Chayla's Herbs
This tiny shop smells wonderfully of the dried herbs and fresh green plants
that are the herbalist's trade. A small window in the north wall looks out
onto Feiran Street and is decorated with hanging stalks of various herbs. A
sturdy wooden counter separates this half of the room from Chayla's work
area in the rear.

Chayla hangs some dogwort to dry in the window.
Chayla hangs some dogwort to dry in the window.
Chayla says 'What do you be needing?'
Herron strokes his beard thoughtfully.
The Starling has arrived at the docks.
Chayla returns from her break, re-opening the store.
Lucie looks around quietly.
Herron says 'You will need something strong, to ease the pain of setting.'
Lucie wanders toward the window, watching the activity on the street.
Lucie sniffs.
Lucie wipes her nose on her already moist sleeve.
A low resonant horn blast fills the city as a merchant ship leaves the harbour.
Herron whispers to Chayla who peers at Lucie and beckons her forth, frowning at her bandaged arm. 'No healall left, m'lord. Might try an elixir of five-finger and crimsonthorn.'
Herron looks at Lucie.
Herron nods in agreement.
Lucie startles and moves toward the counter.
Herron says 'That will do. Not too much crimsonthorn for her though, she's been drinking.' Chayla shakes her head. 'Oh no m'lord, never too much of that. Can paralyze in high doses, and she is a slight thing.'
Lucie frowns.
A wealthy nobleman leaves west.
lo chayla
Chayla the herbalist gives you a warm smile as she chops up herbs and
measures doses of medicines. She is a small, plain woman with mousy brown
hair and almond colored eyes. She is tidily dressed and keeps her hair
pulled back in a loose bun.
Chayla is in excellent condition.
Lucie sniffs in disdain at the room.
A wealthy nobleman has arrived from the west.

