The Warders' Practice Yard
[ obvious exits: N E S W ]
Zone: White Tower Ground Floor
Door east: officedoor
A mirrored lantern has been left here.
An iron lantern hangs from the wall above the gate.
A weapon rack stands on the ground here, ready to store weapons.
Some elaborate figurines spew fresh water into a broad basin here.
Chloro the Journey Accepted is standing here.
Lord Draz the Gaidin Commander is standing here.
Tolza the Tower Accepted, Brown Ajah Apprentice is standing here.
Talasia Nelaan the Tower Accepted, Red Ajah Apprentice is standing here, riding a Domani razor.
A gray palfrey prances skittishly nearby.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A grim storyteller reads from a journal.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
A warder's student stands here catching his breath.
Coulin the Master of Arms is here teaching his students.
A gray haired weaponsmaster stands nearby.

Chloro nods in agreement.

Chloro curtseys gracefully.

Talasia gives a small smile.

Konita gives a hopeful smile

Draz says 'aight'

Chloro nods in agreement.

Draz says 'Konita'

Tolza thinks hard.

Draz says 'can you do.. 3 min?'

Tolza says '3 min.'

Draz says 'for a quick run down'

Draz nods in agreement.

Tolza now follows Draz.

Draz says 'so I want to just do a quick rundown'

Draz says 'on some pk and survival tactics'

Konita says 'Sorry anything you need yes'

Chloro now follows Draz.

fol draz
Konita now follows Draz.

Draz says 'Konita, have you been attacked? in Tar Valon or before your arrival here?'

Konita says 'Once before yes'

Chloro chuckles politely.

Draz says 'I have some basic suggestions and requests for survival'

Draz says 'and they revolve around the policies and restrictions for novices, accepted, and up'

Konita says 'That would be very helpful thank you'

Draz says 'so for Novices, you are usually considered as an easy kill, restricted to Tar Valon
itself can be boring and many people don't pay much attention'

Konita nods in agreement.

Draz says 'with this in mind your greatest threat is stabbers, and occasionally just being hit afk
and dying outright.'

Draz says 'so all I can recommend here is to stay vigilent if you are playing, don't sit still
between mobs in exp, don't sit still to talk or clarify things etc.'

Draz says 'or if you do, have notice on, and type look for hiddens'

Draz says 'genreally unless you are moving fast, keeping notice on is a good recommendation'

Draz says 'for novices particularly, you are not expected to pk, if someone attacks you, run to
Sheriam, or the novice quarters, or Coulin, a point of safety.'

Tolza sips from the skin.

Konita says 'Once safe am i free to offer assistance in the form of status weaves and heals?'

Draz says 'this is part of your RP - there are tehcnical loopholes - for example I know a novice,a real Mary Sue type, who purposefully got caught in a door, so she could justify killing the opponent.'

Draz says 'always, such service is appreciated by all and a merit to you'

Konita says 'I will try to avoid those situations if i can'

Draz says 'I feel its relevant to mention that as much fun as I had with that pun, the novices name did not begin with an M'

Draz tastes a little bit of a strange fruit.

Draz says 'ok'

Draz says 'so. novices, stay aware, don't stand still for stabs, and go to safe rooms and nohides'

Draz says 'also, if you see a hidden,..dont stand in the room'

Draz says 'you can engage with k h.dark, or you can just walk out'

Tolza sips from the skin.

Draz says 'a stab timer is around 3 seconds IRL, walk 1 room and its defeated'

Draz says 'keep walking a room every second or so, and you can just not eat a stab :)'

Draz says 'while your bakcup mobilizes to come and protect you'

Draz winks suggestively.

Konita nods in agreement.

Draz says 'ok'

Konita gives a hopeful smile

Draz says 'next up'

Draz says 'for Accepted'

Draz says 'you are now expected to learn to playerkill'

Draz says 'usually this is in a group, with supervision, however not always, and as you can venture
around alone, sometimes you will be hit by many'

Tolza sips from the skin.

The White Tower's spire gleams softly in the first light of a new day.

Draz says 'its good to build habits of not standing still, being aware any time you are not in a
safe room'

Talasia says 'And it's even now required to get a player remort scalp to shawl.'

Draz says 'I also find it makes the game more engaging'

Draz says 'thats neither here nor there, it'll happen'

Draz says 'some weeks I might kill a dozen fades'

Talasia gives a small smile.

