Highly recommend always always checking exits before moving in the ways, even if you know them.

The /only/ time not doing this is justified is if you already know the layout and are going to die if you don’t.

Many DTs have a % chance of survival, in the ways this shunts you out into another room in the ways.

Check your exits, never walk into a blackened span.

Yup, not a bug. DTs will send you randomly to one of the rooms that lead into that DT. In the case of the Ways, this can be almost any room. You leapt to safety! But not necessarily where you came from.

I wonder if it's not just a Ways thing. Maybe other deathtraps with multiple entrances/ exits do the same?

Don't think it's a bug, but maybe not common knowledge that surviving the DT check will move you somewhere else in the ways.

I was told this was a bug, so I am posting it! It cost me two mauls! Saved on DT, then was transported to different ways room. Then DTed because I thought I would be in the same room!
