Ethics and a second fiddle

Post by Isela » Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:15 am

Summary: Accepted Isela requests some wisdom from Jenda Sedai on the ethics of healing on the battlefield.

Point of View: Isela
Main Characters: Isela, Jenda

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The carveddoor is opened from the other side.

Solarium of the Yellow Ajah
Tall, arched windows offer a view of the island of Tar Valon and the
confluence of the river Erinin beyond Southharbor, as the river starts on
its journey to Tear. Pots and plants dot the balcony outside the windows.
Chairs have been drawn up near the windows and vases containing bouquets of
of yellow flowers have been placed nearby. Several desks and clusters of
chairs have been distributed around the room, allowing for informal
discussion of Yellow Sisters' research and studies.
[ obvious exits: N ]
Sumptuously upholstered, a gold brocade chaise lounge with gilded legs rests nearby.
A large desk made of fine, thick wood stands across the room from here.
A chair made of red oak rests next to the table. [2]
Jenda Sharaad is resting here on a chaise lounge.
A Yellow Sister glides past.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
Corele Hovian stands here with concern in her eyes.

Isela curtseys before Jenda.

Jenda gestures at the door with her hand.

Jenda smiles at Isela.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Jenda says 'Good day, Accepted. Are you ill? '

Isela drops a curtsey for the remaining Aes Sedai in the room as well.

Isela says 'No, Jenda Sedai, but I do have some questions for the Yellow.'

Isela says 'Thank you for seeing me.'

Jenda says 'Ah. Well then we'll make this quick. The Yellow Ajah's purpose is quite straight
forward. '

Jenda says 'Ask, child. '

Isela nods in agreement.

Isela says 'I have been in many battles recently, and I would like to know how you triage a situation
n healing soldiers.'

Isela says 'I have found it difficult to choose.'

Jenda says 'Well it depends on the situation really. Sometimes it's as simple as whoever is the most
injured. Other times account for those with less armor or more. less experience or more. Where you
are in the world. I find that asking helps. '

Jenda says 'Why do you find it difficult to choose? '

Isela says 'I was looking over some old class logs and found the Ethics of Healing...'

Isela says 'and I've found myself in similar situations recently.'

Isela says 'For example:'

Isela says 'A soldier who I suspect does not like the Power will certainly be overrun by trollocs if I
do not refresh his horse. Do I do it?'

Isela says 'I am not touching him with the Power, just his horse.'

Isela thinks really hard.

Jenda says 'You? Leave him and his horse alone. an Aes Sedai with experience and the gravitas to
back it up? It depends. Will leaving him alone cost lives of others? Then his ideology takes a
second fiddle to those lives and the tide of battle. '

Jenda says 'Nothing in this world is so black and white as this is ethical, this is not ethical. '

Isela says 'Yes, that is a good point.'

Isela says 'I also have a question for you regarding herbs, Aes Sedai'

Isela says 'I've run into many soldiers who require cures of different sorts, and I know I'm able to
cure them with the One Power, but they don't want it.'

Jenda arches a brow.

Isela says 'Does the Yellow require the knowledge of herbs and mixing to provide alternative methods in
these cases?'

Jenda says 'I do not deal in herbs that is for wisdoms and housewives. '

Jenda says 'we have the Talent for Healing... why would we bother with something so mundane? '

Isela nods thoughtfully.

Isela says 'I suppose the only reason would be to reach those who are afraid to be touched by true
Healing.'

Jenda says 'Alexis may dabble... but I'm sure her hobbies may interest you. '

Jenda says 'Their fear means little to me, to be quite frank. '

Jenda smirks.

Isela shows a small smile.

Isela says 'I appreciate your input on this Jenda Sedai'

Jenda nods at Isela.

Jenda says 'Penzei will be a good one to speak with on these topics as well. '

Jenda says 'Is that all, child? '

Isela says 'Is there anything else of battlefield healing wisdom that you could pass along?'

Jenda says 'Yes.. Lights, skin, dagger. Always. '

Jenda nods in agreement.

Jenda gestures with her hand.

Jenda says 'Good day. '

The door smoothly swings open.

Isela curtseys to her audience.
