Chloro in Rare Form

Post by Catisune » Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:20 am

In which Chloro the Novice and Catisune Sedai discuss Shienaran poetry, among other things.

<><><>

Chloro has arrived from the south.

Chloro deeply curtsey's to the Aes Sedai near.

Catisune arches an eyebrow at the open door.

Chloro says 'Good evening Catisune Sedai, a scribe said you requested me to come?'

Catisune says 'That I did, child.'

Catisune says 'Did you be born in a barn? Close the door behind, you child.'

Chloro blushes.

Chloro closes the door.

Catisune does not smile, but her eyes twinkle merrily.

Chloro says 'I am sorry Aes Sedai, I will remember that for future meetings.'

Catisune sits in one of the plush chairs near the Ajah study windows, facing the River Erinin through
the window.

Catisune says 'Come, child, let me see your hands.'

Chloro carefully and quietly brushes a bit of dust from her skirt before bearing the Aes Sedai.

Catisune waves Chloro over impatiently, an embroidery hoop in one hand, 'Come, come.'

Chloro softly walks over to the Aes Sedai hopeing the dust is gone offering her hands palms up a few
light callouses showing from the forge.

Catisune examines Chloro's hands with an air of studied disinterest, 'What do you think of Laras?'

Chloro says 'I think she is a, diligent woman.'

Catisune finally breaks into a wide smile, blinking her large, watery eyes, 'That she is, child.'

Catisune gestures to the empty chair opposite her, 'You may sit.'

Chloro smiles warmly not sure if she did good or if she just skirted by.

Chloro moves to a chair opposite the Aes Sedai.

Chloro says 'Thank you Catisune Sedai.'

Catisune says 'Tell me of your studies, child.'

Chloro says 'They go well I was just in a lesson with Accepted Gemenia and Accept Tolza tutored me
earlier.'

Catisune works her embroidery hoop, occasionally flipping it over to observe meticulous back-stitching.

Catisune continues studying her embroidery hoop, though she addresses the Novice, 'And what do you
know of the True Source, child? Of the One Power that turns the Wheel of Time?'

Catisune amends, 'That is why you are here, after all.'

Chloro says 'I know that we are able to guide it into the form of weaves and that it is composed of
all the elements.'

Chloro says 'If that is true then the power must me present in all things Aes Sedai.'

Catisune says 'Saidin and Saidar, connected and oppositional, working together and against one another to
turn the Wheel. To weave the pattern of our creation.'

Chloro smooths her skirts clasping her hands on her lap. "It makes me wonder Catisune Sedai, if we
are all made from the pattern, why can only a few channel the True source?"

Catisune says 'The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills, child.'

Chloro nods in contemplation.

Catisune says 'In ages past, many more than such as us channeled the One Power. They created feats of
great wonder and called them ordinary.'

Chloro says 'I have heard of these things in a class on the age of legends. They sound fascinating.

Catisune taps her lip thoughtfully.

Catisune says 'Fascinating indeed, child.'

Catisune says, reciting as she pivots topics, 'The rosepetal floats on water. / The kingfisher flashes
above the pond. / Life and beauty swirl in the midst of death.'

Catisune says 'She is popular in the Borderlands, for each of her poems is an elegy.'

Chloro says 'is Anasai A favorite poet of yours Catisune Sedai?'

Catisune says 'She speaks to any who have lost. Have you not lost, child?'

Catisune arches an eyebrow after a long moment, 'Well, you are young.'

Chloro says 'I think every girl here that aspires to the banded dress will know a sort of loss Aes
Sedai.'

Catisune 's eyes narrow, yet they soften despite, 'Correct.'

Catisune says 'What of this banded dress? What does it mean to you?'

Chloro attempts her best at Aes Sedai calm and a warm face. "To me it means both an ending and a
beginning in a way."

Catisune nods, encouraging the Novice to elaborate, though she leans back to survey the image blooming
on her hoop. She rummages in the tawny bag of sewing trinkets resting at her feet.

Chloro says 'On one hand will be beginning a journey of knowledge and aspiration, and on the other I
will be giving up some things women outside the tower take for granted in order to pursue another
goal.'

Catisune produces a pair of ornate scissors that she uses to snip the floss before deftly threading a
new needle.

Chloro acknowledges the Aes Sedai's handy craft. "I was never very good at needle point, however
knitting is my own personal handy craft."

