Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.

Tigiria looks down at her hands and takes a deep breath.
Chloro looks to the novice Aes Sedai calm masking her face."You asked for a conversation. Enlighten
me as to the topic."
Tigiria says 'Oh, well, I was told that after I got my bearings beneath me and felt comfortable, that I
was to ask for responsibilities.'
Chloro says 'In what way?'
Tigiria bites her lower lip and looks thoughtful for a moment.
Tigiria says 'Well, you had Lexiane teach me a new way of doing the unblocking thing, and I showed her my
way.'
Tigiria says 'And I liked that, it felt good to be sharing help with people.'
Tigiria says 'There was a nice Accepted who helped us out in the kitchens and she seemed like -like what
do you call them, um.'
Tigiria says 'A model but not like a beautiful one'
Chloro says 'That is good much of what comes next is helping others. Tell me Child, do you know the
three oaths?'
Tigiria says 'A roll model, to show you the easiest way to move to where you need to go.'
Tigiria appears to realize that she is rambling and looks sheepishly back to you.
Tigiria says 'Yes Aes Sedai.'
Chloro says 'Recite them please.'
Tigiria clears her throat and begins to recite in a very precise way...
Tigiria says 'Oath one, Aes Sedai, is 'to speak no word that is not true'.'
Tigiria says 'Oath two is 'to make no weapon with which one man may kill another''
Chloro nods motioning the novice to continue
Tigiria says 'Oath three is 'Never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Darkfriends or Shadowspawn, or in the last extreme defense of her life, the life of her Warder, or another Aes
Sedai''
Chloro says 'Very good, I see you have committed them to memory.'
Tigiria says 'I am not very good at reading yet, so I had some of the other novices recite them with me.'
Chloro looks to the novice weighing her with gray eyes."Which have you found the hardest to live
by?"
Tigiria says 'We sang it like a song because one of my friends says her people's whole history is told in
song.'
Tigiria looks at you directly.
Tigiria says 'Well, I thought the first one would be a lot harder, and maybe I've slipped when I told
Myrtle I thought her hair looked nice or whenever Amilya asked for help and I said I was too tired.'
Chloro nods emitting a small chuckle."Many girls have trouble with the first. It is natural at your
stage."
Tigiria says 'Yeah well when I told Lexiane her hair looked bad, Amilya said I didn't have to say it even
if it was true.'
Tigiria says 'And that made sense I don't have to tell every truth, but the important ones.'
Chloro says 'In your time training you will learn Aes Sedai cannot speak a word that is untrue, yet
we are able to weave words that can give off the impression of something else. This will come with
time.'
Chloro says 'The truth you here may not always be as it seems.'
Chloro gestures with her hand.
The door smoothly swings open.
Raeza has arrived from the east.
Chloro gestures at the doors with her hand.
The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.
Raeza greets Chloro with a light kiss on her cheek.
Tigiria stumbles over an oaken chair as she tries to stand to curtsey.
Chloro rises and greets her sister.
Chloro greets Raeza with a light kiss on her cheek.
Raeza eyes Tigiria coolly.
Tigiria picks herself up off of the floor.
Chloro regains her chair motioning to the other about the table."Come sister."
Tigiria curtseys with a pained look on her face.
Raeza sits down on a stout oaken chair.
Chloro says 'Novice Tigiria seeks more responsibility.'
Raeza looks at Tigiria.
Raeza says 'On what basis does she seek more responsibility?'
Chloro says 'She has demonstrated a knowledge of the oaths, we where just discussing how the first
oath may give some girls trouble so early in their training. She seeks to become wearied.'
Raeza says 'I have a particular interest in the first oath.'
Raeza says 'I am eager to hear your thoughts, child.'
Chloro motions and yields the floor to Raeza.
Tigiria scratches the back of her neck.
Raeza says 'Did I interrupt your thoughts?'
Raeza says 'If so, do continue.'
