This sort of thing can happen with fade corpses as well. Seems to happen when items and mobs/interactables have the same keyword. Can also happen with items and doors in rooms, wells, etc.

The bear seems to be sharpening his claws on a nearby piece of wood. He seems
disinclined to tangle with anyone, although looks might be decieving.

An angry black bear looks pretty hurt.
An angry black bear is beat.
It weighs 3.0 pounds.
Dodging bonus: 3, Parrying bonus: 9, Moves: 0.
It is in pristine condition.

When I look at the bear, it also shows stats for a black, silver-embroidered cape stats that I'm wearing.
