A motto and a hunting license

Post by Isela » Sun Sep 04, 2022 10:47 pm

Summary: Accepted Isela asks Reyne Sedai about the Blue Ajah's mission and, in particular, how they interpret a rule in the Handbook.

Point of View: Isela
Main Characters: Isela, Reyne

----------------------------------------------------------

Tower Square
This side of the square is the southern section of the Tower Square.
In the center is the walled off White Tower. To the south a large
boulevard opens up leading to the Southharbor. To the north you see
the southern gate of the Tower grounds. The square continues east
and west.
A large banner rests here, depicting a map of Tar Valon.
[ obvious exits: N E S W ]
A marble bench, flecked with gold and bronze, adorns the floor.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
An elaborately sculpted marble fountain splashes merrily.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
Sarn of Illian is standing here.
A Tairen bloodstock stallion stands here, tail swaying with the breeze, being ridden by Isela.
Reyne of Murandy is standing here.
A gray palfrey prances skittishly nearby.
The Tar Valon town crier stands here, spreading the news.

Isela says 'Do you have time for a quick lesson on the Blue, Reyne Sedai?'

Reyne says 'I suppose I do. What do you know of the Blue Ajah?'

Reyne sits down on a bench.

Isela says 'I know the Blue focus on causes and justice, but sometimes I find it hard to pin down what
that means in a practical setting.'

Isela says 'For example, it makes sense that the Blue would be great ambassadors, yet most Grays end up
in that role.'

Reyne smiles faintly. 'It is a vague notion. The Blue Ajah are tasked with administration of
warrants and pardons, of course. However I find that thinking about our Ajah in terms of its motto
is more helpful.'

Reyne says 'To do whatever must be done.'

Isela nods thoughtfully.

Isela says 'It seems that the Blue offer the most freedom to interpret what that means depending on
you are and what you're currently doing to be a servant to all.'

Reyne says 'I would say that is an accurate sentiment.'

Reyne says 'It also means that we must be very demanding of those who would be Blue Ajah.'

Isela says 'Very likely indeed. It seems to me that discernment would be a great trait in a Blue.'

Reyne nods at Isela.

Isela says 'I do have a particular question about wanted persons by the Tower, since you brought that
up, Reyne Sedai. I'd very much like your input on the topic of hunting wanteds, and in particular,
Darkfriends.'

Reyne says 'Go ahead.'

Isela says 'I know we must be in the company of a full Aes Sedai when hunting wanteds.'

Isela says 'However, Sarinda Sedai has recently encouraged me to hunt Cera, a runaway and known
darkfriend.'

Isela says 'When I brought this limitation to her attention, she was unclear on whether a darkfriend
would be akin to Shadowspawn and more than just a wanted.'

The sun sets, washing the city in fiery colors.

Isela says 'How would the Blue Ajah interpret this rule from the Handbook?'

The night has begun.

The TarlomensGate closes quietly.

Reyne says 'That is a good question, and I am glad you pointed it out to Sarinda Sedai. We have
traditionally interpreted that to mean criminals. Darkfriends would fall more under the darkspawn
category.'

Reyne ponders life, the universe, and everything.

Isela strokes her chin thoughtfully.

Isela says 'So I am free to hunt her on my own?'

Reyne says 'You are free to hunt her on your own.'

Isela says 'Thank you for the clarification, Reyne Sedai'

Reyne says 'I will confirm with my fellow Blues but you may direct anyone to me if they give you
trouble.'

Isela nods in agreement.

Reyne clambers to her feet.

Isela says 'Thank you for your time in answering my questions Reyne Sedai. You've greatly helped me
clarify the Blue's mission. Doing what must be done must be a great and worthwhile challenge.'

Reyne says 'Usually as much of a challenge as figuring out what that is in the first place.'

Reyne smiles. 'Be careful in your hunting, Accepted. Goodnight.'

Isela nods in agreement.

Isela curtseys before Reyne.

Reyne calls for the TarlomensGate to be opened.
The TarlomensGate is opened from the other side.

Reyne leaves north.
