Novices must learn that actions have consequences

Elmitsu admits to Raeza Sedai that she was involved in letting frogs into the Tower. Raeza makes sure that she understands that her actions have consequences, and the consequences will be more dire as she advances.

Raeza gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Elmitsu has arrived from the north.

Raeza gestures at the door with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Elmitsu nearly trips over her own feet as she offers a modestly improved curtsey.

Raeza sit down on a stout oaken chair.

Raeza says 'Good day, Elmitsu.'

Elmitsu's cheeks are flushed from her haste to arrive, but she smiles sweetly 'Grace favor you, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza says 'Have you completed your chores for today, child?'

Elmitsu nods dutifully 'I have been washing dishes and making food for the poor, Aes Sedai. I also spent some time with
Nevirha Sedai and Everesta Sedai of the Gray.'

Raeza says 'Oh? Food for the poor, that is a noble task. '

Elmitsu smiles slyly 'I am finding myself with fewer excuses to find myself in the Practice Yard.'

Raeza says 'Does this mean that your block is improving then?'

Elmitsu smiles ruefully 'Nevirha Sedai tricked me.'

Raeza says 'Oh? Do tell.'

Raeza eyes Elmitsu coolly.

Elmitsu explains, her voice growing animated 'She pretended to call for Rolfe.'

Elmitsu stretches out the story as if it were a tale of great adventure 'Then she blinded me with the One Power, Aes
Sedai. I couldn't see anything.'

Raeza nods, listening.

Elmitsu is tripping over her words in her haste to relay the story 'THEN -- she held my hand and pretended it was Rolfe.
So of course I could channel.'

Elmitsu juts out her chin proudly.

Raeza says 'And has that had any lasting effect?'

Raeza offers a slight smile.

Elmitsu scrunches her eyes shut.

Raeza senses Elmitsu connecting to the True Source.

Raeza says 'Ah! Very good.'

Raeza smiles a bit wider than usual.

Elmitsu opens her eyes, obviously pleased with herself if the wide grin she offers is any indication.

Raeza says 'And can you do that all the time, on demand?'

Elmitsu says 'I am trying to do it without picturing him at all.'

Elmitsu says 'And I am getting better, I think.'

Elmitsu closes her eyes once more.

Raeza senses Elmitsu connecting to the True Source.

Raeza says 'Have you replaced him with something else?'

Raeza says 'A rosebud? A river perhaps?'

Elmitsu says, and a tad conspiratorially 'I did not think I would ever be able to do that.'

Elmitsu says 'A yellow rose, Aes Sedai. It makes me think of the friends I've made here.'

Elmitsu says 'I have never really had friends.'

Elmitsu looks down to her feet.

Raeza says in a satisfied voice, 'Ah. Very good.'

Elmitsu looks up, and her eyes are free of moisture.

Elmitsu says 'I also wanted to say sorry, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza says 'For what, child?'

Elmitsu does not squirm under Raeza's attention, but she does shift from foot to foot for a moment.

Raeza arches an eyebrow.

Raeza says 'Well, spit it out.'

Elmitsu says 'For yesterday. I must not have eaten enough at lunch.'

Elmitsu says 'I just got really distracted by all my lessons and chores.'

Raeza says 'Ah. That. Did you see a Yellow sister, as I directed you?'

Elmitsu adds, and so quickly that her words nearly touch 'And-I-did-let-some-frogs-into-the-Tower.'

Elmitsu seems relieved to have delivered her confession.

Raeza says 'The frogs! We will return do that, do not think I have not heard you.'

Elmitsu says 'I did, Aes Sedai. Romanda Sedai said I was perfectly healthy and to not bother her again unless it was to
bring tea.'

Raeza nods in agreement.

Raeza says 'Very well. About these frogs. It was you who spread them about the Tower?'

Elmitsu says 'I brought in some.'

Elmitsu looks down to her feet once more.

Raeza says 'How many, child?'

Raeza says 'And where did you place them?'

Elmitsu says 'Lexiane got blamed for all of them, though, and I didn't think that was fair.'

Elmitsu continues 'Because I helped.'

Raeza says 'Was it your idea or hers?'

Elmitsu says 'It was a Novice in the library who suggested it to us.'

Elmitsu says 'She was hiding in the restricted section.'

Elmitsu says 'I don't want to tattle.'

Raeza says 'How many did you bring in?'

Elmitsu says 'A bucket of frogs.'

Raeza says 'Was it you who put them in the White quarters?'

Elmitsu says 'I helped.'

Elmitsu braces herself, and her lower lip is admirably still.

