A Chance Encounter in Fal Dara

by Isela » Wed Jul 10, 2024 10:27 am

Summary: Accepted Isela, on an errand to Fal Dara from the White Tower, stops in the center courtyard and happens upon the Child of Light Eadmund.

POV: Isela
Main Character: Eadmund

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Center of the Courtyard
Across the courtyard before you stands the true Keep of Fal Dara. This is the
residence of Lord Agelmar, whose family has ruled this city for generations.
The courtyard stretches off to the sides. The Keep's stables are off to the
west, and the guard barracks oversee the courtyard from the eastern end.
A stout wooden barrel stands nearby.
The waters of a blue-veined marble fountain pour forth here.
A hanging lantern lights the path.
An eager Child of the Light is here.
Child Eadmund the Under-lieutenant is standing here, riding a Domani razor.
A Shienaran guard patrols here, watching you carefully.
A Shienaran guard is lying here, mortally wounded.
An Illuminator's assistant stands here carrying some colored tubes.
A gray haired weaponsmaster stands nearby.

Isela arrives from the south, riding a bloodstock stallion.

Eadmund watches Isela from a distance.

Isela scowls.

Isela says 'I didn't realize they let vermin into Fal Dara.'

Isela leads her horse around the far side of the fountain.

Eadmund keeps a blank face but squints his eyes.

Eadmund says 'And I thought Fal Dara's guards killed Darkfriends on site!'

Isela taps a finger to her lips in thought.

Eadmund says 'I rest my weapon today because I respect Fal Dara but don't get any funny ideas. I will use it to defend myself if I have to.'

Eadmund stops using a wicked knife bladed axe.

Isela says 'Oh, don't mind me. I won't be staying long.'

Isela pins Eadmund with a look.

Eadmund says 'It is not too late for you you know? You can repent and come to the Fortress of the Light.'

Eadmund says 'We have accomodations for your type in the basement..'

Eadmund says 'We can help cleanse you of the darkness that flows in your veins.'

Isela smirks.

Isela says 'The only darkness around here comes from the north, child.'

Isela leans down to fill her mug gently from the fountain, then takes a sip.

Eadmund says 'Exactly! The Dark One's minions, but they are only that. Minions. Your abuse of the One Power means to break the remaining seals and release him from his prison.'

Isela arches an eyebrow.

Eadmund says 'It is tainted! Can you not see that?'

Eadmund says 'The precious White Tower is nothing but a cell for Darkfriends to unite and plot against the world.'

Isela says 'I'm not sure you're aware, child, but I train with the Red Ajah, and you have your facts backward.'

Isela says 'We seek to guard AGAINST the abuse of the One Power.'

Isela sits a little taller in her saddle.

Isela says 'Only men have to deal with the taint. Maybe open a book once in a while and broaden your horizons.'

Eadmund says 'I don't meddle in Darkfriend politics or colors. Those who pull the strings in the shadows? They deserve to be brought into the Light by the Children of the Light!'

Eadmund says 'All must answer to the Light!'

Isela waves a hand dismissively. 'So passionate, yet so far off the mark.'

Isela says 'All that wasted energy. I feel sorry for you.'

Eadmund looks at Isela with a twinge of zeal in his eyes.

Isela says 'Perhaps since we're in Fal Dara, put some of that strength into the fight against the Shadow, instead of those who protect the world from it.'

Eadmund says 'Through hard work and constant practice, I am ready to face the Darkness wherever it congregates to protect this world.'

Isela says 'Then it seems we are aligned.'

Isela smiles sweetly at Eadmund, but it never touches her eyes.

Eadmund shivers at the smile.

Eadmund says 'I don't think we align. But I will keep an eye on you and yours closely.'

Isela says 'Well, if you must...'

Eadmund goes to fill his flask in the fountain but choses to trust the stream water within instead.

Isela says 'Try to do it in the daylight. For a man who scoffs at those in the shadows, you certainly like to creep there yourself.'

Eadmund grins evilly.

Eadmund says 'A man of many talents one must be to take on the Darkfriends of the world.'

Isela says 'Indeed. Try to use them wisely.'

Eadmund watches the Accepted closely and nods.

Isela gently guides her horse with her knees, picking up her reins.

Isela leaves south riding a bloodstock stallion.
