Continuing Down the Hall
An impression of a full sized sword has been worked into each of the huge
white floorstones in the main hallway of the Green Ajah quarters. Even to
the casual eye it is obvious that there are swords in two dozen different
styles - single-edged and double, curved and straight. Every door along the
hallway has been carved with a sword, point up, gilded for the rooms of
Sitters and silver or lacquered for many others. Wall hangings depicting
scenes of battle line the pristine white walls of pale white stone.

A Long, Portrait-Lined Hallway
Multi-hued green floor tiles stretching beyond the double doors to the west
abruptly change to large white tiles impressed with a full sized sword in
the Green Ajah wing. A frieze of oak leaves, acorns and empty acorn caps
decorates the top of the wall, the leaves so thinly carved they seem ready
to flutter away in a breeze. Combined with the pale white walls, the tiles
would give the hallway a stark appearance, were it not for the colorful
portraits of women wearing the staff and stole that have been spaced
several spans apart along the wall of the hallway.

from the west, slowly begin to fade until only many-hued green tiles cover
the floor. A frieze depicting thinly carved oak leaves that almost seem to
wait until a breeze rustles them adorns the top of the wall, an occasional
acorn or an empty cap between them. Two polished double doors with brass
handles lie to the east, offering entry to the Green Ajah wing.

In the Corridor
A band of reen floor tiles coming in from the north, mingles with a band of
blue floor tiles coming in from the south, finally forming a checkered
pattern. A stairwell of pale white stone, lit by iron hanging lamps leads
to the other floors in the Tower. A painting hangs on the wall opposite the
stairwell, depicting a woman holding the White Tower in the palm of her one
hand and a map of the world west of the Spine of the World in the other.

west, gradually thinning out until only tiles in various shades of blue
remain. Needle thin juniper leaves and fruits have been carved into a
frieze that rests just below the curvature of the arched ceiling, which is
at least fifteen feet high. A pair of polished double doors with brass
handles to the east offers entry into the Blue Ajah wing.

Branching off Corridors
Snaking upwards, this broad corridor ensnares the core of the Tower. Two
corridors branch off this central hallway at a level section, leading east
and south towards two Ajah wings. Ceilings at least fifteen feet high arch
overhead, their supporting ribs fancyfully carved with a band of leaves.
The floor tiles change to the east, with increasing tones of blue.
Similarly, the multi-colored bands enclosing the pale white floor shed
their colors to the south, leaving only yellow and gold.

Spiky balls of finely carved cedar needles and scaled cones both closed and
opened, form the frieze that runs along the top of the wall of pale white
stone. Glossy yellow tiles interspersed with gold mosaic laid in a wavy
pattern, run all the way up to a pair of polished double doors with brass
handles, announcing the Yellow Ajah wing to the south.

In the Wide Hallway
Walls of stonework the color of bleached bone contrast sharply with the
floors of brightly colored tiles in all seven colors of the Ajahs. Golden
stand lamps are spaced evenly along the corridor, spreading pools of warm,
flickering light both day and night. Niches containing statuettes or
expensive Sea Folk vases break the monotony of the white walls.

A Large Round Entry Hall
Two intricately carved doors, wide enough for fifteen men abreast lie to
the south, allowing entry into this large, round entry hall. Archways in
the walls of stonework the color of bleached bone allow for passage deeper
into the White Tower. This hall is used to receive petitioners who seek
council from an Aes Sedai. The marble floor has been inlaid with a mosaic
of a spiral of blue, brown, gray, green, red, white and yellow, which
converges in the center of the large, domed hall.

The White Tower looms to the north, rising over a hundred spans into the

Wide enough for fifteen men abreast, the gates allowing access to the Tower
grounds are iron bound. The gilded Flames of Tar Valon set high up in the
thick timber have been polished to a shine that a Tinker would find
satisfactory. A cool river breeze wafts through the gate, making the trees
and bushes in the grounds to the north rustle and sway. The pale shaft of
the White Tower lies to the north, reaching a hundred spans into the air.

Passing the Water Garden
The path enters a thicket and the foliage of the trees shade the path from
the sky. Just beyond the foliage lies a series of ponds and waterways.
Lilypads bob up and down on the waters and water irises add splashes of
yellow and purple to the scene. Arching bridge of white stone cross the
ponds, lined with lacy stone railings.

Path Through the East Garden
White, translucent gravel blankets the wide path and sparkles in the light,
whether it be day or night. The parkland stretches forth between the Tower
and the Sunrise Gate, to the east. Roses and calma bushes flank the paths.
The White Tower and the two domed wings that contain the Novice quarters
lies to the west, bordered by short shrubs. A broad stairs with steps at
least a span in depth reaches up to the entrance on the second floor.

The gateway is arched at the top and wide enough for fifteen men abreast.
The gates themselves are iron bound and the gilded rising suns high up in
the thick timber have been polished to shine with extraordinary luster.
Brackets set in the white wall support an enormous crossbar when it is not
in use. The Tower grounds lie to the west, while the square that surrounds
the Tower and its grounds on all sides lies to the east.

Here, the avenue is just east of the great Tower Square. The tower walls rise
up only to be surpassed by the White Tower, itself. Looking east, the avenue
runs forth, eventually meeting Serpent Street and Merchant Street in the
distance. The Gate of Daghain can be seen in the horizon, indicating the
eastern border of Tar Valon.

uncollected, the forest gradually reclaiming the soil with new growth.

Earth Avenue
The avenue blossoms with the wonderous Ogier craftsmanship. The buildings are
rounded to imitate gently rolling hills while fountains and shallow pools lie
among them reminding the observer of quiet lakes and ponds. The Laugde Gate
stands just to the east while Earth Avenue continues west.

Entering this section of the avenue, the style of the masonry changes.
The whole look of the avenue takes on a mountainous look. Rooftops become
pointed to resemble peaks while window balconies jut out, reminiscent of
sharp cliffs. Serpent Street intersects from the north and south cutting
through the line of peaked rooftops like a sharp ravine.

Earth Avenue
One of the fabled lanes of Tar Valon, this avenue makes its way from Tower
Square to the northeast section of the city. Skillfully constructed long
ago by Ogier stonemasons, this part of the avenue has been built to the
theme of a forested valley. Tall pillars akin to great wooded tree trunks
support overhanging roofs while flowing fountains adorn them. Numerous
statues and carvings of bears, deer, and squirrels abound throughout the
area. To the south Earth Avenue ends in Tower Square but to the east,
the avenue continues. A magnificent lodge branches up and out to the north.

Tower Square
Here at the northeast corner of the Tower Square, the great city rises
up all around. In the center of the square is the White Tower, walled
off from the rest of the city. To the north Earth Avenue leads off to
the Luagde Gate. The square continues west and south.

Tower Square
This side of the square faces the eastern section of Tar Valon. In the
walled off square is the White Tower, overlooking the whole city. Great
avenues converge on the square from the north and south while Eastside
Avenue heads directly east towards Daghain Gate. To the west lies the
eastern gate into the tower grounds. The square continues to the north
and south.

Here the city sprawls forth from the square. Fire Avenue blazes its
way from the south towards this southeast corner of the square.
Looking down along Fire Avenue, the Osenrein Gate is visible in the
horizon. The walled off tower lies in the center of the Tower Square.
The square continues to the north and west.