Tigiria says 'Well, as I was saying to Chloro ---- Sedai.'
Tigiria coughs.
Tigiria says 'It can be hard to be telling the truth all the time.'
Tigiria says 'Some truths do not require telling and some lies seem as harmless as truths.'
Chloro looks to her sister with amused eyes then back to the novice.
Tigiria says 'Like when I told Lexiane that her half-shaved head was ugly and she should get a haircut
and Amilya Accepted said, that's not very nice you don't have to say that even if it's the whole
truth.'
Tigiria says 'Or when I said, 'OoOooh Myrtle your hair looks so nice today' when really I said that so
she would leave me alone because she makes fun of me for eating frogs and not knowing how to read.'
Raeza says 'What is the wording of the first oath child?'
Raeza says 'The precise wording.'
Tigiria says 'Aes Sedai, to speak no word that is not true.'
Raeza nods in agreement.
Tigiria says 'So to speak only true words, or only not untrue words?'
Raeza says 'Then, does it compel us to speak the truth?'
Tigiria says 'It's really confusing, Raeza Sedai.'
Tigiria taps her foot on the floor while she thinks.
Tigiria says 'No, only to not speak untruth.'
Raeza nods slowly.
Chloro says 'Perhaps you could demonstrate this theory novice?'
Tigiria begins to glance around anxiously, appearing slightly exasperated.
Raeza says 'Apply it to what you said about Accepted Amilya.'
Raeza says 'Did she have it right, then?'
Tigiria says 'I do not have to say every true thing I feel because it's not the rule, and also it's only
my true, what if it's not Lexiane's true and she likes her hair?'
Raeza says 'Even if it is the whole truth as you see it, you are not compelled to say it.'
Raeza says 'By the oath.'
Tigiria says 'And even if I want to say it it may not even be helpful or a good thing for my friend who
has half a head of hairs.'
Tigiria says 'Well no hairs now.'
Raeza says 'Truth and helpfulness are indeed not the same.'
Chloro clears her throat.
Tigiria says 'But what if someone asks me something and it's only true to me and not true to anyone
else?'
Tigiria has developed a confused whine to her voice.
Raeza says 'We know that the first oath only compels us to avoid untruths as we see them.'
Chloro says 'Another way to say the same is. "While I have not tried shaving part of my head, I do
hear that it can be a sign of nobility in other places."'
Tigiria says 'Truth is very confusing, Raeza Aes Sedai.'
Tigiria says 'Oh I didn't know that, Chloro Sedai, that is wonderful.'
Raeza says 'Truth is confusing, child. It is why we have an entire Ajah devoted to studying it.'
Chloro says 'Let us move on from this topic'

Lady Raeza Dovoros is sitting here on a stout oaken chair.
Chloro the Sister is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.
Chloro says 'Tell me Tigiria who is the current Amyrlin seat?'
Tigiria still has some wrinkles in her forehead but nods absently.
Tigiria says 'Oh, the lady in the big portrait is Seeoowan Sahnchay, I had Elmitsu sound it out for me.'
Tigiria says 'She is helping me learn letters when she isn't staring at warder students without shame!'
Tigiria says 'The Amyrlin Seat, that is, Aes Sedai-i.'
Chloro nods and looks to the novice "The correct pronouciation is Si-Uan San-Che"
Chloro says 'What is her the Amyrlins role within the tower?'
Tigiria says 'Letters are very confusing too, I miss being illiterate and living in a cart sometimes, Aes
Sedai.'
Chloro says 'We will sort you out in time.'
Tigiria says 'Well, she is the Mother of all the Aes Sedai and she doesn't have an Ajah affiliation
anymore and she watches these...seals?'
Tigiria says 'I saw seals once in Tarabon but I think these are different ones, like when you put wax on
a letter.'
Raeza disappears into the void.
Raeza has returned.
Chloro says 'The Amyrlin is the ruler of the white tower. She is also considered one of the
strongest living channelers that are sworn to the White Tower.'