Catisune taps her lip thoughtfully.

Catisune says 'You have no time for knitting just now.'

Catisune amends, with a smile, 'But you may show me your work later.'

Catisune continues her adroit needlework, and any standing over her shoulder would see the flame of
Tar Valon springing to life, dotted with a spray of russet roses.

Chloro smiles returning to her subject, "I look forward to that Catisune Sedai, The banded dress for
me means I will no longer be capable of bearing sons to fight against the shadow, However it does
mean I can help girls be a blight in the darkones eye."

Catisune leans back in her chair after a long moment of listening.

Catisune says 'That do be a hard lesson to learn, child.'

Catisune says 'But worth it in the learning, yes, for we also learn something about ourselves.'

Chloro smiles warmly, "I have learned much about myself since being here, enough to know that I may
never stop learning."

Catisune 's eyes nearly gleam at this last, 'Let us hope not. For there is always more to learn, and
n we stop -- we die.'

Catisune says 'Excuse me briefly, child.'

Catisune stands, depositing her hoop in her chair seat.

Chloro says 'Yes Aes Sedai.'

Study of the Brown Ajah
Tall, arched windows in the northern wall open to a balcony, providing a
choice view of the Erinin as it flows south from the Borderlands. Half the
seating in the room is drawn up around the windows, showing that the
occupants appreciate the panorama. The remaining seats are drawn up in
circles of six to eight, allowing Brown Sisters to discuss the furtherance
of knowledge, or new theories in an informal atmosphere. Colorful wall
hangings depicting still lifes decorate the pale white walls.

Zone: White Tower Upper Floors
Door south: door
A large desk made of fine, thick wood stands across the room from here.
Chloro Arovni the Wearied Novice is standing here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Brown Sister sits here pensively.
Danelle Sedai, sitter for the Brown Ajah stands here deep in thought.

Catisune gestures at the door with her hand.

The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.

Catisune resumes her seat after padding across the room, several books in tow.

Catisune is carrying:
a book on shienaran poetry
a book of knitting patterns of the third age
a book on treatises of the one power

Catisune says 'Typically I am leery of lending books to Novices, but you have demonstrated a keen mind
today, Chloro.'

Chloro sits back in her chair hands clasped in her lap and crosses her ankles.

Chloro blushes at the compliment.

Catisune says 'But if I find so much as a spot on any of these books, you will not sit for a month or stop
washing dishes for a week.'

Catisune gives a book on shienaran poetry to Chloro.
Catisune gives a book of knitting patterns of the third age to Chloro.
Catisune gives a book on treatises of the one power to Chloro.

Chloro says 'Thank you Aes Sedai, I promise to covet the volume as if it where my own.'

Catisune stacks the books in the Novice's lap rather abruptly.

Catisune says 'We shall discuss some of these later.'

Catisune looms over Chloro after handing the Novice the books, flipping the book of Shienaran poetry
to a marked page near the middle.

Chloro catches the books almost deftly glances over their titles."Thank you for these boons of
knowledge."

Catisune points to the words, but does not speak them, 'A drum with no head. / A pump with no grip. /
A song with no voice. / Still, it is mine. / Still, it is mine.'

Catisune assumes a didactic, lecturing tone, 'Anasai left this poem with instructions that it must
only be recited aloud when one felt the time was right.'

Chloro looks over the words carefully attempting to process them.

Catisune says 'Will we ever find the time? Who can say.'

Catisune resumes her seat, taking care not to squash the hoop.

Chloro says 'Perhaps the time comes when one does not expect it?'

Catisune nods at her.

Catisune says 'Perhaps.'

Catisune says 'What questions do you have for an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah and a Sitter in the Hall of
the White Tower, child?'

Chloro opens her pouch carefully nestling the volumes in, "I shall keep them safe till they are
returned."

Chloro says 'That very subject Catisune Sedai. I am attempting to meet with a member of each Ajah.
IF I am to be bonded further to the tower should Sheriam Sedai view me ready I would like to know if
its societies. '

Catisune says 'We are the stewards of knowledge, for what is lost to the White Tower is lost to the
world.'

Chloro says 'Accepted Tolza spoke of the Brown Ajah, however with many things in life, Hearing from
an actual member might prove more knowledge forward.'

Catisune nods at her.

Chloro says 'I have heard, thought this could be simple gossip that the Brown ajah also studies
weaves of earth. I am not as strong in earth as others and it does intrigue me.'

