The darkening light above the small village shows bare minimum amount of light on the road as Alison is riding up to it.
She glances down at her dark pants and darkened shirt, her face is hidden by a hood, but she knows it doesnt look like her own face. She made sure of it. Her hands clenches the reigns of the horse she is riding.
"I can sense you, Wilkerson. Where are you?" she ponders loudly. This time of the morning, there is almost no one on the large road. Her travelling over the last year has taken her from the North all down the coast past Bandar Eban. Each village she catches a wiff of his trail, but then it dies down again.
"Almost 50 years we have bonded and this is the longest he has been gone." She remembers talking to Carlinya sedai. Her worries and fears hidden behind the smooth mask of her aes sedai face. She heard there was a new Aes sedai appointed a few days ago. A new brown ajah sister ready for the journey ahead into the life of being aes sedai.
Alison smirks at a small hound sitting next to the road. He looks well fed as she passes him. She has never been a serious fan of dogs. More a fan of cats as those creatures tend to look after themselves some more. Here she is travelling alone. Finding answers that should be found. It always makes her wonder why some of her warders dissapear on her. Is it because im not emotional for them?
At the inn, her eyes take in the sickle signage. The door is made of stern oak and is heavy. She ties her horse up outside and sit on the steps. In a few hours the morning light will wake the village and she can start questioning, discreetly. This is the closest shes come to finding him in all this time. What is he up to. He is alive, that much she knows. The bond is masked from his side.
This is what drove her on the this year long quest. Who could mask a gaidins bond from his aes sedai? Why would they even consider doing so. Are their intentions good or bad?
"Talking to yourself?" asks a voice behind her. She glances back at the dark skinned gleeman. His own clothes are less than gariss this early in the morning.
"It is the best way to understand a puzzle, gleeman." she quips back. Her back is aching and her left boot is riding up her calves. She scratches at the long blond hair trailing down under her cloak. It has grown in the last year. She has not had time to cut it back to its original pixy cut.
He sits on her left, looking at her askance. " An aes sedai not wanting to be found. Do you have any idea how hard it is to track you when you dont want to be tracked?"
She frowns. She didnt think the stage makup she was wearing could fool anyone. Even another aes sedai coming close should be fooled. Her new trick she discovered. Hiding her one power from other sisters. Or those that can view a woman that can channel. It helps to obseve seanchan leashed ones.
"Why are you tracking me?" she flips the hood down. Gently brushing out hair to make her feel less itchy. A bath in a spring or a tub will be greatly appreciated. She glances at the aged gleeman. He seems familiar somehow.
"Its a long tale, ali. May i call you Ali." he asks.
She nods, she has forgotten her child name. Last time someone spoke that was 150 years ago. Her then gaidin who just stopped wanting to be a gaidin. That was one of the hardest bonds she has ever released in her existance. The other one, being less of a white ajah sitter. She cant do those duties and find her warder. The man is in danger.
"Well ali, my tale involves escaped damane, some things happening with the athanmiere as well as not aes sedai. The ones you folk dont talk about."
She hides a shiver. Black ajah or just forgotten aes sedai. Women that dont want to be who they are supposed to be.
"I am looking for wilkerson. Something is wrong with his bond. Its like its masked."
The gleeman nods and just sits with her. This is going to be a long journey and she doesnt know how it will end. She has never had this kind of problem with a gaidin before. If the man found a aes sedai to mask his bond, then said sedai should just find a way to break it. Either way, she needs answers and where ever he is, Light willing she will find him.
As if in response to her darker thoughts, a lightning bolt strikes a tree a few miles away. The early morning bustle of the Town stirs her from her thoughts.