Draz says 'as an accepted I would expect you to build on this'

Draz says 'layer that with an ability to ensure you aren't unengaged in group fights'

Tolza sips from the skin.

Talasia nods in agreement.

Draz says 'that if someone INSTANT flees in a group fight with a stabber, you can recognise a
fleestab attempt and immediately reenage or leave the room'

Konita says 'as in flee stabbing?'

Draz winks suggestively.

Draz says 'and also'

Draz says 'like..'

Draz says 'over half the fcs I've seen die in fights in the last year'

Draz says 'literally a stabber flees out of the room, reenters,a nd stabs them dead'

Draz says '3 seconds to reengage and they dont'

Draz says 'its ok to let a weave finish rolling if you were engaged when your opponent fled.. they need 3 seconds to run their new timer'

Draz says 'but if your target isnt in room when it finishes you want to have k dark, or leave room stacked and ready to go'

Draz says 'ok the next bit I want to talka bout is targetting, primary and secondary targets, and the KISS principle'

Draz says 'Talasia can you help me out here? '

Talasia thinks hard.

Draz says 'keep it simple, then layer the explanation'

Draz says 'if there are queries then feel free to delve'

Talasia says 'It is important to set priority targets.'

Chloro is paying attention

Talasia says 'For instance, if there is a dreadlord, he or she will be a top priority target.'

Talasia says 'Often the leader of your group will call out their opinion as well.'

Talasia says 'For instance, pay close attention when others are calling out how low their opponents are in a group fight.'

Talasia says 'As Draz Gaidin said, opponents will often be fleeing in and out of a fight, and it's important to be able to set your targets quickly.'

Tolza stops following Draz.

Chloro drinks water from a leather water flask.

Talasia says 'Also, it is important to pay attention to who you are engaged on in larger group fights.'

Konita says 'do you use targeting scripts or just quick alias' usually?'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'I try to have aliases set for two targets at any given time.'

Talasia says 'So that I am ready for an engagement.'

Konita says 'tgt and h.tgt?'

Konita says 'or something different'

Tolza says 'Whayt are your defalt targets?'

Draz thinks hard.

Draz says 'good question'

Draz says 'can i interject'

Konita sits down.

Draz says 'Talasias response was great, but also a little higher level than I wanted to start with'

Talasia says 'Often, I will have "dark" targeted as well as another priority target by name, such as a dreadlord, fade, or a particularly low opponent.'

Talasia nods at Draz.

Konita looks up intently

Draz says 'ok'

Draz says 'so I genreally request'

Draz says 'that as well as having your weaves memorised..for example knowing the weaves for ice spikes or a fireball by heart'

Draz says 'that any person has alias for targetting h.dark with their primary trigger at all time'

Draz says 'ooc my alias for flame strike h.dark is a, my alias for ice spikes h.dark is z'

Talasia says 'Always use h.target for weaves as well.'

Draz says 'whether you use macros, or manual aliases, or targetting triggers, are a matter of choice'

Draz tastes a little bit of a strange fruit.

Draz says 'generally speaking, for a newer pker, I would expect you to be spamming kill dark'

Draz says 'and as soon as you see we have entered a room with enemies, to hit weave ice spikes
h.dark'

Draz says 'and.. if you don't have any better goal.. to just keep hitting that'

Draz says 'again you want to stay engaged with whats happening, if you get hit and your weave's interrupted you want to restart'

Draz says 'if your weave ends, you want to restart'

Chloro says 'Do you prefer the longer weaves over shorter when its just trollocs and fades?'

Draz says 'if your oppnent flees and doesnt reenter, you want to restart'

Draz says 'this is again a matter of strategy and preference'

Talasia says 'If they are fleeing a lot, I will often switch to short weaves once they've built up fleelag.'

Draz says 'however for such fights against anything but DLs the preference would be to keep it simple and go with ice spikes'

Draz nods at Talasia.

Talasia says 'If they are reentering quickly, sometimes it pays to let a logn weave roll.'

Draz says 'so there are strategic reasons'

Draz says 'one thing Relena Sedai does a lot against DLs'

Draz says 'is a short weave'

Draz says 'and then a long weave'

Draz says 'if they dont think you're good'

Draz says 'they'll flee and outwait the short weave'

Draz says 'then reenter to smack you'

Draz says 'however the standard against dls is to short weave'

Draz says 'and keep short weaving'

Chloro nods in agreement.

