Playing with Fire and porcelain

Callesa Sedai summons Navani to bring her some tea and profits from the opportunity for a small channeling exercise.

Callesa gestures with her hand.

The doors smoothly swing open.

Callesa glances at the door and calls, 'You may enter.'

The carveddoor is opened from the other side.


Navani has arrived from the south.


Short but stocky young woman with long braided dark hair and an infectious smile, she has a cool
look in her bright green eyes as she meets your gaze.

Navani is in excellent condition.

Navani is using:

Navani curties to all in sight.

Callesa nods briefly and puts aside her paperwork

Navani takes a steaming hot cup of tea over to Callesa Sedai.

Callesa says 'The door, child. The corridors are a bit chilly these days.'

Navani says 'Be careful, it is still very hot!'

Navani closes the carveddoor.

Callesa feels the flows of saidar coursing through your body.

Callesa channels a very thin thread of Air and cools her tea to the perfect temperature

Callesa sips her tea.

Callesa says 'Tell me, child, what have you been studying lately?'

Navani says 'I have been studying quite a bit in the library, a broad spectrum of topics really from
the Trolloc Wars to the animals and plants of the world.'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa takes a thick notebook from the corner of her desk and opens it at a page with
your name at the top.

Navani straightens her dress and adjusted her posture, standing up as tall as she can make her five
foot stature.

Callesa says 'Yes, the librarians have reported a healthy amount of books being borrowed by you. And
returned in perfect condition.'

Navani says 'Indeed, I have become very fond of the library and all the marvels it offers.'

Callesa peers closely at Navani, trying to figure her out.

Navani says 'When I am not traveling that is.'

Callesa says 'While it may sound a bit peculiar from a Brown, your studies are however about more than
reading.'

Callesa smiles slightly.

Callesa says 'What of the One Power? What have you been working on?'

Navani nods in agreement.

Navani says 'The eight depository... with so many weaves I have been reading up on a few new ones I
am unfamiliar with.'

Navani says 'I have yet to travel by myself, so I am particularly interested in that knowledge.'

Callesa spins a minuscule thread of Fire into Air and heats the quickly cooling tea.

Navani says 'I have also been practicing my fire and ice weaves on raiding trollocs and my support
weaves in Fal Dara.'

Callesa sips her tea

Callesa nods at Navani.

Callesa drinks the rest of the tea and puts the cup on the desk

Navani says 'I was even able to call down strikes of lightning during the last storm!'

Callesa nods in agreement.

Callesa says 'Excellent. Now how about something a bit more subtle.'

Navani says 'I have requested to become an apprentice of the Blue Ajah and have been given a task.'

Callesa says 'Can you make fire inside this cup?'

Callesa senses Navani connecting to the True Source.

Callesa nods curtly and focuses on your channeling

Navani takes the cup and sets it down on the nearby table before channeling a small flame that
emerges from the lip of the cup.

Callesa channels several strands of Air and quickly moves all the paper from her desk to
Danelle Sedai's.

Callesa nods in agreement.

Navani gets a water skin from a backpack.

Navani drinks water from a water skin.

Callesa says 'Keep going. I'd like to see some more Fire. Heat the cup as much as you can without
breaking it.'

Navani focuses on the cup and weaves of air and fire leave her hand rising tall from the cup in a
straight line, in the shape of an arrow.

Callesa doesn't move a muscle while watching you, while Danelle Sedai mutters something
about fire hazard and paper.

Callesa says 'Good work, it is still intact.'

Navani curtseys before Callesa.

Callesa elegantly takes the two steps towards you and puts her hand near the cup without
touching it.

Callesa says 'And now... something harder'

Callesa gathers a few empty cups from the tables around and puts them right before you.
There are four now.

Callesa says 'Now heat them all at once.'

Navani nods curtly.

Callesa senses Navani connecting to the True Source.

Callesa says 'Look at them first, each is a bit different, different size, slightly differently thick
porcelain, oh this ugly one is ceramic.'

Callesa says 'Heat them all up at once, without breaking any.'

Navani studies each cup before weaving together multiple streaks of air and fire, running toward
each of the 4 cups where a small flame appears, leaving each cup with a rising steam coming from the
top.

Callesa starts nodding slowly, while the first and previously heated cup makes a silent
but clear "crack" sound.

Callesa arches an eyebrow.

Callesa says 'Overall good work, Accepted. Four weaves handled with precision are nothing easy to handle.'

Navani says 'Thank you Aes Sedai.'

Callesa says 'Why would you say you broke this one cup in particular?'

Navani says 'It would seem that the flame I sent to that cup was too large for what was needed.'

Navani says 'I must learn to dial in my weaves, using only what is necessary, in order to conserve my energy.'

Callesa says 'It seemed to be just the same as before. Is there a different explanation?'

Navani says 'As it was already heated previously, it did not need as much flame as the other 3.'

Callesa says in agreement.

Callesa says 'Yes, the porcelain absorbed the first Weave just fine. Yet, it was not ready for the same
amount of energy again. It had no time to cool down. And who knows, perhaps some weaker parts were
left permanently more fragile.'

Navani says 'Indeed, that makes perfect sense.'

Navani says 'May I ask a question Aes Sedai?'

Callesa says 'Doing the same thing twice doesn't always bring the same result twice. We do change what we
play with. Any material can suddenly be more fragile. Porcelain, or a mind.'

Callesa says 'Of course, Navani'

Callesa smile at Navani.

Navani says 'It is off topic.'

Callesa says 'Just ask.'

Navani says 'Kathrine Sedai gave me a task, to find out as much as I could about her and any other
Blue Aes Sedai, with the exception of Keshara.'

Navani says 'Is there anything you would be able to tell me?'

Navani says 'The Blue Ajah seems to keep so many secrets, it is difficult to obtain any solid
information.'

Callesa says 'Not much, I'm afraid. I have been spending a lot of time on my travels lately, and in
general don't meddle much in Tower politics. At least as little as is reasonably possible.'

Callesa nod at Navani.

Navani says 'Understandable, thank you for humoring me anyway.'

Callesa says 'Were I in your place, I'd start with the Archives (forums). Find notes about their work
from the past. And take note of the names included. Perhaps that will give you a hint on who to ask.'

Callesa says 'And Navani, please take the dishes and shards to the kitchens.'

Navani says 'Ah yes that is a fine idea.'

Navani give a graceful curtsy to all in the room.

Callesa sits back to her chair and opens her notebook.

Navani hurries over to clean up all the dishes from the table.
