing.

Eglantine feels at peace as she continues to breathe, deeper, calmer and allows the warmth to flow down her back.

Eglantine as she surrenders to the light and warmth, a tingle crossed her palms

You sense Eglantine connecting to the True Source.

Chloro says 'Let it flow through you child, good feel the warmth of Saidar around you.'

Eglantine smiles as the feeling extends

Eglantine watches as the light in her mind begins to fade

Chloro says 'Now my dear comes the hard part. Allow the warmth to flow away from you. '

Eglantine with a kind of weariness her shoulders slump a little

Eglantine blinks her eyes innocently.

Eglantine regulates her breathing as a wave of weariness follows

Eglantine says 'oh my'

Chloro nods and looks to the girl a warm motherly smile on her face yet her gray eyes weighing and measuring the child. "It is confirmed you have the ability to channel. How far that ability progresses will be on you."

Eglantine stands and rests her hands on the table as she takes a couple of deep breaths and stand straight.

Eglantine says 'I never had any idea'

Chloro lifts a quill dipping it in ink before scribing the girls name on the white folder before her and setting it to the side to dry. "Do you know the life of our initiates Eglantine?"

Eglantine shakes her head.

Eglantine says 'sorry, I do not'

Eglantine says 'but if that is part of it, it was wonderful, I have not felt the peace in the moment before'

Chloro says 'Until you are deemed no longer a danger to others or yourself you will be a Novice in the white tower. It is a back breaking station but one that will help shape you into a woman capable of channeling at will. '

Eglantine draws her mind fully back into the room to take in every word

Eglantine nods in agreement.

Eglantine says 'that is what I want, I do not want to hurt someone by accident'

Chloro says 'Once your name is struck in the Novice books you belong to the White Tower. You will live within the Tower and while you are a novice you may not leave the island.'

Eglantine says 'and the physical side of things I am not afraid of, I have toiled long on my fighting skills and my parent’s workshop'

Eglantine nods in agreement.

Eglantine says 'I have no home to leave for anymore, I understand'

Chloro chuckles. "I pinned you for the child of a tradesmen, I myself was the daughter of a blacksmith a long time ago."

Eglantine nods in agreement.

Eglantine smiles happily.

Eglantine says 'a cooper used to be their task, I have the affinity for wood and shaping it'

Eglantine strokes her staff, remembering the work she did to make it

Chloro rises gracefully her gray shawl crooked in the bends of her arms swaying low over her waist. "Come then we shall see to the dull administrative side." Chloro makes for the door listening for the girls’ steps behind her.

Eglantine clambers to her feet.

Eglantine says 'always paperwork'

Eglantine chuckles politely.