Catisune says 'We study all things, though not weaves of earth especially.'

Chloro nodds adding that to the gossip list in her mind.

Catisune says 'What other Aes Sedai have you met with?'

Chloro says 'So far Alosia of the Red, Relena of the Green, and Eldreina of the Yellow.'

Catisune says 'And what do you make of these other Ajahs?'

Catisune adjusts her skirts delicately. She seems to have lost interest in the hoop.

Chloro considers the question and responds after carefully thinking over her words. "I view them as
similar in their nature, however it appears the members are what make them different."

Catisune murmurs, 'Wiser than some of my sisters.'

Catisune winks, or perhaps she got something in one of her large, watery eyes.

Chloro blushes a bit her cheeks almost the same color as her hair."I try to think outside the box
Aes Sedai."

l chloro
Slim and tall she greets you with exotic gray eyes and cascading locks of wavey red hair, the bangs
held back by a white satin ribbon to keep her face in full view.

Chloro is in excellent condition.
Chloro is healthy.

Catisune says 'Where are you from?'

Catisune cants her head to the side, ever the bird.

Chloro says 'Kandor Aes sedai, that close to the blight daily life is viewed as a battle field.'

Catisune says 'It encroaches ever further, yes.'

Catisune says 'Let us hope we are enough when the time comes, child.'

Chloro says 'Queen Ethenelle seems to think so in her favorite phrase.'

Catisune taps her lip thoughtfully.

Catisune says 'And what is that?'

Chloro clears her throat reciting the words "What we have left at home is enough to defend, short of
the Trolloc wars coming again."

Catisune nods at her.

Catisune blinks again, settling her hands in her lap, 'If you could study anything, any topic, what
would you choose? What drives you, child?'

Chloro says 'Coming from the north, and learning what I have. Politics fascinate me to no end. The
south consistently seems a powder keg of its own making.'

Catisune says 'It is an unlucky thing that my sisters of the Gray have been gone so long on visits of
diplomacy. There are few about of late.'

Chloro nods in commiseration,"I have read of Aes Sedai from all Ajah's being diplomats. "

Chloro says 'In my latest studies I have even learned of Aes Sedai's ascending to thrones.'

Catisune nods at her.

Catisune says 'In times past, and perhaps some day again. Is the turn of the Wheel a circle?'

Catisune says 'Look at me. I sound like a White.'

Catisune smiles indulgently with ageless features.

Chloro smiles "Similar, but their members different."

Catisune says 'We are Aes Sedai first, yes, servants of all.'

Catisune says 'And we all must serve as we do be called.'

Catisune says 'I wonder how you will be called, Chloro.'

Chloro says 'To quote you Catisune Sedai. "The wheel weaves as the wheel wills."'

Catisune taps her lip thoughtfully.

Catisune says 'You do be a quick study.'

Chloro nods affirmingly. "I have a knack for big picture thinking and noticing patterns. It is often
more of a burden than a help."

Catisune muses, her lips barely twitching, 'For now.'

Chloro says 'I will have to trust you on that Aes Sedai.'

Catisune says 'What other questions? What other questions?'

Catisune says this with an air of impatience, though her eyes sparkle.

Chloro smiles perhaps finally feeling a modicum of comfort. "If you could change one thing about the
Tower, what would it be?"

Catisune nods after a moment, 'I would move the library closer.'

Chloro smiles chuckling inside "A knowledge worthy answer. If you could impress upon someone one
thing they should learn while here or from the Brown Ajah what would it be?

Catisune 's eyes are faraway, somewhere along the Erinin, which they trail out the Ajah study windows.

Catisune says 'So long as we do not depend on the facts entirely, incomplete knowledge is better than
complete ignorance.'

Chloro contemplates the statement muddling it about in her mind."For the knowledge can be completed
perhaps at a later time?"

Catisune says 'It is the wisdom of an ancient Brown, Yasicca Cellaech. Trust in knowledge but perhaps
yourself first, for there is always more to learn, yes.'

Catisune says 'I grow tired, child. You do be dismissed.'

Catisune waves off-handedly toward the door.

Catisune feels the flows of saidar coursing through her body.

Catisune gestures with her hand.

The door smoothly swings open.

Chloro deeply curtsey's to the Aes Sedai near.

Chloro says 'Yes Aes Sedai, Rest well.'

Chloro leaves south. vv