Draz says 'and just focus on them every time they enter to short weave them'

Draz says 'while..advanced pkers pick their targets'

Draz says 'usually a leader will call targets'

Draz says 'for example I might call target porka'

Draz says 'or target fade'

Draz says 'in that case.. if I'm weaving, I'll type out alias zz channel 'ice spikes' porka while the weave completes'

Draz says 'then hit enter, then zz'

Konita nods in agreement.

Draz says 'if porka has eaten a bash id probably just type ice porka'

Draz says 'and cancel my current weave'

Konita isn't in touch with saidar to release anything.

Draz says 'with macros, targetting, etc. you can sort that sort of thing out without interrupting
weaves'

Draz says 'but as i do everything manually i cant'

Draz thinks hard.

Draz says 'sorry that was jut wahat i wanted to itnercede on'

The White Tower is bathed in a reddish orange light as the sun sets.

Draz says 'having a single primary h.dark weave'

Draz says 'and I cahnge that to h.seanchan or h.wanted if fighting others'

Konita says 'very useful'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Draz says 'but its great to just be able to hit the one weave and do damage to 'someone''

Chloro nods in agreement.

Draz says 'rather than sit there'

Draz says 'trying to type out aliases'

Draz says 'if nothign else'

Draz says 'you can enter combat'

Draz says 'k dark'

Draz says 'ice h.dark'

Draz says 'and alias say.. zz ice h.zangief'

The night has begun.

Draz says 'ok, talasia thoughts?'

Draz says 'oh'

Talasia says 'Those are good points.'

Draz says 'i want to cover fleeing, not running back into bashes, and fleeing before bashes'

Draz says 'can you try a rundown on that'

Talasia says 'I always have a set k dark that I always have. For me, it's 'z'.'

Talasia says 'That way if I am weaving someone specific, I don't need to change my aliases if they flee out. I can immediately hit k dark to stay engaged on someone.'

Talasia says 'In a fight it's important to know who you are buffing.'

Talasia says 'If you are buffing a heavy basher, it is often good to flee out, wait out a bash timer, then reenter to engage on someone else.'

Draz nods in agreement.

Draz says 'or?'

Talasia says 'If you are on a stabber, they are unlikely to break your defense unbashed.'

Draz thinks hard.

Draz says 'if you're in a decent set'

Draz looks at Tolza.

Konita says 'quick question on that'

Talasia nods at Draz.

Draz says 'go for it'

Draz looks at Konita.

Konita says 'is the shiney copper dagger still very high ob?'

Draz says 'no'

Draz mutters to himself in complete disgust.

Konita nods in agreement.

Konita says 'ok'

Talasia gives a small smile.

Draz says 'tspikes and taxes are pretty high ob'

Draz says 'but dont have the attack the copper daggers did'

Konita nods in agreement.

Draz says 'master trolloc rogue with str will have very good ob also'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'Also, if you are on a basher, you can target them by name to chill them, and make yourself safer to weave the primary target.'

Konita says 'sorry another question about fleeing out and reentering on your basher'

Talasia nods in agreement.

As you watch Draz seems to melt into the background, vanishing.

Konita says 'would that not give them a chance to double stack on another?'

Konita says 'or is that just ok and they they flee out'

Talasia says 'it could, depending on how many allies and opponents are fighting.'

Konita nods in agreement.

Konita says 'i understand its probably not a simple question'

Konita says 'or rather one with a simple answer'

Talasia says 'Sometimes it is advantageous to have two of them on a more sturdy ally, leaving you free to weave without worrying about getting bashed.'

Konita says 'i see'

Konita says 'i'll try to pay special attention to it when i get my next rank and can begin to help more'

Talasia says 'But it is also good to 'con' your opponents and allies, and pay close attention to narrates for when people call out who is low/bashed/etc'

Konita says 'that actually raises yet another question'

Talasia says 'Sorry, i said 'con' I meant diagnose'

Konita says 'you mentioned earlier its a decent fallback to just weave spikes'

Talasia blushes.

Talasia nods in agreement.

Konita says 'but i've noticed through narrates sometimes you want fc's to wait until they are low'

Talasia says 'That's a great observation'

Konita says 'i think i understand the reasoning most times'

Konita says 'but if you could clarify that more it would be great'

Talasia says 'sometimes it pays to wait until their group is a little bit lower. That way you have a chance to finish some of them off all at once.'