Herron takes the small glass bottle from Chayla, who busies herself by clearing a space on a nearby table.
Lucie briefly eyes the nobleman's purse.
Lucie glances back to Chayla.
Lucie ponders.
Herron hands you the elixir and says, 'It will be bitter, but you have to drink it all, and quickly for the full effects. It will numb you, and your tongue may slacken, but that is all well.'
Lucie says 'I have to..drink this?'
Lucie says 'I thought you were looking at my arm!'
A wealthy nobleman leaves west.
Lucie 's face twists with disgust.
Herron mutters to himself in complete disgust.
Lucie mumbles 'Don't see what my belly has to do with my arm...'
Herron says 'Blood and ashes, girl, drink the flaming stuff!'
Lucie squeaks!
Herron bites his tongue from cursing you like an ignorant squadman.
Lucie gulps down the elixir.
Lucie leans over and dry-heaves.
Herron says 'Keep it down!'
Lucie grimaces and grunts 'That is... the worst.'
A low resonant horn blast fills the city as a merchant ship leaves the harbour.
An Illian Companion has arrived from the west.
Lucie glares at you 'You certain you are not trying to poison me?'
An Illian soldier leaves west.
Lucie thinks a moment... 'Or sedate me!'
Herron moves you over to the cleared table as Chayla produces a splint with leather braces and straps spilling off of it, a crank set on one end. 'A mechanic in the Perfumed Quarter designed this.' She informs with a bit of excitement. 'Place your hand in the cuff, girl.'
The Starling has arrived at the docks.
Lucie backs away quickly, bumping into the door frame.
Lucie shakes her head.
Lucie says 'No. No way.'
Herron rolls his eyes at your complaints. 'I would have never thought you for a Borderlander. For all your complaints, I'd say Cairhienin, or maybe one of those foppish Tairen ladies.'
Lucie looks at Herron, pleading. 'That looks like something I would see in the dungeons!'
Lucie whines 'You can't be serious!'
Herron says 'A bit of pain now, and it will spare the tenfold you will receive when some poor bloody surgeon has to amputate your flaming arm.'
Herron says 'The elixir should dull it to almost nothing.'
Lucie slowly moves towards Chayla's device of torture.
Herron says 'I've marched with broken bones and wounds so wide I feared my insides spilling, now don't whine over a fracture you got on some cobblestone.'
Lucie tells Herron 'did you take off the bandages? Did I miss that?'
Herron tells Lucie '*grumble* no! i was getting to that.'
Lucie bristles 'How do you know it's only a fracture!'
Lucie says 'You could be doing more harm than good.'
Lucie says 'Also... I'm no soldier.'
Lucie's eyes begin to spit fire.
Lucie says 'Don't treat me like one.'
Lucie eyes the contraption again.
Herron watches with keen interest as Chayla applies her craft, removing the bandages carefully, layer by layer, grumbling about the shoddy work. 'Just a greenstick fracture, at that. Needs barely a nudge.' She takes your arm a bit roughly, pressing it onto the cuff before harnessing your wrist, and applies the crank wheel, which vises your arm in the splint and straitens the bone in a quick snap.
Lucie shrieks.
Lucie loses consciousness.
Herron pats your shoulder. 'There there, lass, just a snap and that's all there is to it.
Herron looks at Lucie.
Ann has arrived from the west.
Ann looks at Chayla.
Herron says 'Bloody ashes, a simpering Tairen child if there ever was one.'
is ann
Ann Chalinda, the Queen's Blessing Inn maid |Wisdom Applicant| is a level 26 human.
This pretty young maid has olive skin, wavy long black hair and haunted,
dark eyes. She's a common sight in the Queen's Blessing, since she works
there. She looks sickly and malnourished, but she keeps working tirelessly.
Ann covers her mouth and coughs lightly.
Ann leaves west.
Herron frowns over his shoulder at the intrusion before shaking you to awake. 'Snap out of it girl.'
Lucie moans softly.
Lucie 's eyes open slowly, somewhat glazed.
Lucie beckons you close with her free hand.
Herron looks over at Chayla who shakes her head and hands you a cup of tea. 'Drink this.' She tells you, 'I was saving this concoction for when the boys needed their ground tooth pulled.' Before she hums to herself lively, undoing the straps and releasing your arm, placing it in a sling she had prepared during your incessant whining.
Herron says 'What is it, lass?'
Herron leans in close.
Lucie whispers 'Ale...please...'
Herron snorts loudly.
Lucie grins wryly.
Herron says 'You'll get no bloody thing from me, and from the looks of your meals lately, you need to focus more of your coin on getting fed and living right than poisoning yourself.'
Lucie blinks her eyes drearily.
Lucie mumbles 'I feel funny.'
The Starling has arrived at the docks.
Chayla hustles about the room, getting ready for new business.
Herron reaches in his pocket and hands you a a few silver marks. 'Here, this will be enough for a few nights at the Badger, tell Nieda it is for me and she will put in for some hot meals free of charge.'
The dull clangs of metal being worked spreads through the city as the weaponsmith creates another blade.
Lucie looks down at the coins.
Chayla chops a piece of healall root into thin slices, and put them into a glass jar with clear liquid.
Chayla places the jar on a shelf, then turns towards the counter with a smile for you.
Lucie mumbles 'Just like when we met.'
Herron says 'I want you to be focused on some sort of gainful employment when I next see you though, not bumbling from here to Amador and getting your flaming arm smashed.'
Herron says 'Aye, handing you my money seems to be a recurring theme in this flaming acquaintance.'
Lucie lifts her head and with a dazed stare, smiles invitingly.
Lucie is carrying:
a small keg
Lucie loudly whispers 'This enough to stay at the fan?'
Lucie snickers softly.
A member of the Illian watch has arrived from the west.
Herron looks you up and down, frowning to himself. 'Featherbrained.'
Lucie says 'So... no then?'
Lucie says 'Drat.'
Herron says 'You'll be in no such place! Fool girl. Bloody Miryenne would eat you for dinner if you entered there. I will tell them not to see you in the door, if it comes to that.'
Lucie giggles 'but you said gainful employment.'
Chayla walks away from the merchandise to take a break.
Herron mutters to himself in complete disgust.
Herron says 'I'll hear no such talk... there must be something you are good at, a craft of sorts.'
Herron eyes you dubiously.
Lucie grins 'I think thath thith ith making me thilly.'
Lucie blinks her eyes innocently.
Chayla returns from her break, re-opening the store.
Lucie glances at the empty elixir cup.
Herron takes out a long-stemmed pipe, muttering to himself as he clenches it between his teeth, before cringing at Chayla's glare. 'Not in here, m'lord.' She says flatly, before he nods and takes you out the door.
Herron puts the emptied elixir on the tabletop before guiding you outside.
Herron leaves west.
Lucie follows Herron.
Feiran Street

Easing the Badger
The common room has sawdust on the floor, and tabac smoke hangs in the air.
It smells of wine, and fish cooking in the kitchen and a heavy, flowered
perfume. The exposed beams of the high ceiling are rough-hewn and age-dark.
Benches, tables and stools fill most of the room. A staircase at the back

something of the canals too.

Lucie is now a member of Herron's group.
Herron has disbanded the group.
