I realized my solution will not fix the problem because the timer will continue to run on a 62 second loop instead of being stopped/restarted. Poop!

You could try just setting a "flag" variable (i.e. true/false). Call it something like should_timer_reset (you can name it w/e you like) Set it to true initially. If text in the game triggers a tick reset, set should_timer_reset to false. In your timer function, check the value of should_timer_reset...

define your alias as: ^ep$
This tells Mudlet to only accept 'ep' as the alias, and no other characters. This is good practice for all of your aliases.
In short, '^' means 'start here' and '$' means 'end here'

This was actually a really cool idea. You forgot the "self" socials, though! Some of them you can do to yourself, like bonk.