Tigiria nods in agreement.
Tigiria says 'She is a ruler but then there's a Hall that can rule her sometimes?'
Tigiria says 'Like there was another Mother who is no longer the Mother, Cadsuane?'
Raeza says 'Cadsuane Sedai.'
Raeza eyes you coolly.
Chloro says 'The hall is a separate entity to the Amyrlin comprised of three sitters from each Ajah.
They work as a check and Balance to each other.'
Tigiria says 'I wasn't sure if she still was or not, my apologies.'
Tigiria says 'Raeza Sedai.'
Chloro says 'Cadsuane Sedai has retired dear, no longer a part of Tower life.'
Chloro says 'At this time I cannot see to advancing you in rank. I think you would benefit in more
training in tower knowledge. I would like you seek out an Aes Sedai you have not interacted with and
request a lesson. You may do this by Tell, or Forum mail. After this Lesson we will review again.'
Tigiria frowns and lowers her eyes.
Raeza looks at Tigiria.
Raeza says 'You have just arrived, child, have you now?'
Chloro says 'The further your rise in the Tower, the harder your journey will become. There is no
shame in needed more Tempering before advancing.'
Tigiria says 'But they said I was doing good.'
Tigiria wipes her eyes quickly.
Tigiria turns and makes for the door.
Raeza arches an eyebrow.
Tigiria stands in front of the locked door.
Chloro says 'It is good you are making progress Tigiria, however merits alone will not carry you
into the next ranks. Learning, and adjusting will. If you have to had a lesson with Raeza Sedai yet,
perhaps she will have time for one?'
Raeza says 'I did ask you a direct question, child.'
Tigiria doesn't respond, and appears to be trembling violently.
Chloro says 'Attempting to leave before an Aes Sedai has dismissed you is often futile.'
Raeza says 'I would like to have an answer before you bolt for the door, without being dismissed.'
Tigiria sits down in front of a door and hugs her knees.
Raeza arches an eyebrow.
Chloro looks to Raeza as she embraces saidar ready to shield the novice if needed.
Raeza says 'Perhaps a lesson with Sheriam is more suitable than one with me at the moment.'
Chloro says 'Deep breaths Tigiria, calm deep breaths as we praticed.'
Tigiria breathes raggedly.
Raeza says 'It seems Sheriam has not instilled in her proper decorum when she is before Aes Sedai.'
Tigiria says 'I--I--don't want to be seen this way.'
Chloro rises from the chair moving closer to the novice breathing deeply as a boon the novice can
lock onto. "Easy, deep breath, feel the emotion and allow it to pass through you."
Tigiria says 'She's never gonna like me now.'
Tigiria gestures over her shoulder in Raeza's direction.
Chloro looks to Raeza and motions with her eyes to the picture of water and mugs.
Tigiria says 'Just wants me to be beaten, I guess.'
Tigiria says 'I saw Sheriam's torture chair!'
Tigiria says 'I left home because I got beat every day and you want to beat me more!'
Tigiria says 'You're all the same, light burn you all!'
Raeza strolls slowly over to the water pitcher and pours a glass.
Tigiria hugs her knees.
Chloro says 'Easy Tigiria, you are no longer in your traveling troupe. Here you must take the good
with the bad. Sheriam Sedai is a fair woman and will judge as she sees fit.'
Tigiria sobs quietly.
Raeza coldly says, "I want no novice to be beaten, child. I do however want discipline."
Raeza takes a glass of water to Tigiria.
Tigiria says 'All the same, it's all the same. There's no where for me to go.'
Chloro places a hand on Tigiria's shoulder."Each failure is a lesson Tigiria, Raeza Sedai and I did
not reach the positions we have without a healthy dose of it."
Raeza clambers to her feet.
Raeza looks at Tigiria.
Tigiria flinches at the touch and ducks her head defensively.
Chloro says 'Come now, you are a initiate of the White Tower, hold yourself as one.'