Konita says 'mostly for the suprise factor then?'

Talasia says 'If you weave all at once at the beginning, and get them low, they may flee off and get away before you can finish them off'

Konita nods in agreement.

Konita says 'again sorry for all the questions'

Talasia says 'It will also depend on the group you are fighting.'

Konita says 'but when the group does break and flee'

Talasia says 'No problem! That's the reason for Draz's class!'

Talasia smiles happily.

Konita says 'what is expected of the followers, that they run to the block exits?'

Talasia says 'That will be up to the leader of your group.'

Konita says 'but if left unspecified?'

Konita says 'is there a norm?'

Talasia says 'Some are very fast, and will want you to stay with them and simply spam for the runners as he/she catches them.'

Talasia says 'If unspecified, stay with your leader.'

Konita nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'The enemy could potentially regroup quickly, and you wouldn't want to end up alone and cut off from your group.'

Konita says 'good point'

Talasia says 'A healthy channeler could die quickly to a full group of critical trollocs if caught
alone.'

Konita shivers uncomfortably.

Konita says 'of that i am aware'

Talasia comforts Konita.

Talasia says 'However, if your leader tells you to go to a choke point, go there quickly.'

Konita says 'and by that you mean general choke point in that area right?'

Konita says 'again unless specfied'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'Usually the leader will say exactly which choke point he or she would like you to
block.'

Talasia says 'It will all depend on the leader and their communication skills.'

Chloro says 'Like blocking the gates in Wb now its making sense.'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Konita says 'thats makes sense, if not i would just try to block whatever thier safest escape route would be'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Talasia strokes her chin thoughtfully.

Talasia says 'Any other questions? Draz is the expert, but I can attempt to answer what I can.'

Chloro says 'If your going to Pk on the regular would you advise dropping travel to get fireball or do spikes just make a better choice?'

Talasia says 'Personally, I very rarely practice travel.'

Talasia says 'Since it has a high failure rate when you have no-quit these days.'

Chloro says 'those fizzles now make sense'

Talasia says 'However, it can be very useful to get to combat, for quests, or an escape in a last
-ditch effort.'

Konita says 'so... its still possible in combat? just very hard?'

** This weave of the Wheel ends in 5 minutes...

Talasia nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'It will have approximately a 1/3 chance to succeed.'
Konita says 'good to know'

Chloro nods in agreement.

Talasia says 'So it's possible, but especially if you're low on sps, you might not want to rely on
it.'

send me a tell :)'

Konita says 'I must say, this has been Great. i've learned alot'

Talasia smiles happily.

** This weave of the Wheel ends in 4 minutes...
Chloro says 'I have learned more now than i have in 10 years lol'

Talasia says 'A stronger all-around Tower is a stronger Lightside!'

Talasia says 'Glad to hear that it's been helpful!'

Konita says 'I hope to rank to Accepted very soon and i'll be putting these words of advice to practice'

** This weave of the Wheel ends in 3 minutes...

Talasia nods in agreement.

Draz says 'reworded or edited out clearly ooc dung'

Draz says 'and posted'

** This weave of the Wheel ends in 2 minutes...

Draz thinks hard.

Draz says 'any questions'

Talasia thanks Konita heartily.

Konita stands up.

Konita curtseys to her audience.

Konita says 'Thanks again'

Talasia says 'Happy to help.'

Draz nods in agreement.

Draz says 'this feeds into another recent discussion'

** This weave of the Wheel ends in 1 minute...

Draz says 'of burst vs spread damage'

Draz says 'if we run into a fight'

Draz says 'and all target one person'

Talasia nods at Draz.

Draz says 'they get low and run'

Draz says 'and everything gets called aroudn that'

Draz says 'if we go intoa fight'

Draz says 'and spread damage around'

Draz says 'so it looks liek we're losing'

Draz says 'until one of them is batt'

Draz says 'and they 2-3 fcs target each batt target in order'

A gray palfrey lays its ears flat against its neck.

Draz says 'its HGUELY powerful'

Draz says 'so say a fight with'

Talasia says 'That's the surprise factor you were asking about.'

Talasia nods in agreement.

Draz says '3 warriors and 3 fcs'