Raeza looks at Elmitsu with an icy seriousness.

Raeza says 'Well, what do you think should be done about this?'

Elmitsu says 'Lexiane cleaned them all up by herself, so maybe I should be punished.'

Elmitsu looks like she does not agree with her own words.

Raeza says 'Why do you think you should be punished?'

Elmitsu says 'Because I knew it was wrong when I was doing it.'

Raeza nods in agreement.

Elmitsu adds after a long moment 'But it was fun. I . . . like having friends.'

Elmitsu says 'I am sorry, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza says 'It is admirable that you admitted to this on your own, child. But...'

Elmitsu holds her breath.

Raeza says 'I think a punishment is still suitable.'

Raeza says 'The reason is simple.'

Raeza says 'Our actions have consequences, and that is a lesson that one must learn as an initiate of the Tower.'

Elmitsu nods slowly as she digests this.

Raeza says 'As a novice, you are shielded from most serious consequences.'

Raeza says 'But if you hope to become an Accepted one day, consequences of your actions may be much more severe.'

Elmitsu gulps for air like a fish out of water.

Elmitsu says 'I understand, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza says 'You will one day be allowed to leave the Tower as our representative. Your actions, if not carefully
considered, could have severe consequences not just for yourself, but for the whole of the Tower.'

Raeza says 'And should you ever wear the shawl one day, the consequences of a lapse in judgment could be dire.'

Raeza says 'So, a minor punishment now for bringing frogs into the Tower will serve to help you learn this lesson, that
your actions have consequences.'

Elmitsu juts her chin out defiantly 'I am going to be White Ajah, even if it means I can only have one warder.'

Raeza says 'Do you understand me, child?'

Elmitsu looks down to her hands, clasped as they are before her 'Yes, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza says 'If not, you will be lucky to make it through the arches, much less make it into my or any Ajah.'

Elmitsu nods, her eyes having grown larger by degrees.

Raeza says 'Well then. I am going to dock you a merit, and I wish you to seek out Sheriam Sedai for some switches. Explain
to her what you have done.'

Elmitsu says 'Yes, Aes Sedai.'

Elmitsu's hand reflexively drifts to her bottom.

Elmitsu's face is nearly so white as her dress and Raeza's shawl.

Raeza says 'dock Elmitsu 1 qps for letting frogs into the Tower'

A silver-haired Aes Sedai says 'As you command, Raeza Sedai. I will now DOCK QPS.'

A silver-haired Aes Sedai says 'It is done.'

Raeza nods in agreement.

Raeza rubs her chin a moment.

Raeza says 'Now then. You mentioned that Lexiane was also invovled in this frogging?'

Elmitsu says 'I believe she has already been punished by Damena Sedai, Aes Sedai.'

Raeza nods slowly.

Elmitsu lowers her voice to a near whisper 'Please don't tell her I told you, Aes Sedai! I only . . . I just wanted to

Raeza says 'Well, I would suggest that you remind her to admit to it in the event that she has NOT already told someone.'

Raeza says 'She is a more advanced novice and should know better, but punishment will be harsher if she does not admit to
it.'

Elmitsu nods slowly.

Raeza straightens her skirts.

Raeza says 'Have you anything else to say, child?'

Elmitsu looks up from the intense and scrupulous study of her feet 'Now is probably not a good time to ask for more
responsibilities, is it, Aes Sedai?'

Raeza says 'What do you think?'

Elmitsu offers her best chagrined smile as she scoots backward toward the door.

Elmitsu curtseys deeply. She is starting to get the hang of it.

Raeza says 'I do wish to see you progress soon, child. And you are making progress. Getting over your block is a good
achievement, and I also see other improvements.'

Raeza says 'Do not get into any more trouble, and I believe you should be ready for advancement soon.'

Elmitsu says 'Thank you, Aes Sedai. I hope we can talk again soon. I know you are very busy.'

Raeza nods in agreement.

Raeza says 'The Light illumine you, child. And stay out of trouble.'

Elmitsu says 'Is it alright for me to visit this study without being summoned?'

Raeza says 'You may always knock. I may or may not be available, of course.'

Raeza gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Elmitsu nods, and her eyes sparkle with something like affection. She curtseys again.

Elmitsu says 'Grace favor you, Raeza Sedai!'

Elmitsu capers out the door.

Elmitsu leaves north.

Raeza gestures at the door with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

... (moments later) ...

Elmitsu bellows 'OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!'

Raeza bellows 'Not too hard, Sheriam, it was only a few frogs.'