Raeza strokes her chin.
Tigiria looks up at Chloro with tear-stained eyes.
Chloro looks to her sister while keeping an eye on the gil.
Tigiria says 'I am just a kid, and I'm doing my best.'
Tigiria says 'You ageless ones probably don't even bleed anymore.'
Chloro looks down a slight bit of sympathy in her eyes."That is all we ask of you, we will stood in
the same shoes you do now once upon a time. We know your struggles and will carry them with you."
Tigiria wipes her face off.
Chloro says 'As a matter of fact I believe the dress you are wearing belonged to Elyse Sedai many
moons ago.'
Tigiria looks down at her tear-stained dress and chokes a short wail.
Tigiria says 'I don't come from rich parents who taught me how to read, I did my best to learn the
lessons from people who could read.'
Tigiria says 'Everyone here got to have real lives.'
Tigiria says 'It's not fair.'
Raeza has a slight twitch in her eye.
Chloro says 'Girls come here much like you came to use and eventually they break just as you have.
Our life is harder than most women so it comes with much training. I was the daughter of a
blacksmith, reading and writing was not my strong point but through time I learned.'
Chloro says 'Mother, Siuan Sanche was the daughter of a poor fisherman in tear.'
Tigiria says 'I bet she at least had a da.'
Tigiria sighs.
Raeza says 'Part of our job, child, is to help you build character and resilience. And the earlier
you do so, the better. Resilience is pulling yourself up from difficult circumstances and making the
best of it.'
Raeza sounds less sympathetic than Chloro.
Chloro nods backing her sisters words.
Tigiria looks up at Raeza with an equally unsympathetic gaze.
Tigiria says 'Yes, Aes Sedai.'
Chloro says 'Now perhaps you should stand up before you get more dirt on your dress. I think we have
all had a good conversation for today. '
Raeza says 'Take heard in what you have heard today, and think on what is required for you to
advance.'
Tigiria rolls up to her feet, as a tumbler might.
Raeza says 'We do want you to progress.'
Raeza says 'take heart even'
Raeza grumbles under her breath about certain people.
Tigiria says 'I don't know what is required.'
Tigiria says 'The others said I was to ask and answer the questions the best I could.'
Chloro says 'As I tasked you, meet with 1 Sedai and we will continue this conversation after that.
What is required is control of your emotions and knowledge of the tower.'
Tigiria says 'Yes Aes Sedai.'
Raeza says 'We want to see some evidence of what you have been doing and learning since you arrived
here.'
Raeza says 'As my sister says, meet with an Aes Sedai and you can report on what you have learned.'
Chloro says 'With this we have progress, now I know washing dishes helped me move through my
emotions. You may want to try the same, let them out as you scrub.'
Tigiria looks down at her still-pruned fingertips.
Tigiria says 'Yes Aes Sedai'
Chloro chuckles at the novice. "The larger pots require a brush. It will save your hands."
Chloro says 'If I do not hear from you we will speak in 1 week from now. If I hear back sooner we
can speak then.'
Tigiria says 'The steam scalds me, Aes Sedai. Is that how I get my skin to be smooth?'
Tigiria says 'Yes Aes Sedai'
Chloro says 'Then you are dismissed for now novice, unless Raeza Sedai has more to add.'
Raeza says 'Seek me out if you wish to discuss the first oath more, child. I am always happy to
discuss that topic.'
Raeza says 'No, I think we are finished.'
Raeza says 'The Light illumine you child.'
Chloro nods and looks to the door
Tigiria says 'And you, Aes Sedai.'
Chloro gestures with her hand.
The door smoothly swings open.
Tigiria looks longingly at the door.
Chloro says 'Light illumine you Novice.'
Tigiria says 'And you, Aes Sedai.'
Tigiria curtseys stiffly.
Maybe you should get on your feet first?
Chloro says 'Off you pop then.'
Tigiria stands up.
