Re: Failed weaves

This reminds me of a weaves success study I peer reviewed with another Accepted where what was being measured was successes of status weaves under certain variables and controls. At the time it seemed like weaves were failing more frequently than not. When she plotted her numbers in a distribution s...

Re: Failed weaves

Not sure if the random number algorithm in the MUD code was customized or if its using the default from GNU libs. Its not a truly random generator but is rather optimized to achieve a mathematical distribution of numbers over a large population set. It might be possible for it to get a funky run of ...

Re: Mud coding language

So I asked a little around the mud to get Ideas, and I think I am going to go with javascript. But I didn't ask one question. What is the coding for this mud done in? Mmmmmm, yum. Sounds like a juicy Node.js project. If my memory is correct, the original CircleMUD used a single worker thread that r...

Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.

I tried looking for the relevant links, but couldn't find them. You will have to do with a short version as I don't have the energy to go into this in depth. The easiest example maybe is that when on a map you have to stretch out room connections to make things fit, there is a shortage of rooms som...

Re: Feedback requested: Far Madding zone changes.

The change is probably a good compromise. I agree that it was onerous to go through OR around the city. I personally disliked that it required a lot more moves to traverse and that it required a huge number of moves to go around. But one thing I did like is that it was true to Far Maddings reason fo...

Re: Wotmud Concept Art

Sketch of Tar Valon is wonderful. I wish I had half your creativity and talent! The armor-wearing Accepted made me laugh. The black leather boots that look a little like combat boots are a nice touch and match the dress. It is exactly what I see in my mind when I think of an armored (very young) Acc...

Re: RP Logs - Feast of Lights, Cairhien (everything is now posted)

Crenna- Thank you for hosting the event and preparing/posting the RP logs. The party was a fun! The timing is also good, being around the time of New Year celebrations in different parts of the RL world (and the Festival of Lights being on the last and first day of the wheel of time calendar). Maybe...

Re: rules

It happens to me several times a week that LS can't put up a fight in DS pk because there's a channeler and/or gaidin around and I can't group with them. This means LS ends up going in and pk ends, leaving several people bored. Imo for instances like those, we should sooner sacrifice rp to playabil...

Re: Tech help: New computer and freezing

When you saw the ping timeouts recently, was that only to Google or did you also have a ping running to your router? I'd recommend checking a ping to the router alongside a ping to Google just to make sure. If both spike at the same time then it's definitely going to be an issue local to the comput...

Re: Tech help: New computer and freezing

If you tried a different client but with the same results, then that removes the client as the cause. That's progress. I'm still thinking its network related. 100 pings would probably take a minute or so to complete. That may not be a long enough window to capture periods of network degradation that...
