A quick chat about dishes

Post by Isela » Thu Sep 01, 2022 1:36 pm

Summary: Accepted Isela bumps into Naji Sedai in the halls of the White Tower to ask about recent strange happenings.

Point of View: Isela
Main Characters: Isela, Naji
Participant: unnamed novice who left without curtseying

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Naji has arrived from below.

Isela curtseys before Naji Sedai.

Naji nods in agreement.

In the Corridor
Floor tiles in various hues of red meet and mingle with their gray
counterparts in this corridor with adjacent stairwell. While the stairwell
is lit by hanging lanterns, gilded stand lamps illuminate the corridor. A
portrait of a woman holding an olive branch in the one hand and a dove in
the other decorates the wall opposite the stairwell.

Lady Naji Iris Shal'nara is standing here.
A young girl in a plain white dress stands here.

Naji says 'what did you wish to ask, Accepted?'

A novice leaves south.

Isela says 'I've been noticing some strange happenings around me and I was wondering if you could tell
me what you know about ta'veren, Naji Sedai.'

Naji says 'Strange events would make sense Accepted, little definitive is known, but they do appear
to tug at the threads of the pattern around them, resulting some...strange occurrences.'

Isela nods thoughtfully.

Naji says 'a gift and a curse of the pattern, to be sure.'

Isela says 'I was passing by the kitchens earlier and one of the novices dropped a stack of dishes, but
none of them broke.'

Isela says 'Mistress Laras was astounded.'

Naji says 'Aye, it is speculated that the tugging on the pattern can make for extremely odd chance
occurrences, like a man falling from a great height, only to land safely on his feet.'

Naji says 'if only we knew how to harness such high strangeness.'

Naji smiles slightly.

Isela strokes her chin thoughtfully.

Naji says 'but alas it appears a thing of the fates, well beyond our control.'

Isela says 'I wonder if there are any books on the subject you might recommend?'

Naji says 'You could certainly have a look in the library, I would personally start by looking at
accounts of historical Ta'veren like Artur Hawkwing, to see what you might be able to glean of such
things in action.'

Isela says 'Thank you Naji Sedai, I'll start there.'

Naji nods in agreement.

Naji says 'light and luck be with you Accepted,'

Naji leaves north.

Gesin glides aimlessly towards Isela and gently places a book on the table in front of the Accepted.

Gesin nudges it along the table, a little closer to Isela.

Gesin says 'I will just leave this here.'

Gesin nods to herself and saunters away to perform other Brown-like activities around the Tower.

From the archive of classes that Gesin and Khaliana has compiled for the Brown Compedium:

Accepted Gem (later Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah with a name change to Keisa Sedai) teaches a class on Ta'Varen. Timeframe wise, this was likely taught within a year of when she Shawled, 21 Aug 2005.
