A chair made of red oak rests next to the table. [2]
A large desk made of fine, thick wood stands across the room from here.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Red Sister stares down here nose here.
Galina Casban completely ignores you.
You curtsey to your audience.
The carveddoor is opened from the other side.
Sarinda has arrived from the east.
You sense Sarinda connecting to the True Source.
You curtsey to your audience.
Sarinda gestures and the door creaks and closes slowly.
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda sits down and rests on a stout oaken chair.
Sarinda says 'Take a seat, if it pleases the Light.'
You sit down on a stout oaken chair.
You say 'Thank you, Sarinda Sedai.'
Sarinda says 'If it pleases the Light, how have you been settling in to your new position as a Tower
Accepted?'
You say 'Things have been going well. I have been pushing myself to increase my abilities and
knowledge and in fighting up north.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda says 'Yes, so I have heard.'
Sarinda says 'Your bashing skills seem to be quite good. You have been critical at our group's
success at defeating the gholam now several times.'
Sarinda says 'I heard that you regrettably fell to a Trolloc rogue recently.'
Sarinda frowns.
You say 'That thing should never have been created. It is our responsibility to put it down whenever
we encounter it. I am happy to do my part.'
You sigh.
Sarinda comforts you.
You say 'Yes, that was my overconfidence and letting my guard down that led to that blunder. '
Sarinda says 'The rogues are always the trickiest of the Father of Storms' armies, sometimes even
more than the Fades.'
Sarinda says 'You are allowed to make mistakes, and you will continue to do so.'
Sarinda says 'And likely many times beyond earning the shawl I expect you will wear one day.'
You say 'Being critical of myself is how those mistakes are corrected.'
Sarinda says 'Did I tell you about how I was backstabbed once at Commander Ragan's room?'
You say 'If the Light wills it, Sarinda Sedai.'
Sarinda says 'It might even have been shortly after earning the shawl, not before. I forget the
specifis.'
You say 'You have not, what happened?'
Sarinda says 'Well, I made the mistake of thinking the room was non-hideable, when it is in fact a
hard to hide but not impossible to hide room.'
Sarinda says 'And I was trying to let the rogue miss on me so I could finish it off with a
Fireball.'
Sarinda says 'Suffice to say, I miscalculated that time.'
Sarinda smirks.

What's bothering you?
You say 'That is unfortunate.'
Sarinda says 'If it pleases the Light, I wish to share something that I think you might find
valuable.'
Bena leans forward in her chair.
You say 'Please.'
Sarinda says 'Many women of your station do not wear the same equipment you do. You are very stocky,
and your physicality intimidates others. You face a different path to aiding the war against the
Shadow than I by the nature of your physical attributes.'
Sarinda says 'There are some who might criticize you for this.'
Sarinda says 'And even some of the Shadowspawn smart enough to talk in their twisted ways might try
to demoralize you or call you weak.'
Sarinda says 'But I have seen the strength you bear, and know that being different can be good.'
Sarinda says 'In most of that log you shared, I saw you out bashing the Trollocs, and weaving them
rapidly.'
Sarinda smiles warmly.
You say 'I have noticed a certain looking down on a channeler that goes into battle with heavier
armor.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda says 'As you grow into your station, it will become more and more imperative that you carry
yourself exactly like an Aes Sedai would in the face of such criticism or taunting.'
You say 'From both the shadow and those in the Light. It is underestimated for sure. I try not to
let that bother me, but its good to hear your encouragement.'
Sarinda says 'If you already wore the shawl of the Battle Ajah, how might you respond if someone
attempts to goad you, or taunt you after you fall in battle?'
You say 'I would ignore them. It would be and is below me to dignify that with any other type of
response.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda smiles knowingly.
Sarinda says 'When I was an apprentice in the Red Ajah, Aloisa - although not my mentor - gave me
the single most advice that helped me grow into the woman I am today.'
You say 'I have not met her, but I would appreciate gaining from her advice.'
Sarinda says 'She said that I must believe in my heart that I am worthy of the shawl, of the Red
Ajah, and must go into battle with that mindset as my armor. And I must learn to gain the strength
of the water, not of hardened earth. That is to say, I had to learn that no matter how many times I
fell and was left for dead, I had to learn to let it wash over me, and simply choose to stand up
again, and become better for it.'
Sarinda says 'And I fell in combat. Horribly. Repeatedly.'
Sarinda blushes.
Sarinda says 'But, the more it happened, the more I learned to survive, to avoid the mistakes I had
made, and to grow a reputation as one worthy of the shawl and as a warrior.'
Sarinda says 'I know that there are others with an even fiercer reputation as I have. Lisette comes
to mind as one I deeply respect.'
Bena sits back and furrows her brow in concentration.
Sarinda says 'But if it pleases the Light, do not let your failures define you, but to mold you
instead into the woman you will become.'
You say 'I hear you Sarinda Sedai and I can see the pit traps of not following these words.'
Sarinda says 'I noticed in reviewing your logs that in several cases, you were able to bash one
Trolloc and were just about to weave a Fireball when another came in and interrupted you with its
weapon. I am not sure of the best way to counter that, but seek advice from your mentor and the
Greens, or another who fights like you. Verne, perhaps.'
You nod in agreement.
You say 'I changed up my tactic mid fight there.'
Sarinda says 'You could consider trying Flame Strike more often, and then add in your weapon damage.
But that is harder if you are using a weapon that has lower melee damage.'
You say 'And switched to faster weaves.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda says 'Yes, I saw that.'
You say 'Though, I did error in weaving the flamestrikes on the beat bearhands.'
Sarinda says 'I have had to adapt that tactic when using my Elemental Staff, myself, but I do not
have to worry about being interrupted nearly as much as you, nor consider bash timing as it
intersects with the combat.'
You say 'I should have woven a fireball when I have him bashed that low.'
Sarinda says 'I saw you almost had him.'
Sarinda grins evilly.
You nod in agreement.
You say 'I will speak with Verne and see if she has any advice on the matter though and speak with
Asandra Sedai.'
Sarinda says 'Now, there is one more thing that I heard a rumor of that I would like to address.
Morella raised concern that you were left for dead and stripped of your equipment, and returned
immediately to Fal Dara rather than Tar Valon to secure a new Accepted ring and dress.'
What's bothering you?
You say 'I am sad to say that I have not met Morella Sedai either.'
Sarinda says 'If it pleases the Light, tell me what your thought process was there.'
Sarinda says 'So she was not nearby to observe, then? Perhaps she was commenting from public record
only.'
You say 'Of course Sarinda Sedai. I returned to Fal Dara without my previous ring and dress because
I had a spare set in storage there. Along with a basic reequip.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
You say 'I was planning on returning straight to battle.'
Sarinda says 'Excellent. Thinking ahead, then.'
You say 'But I ran into the same rouge trolloc waiting for me and I was in need of practicing before
I went back into combat.'
Sarinda says 'I was reprimanded once, myself, for heading immediately back to Fal Dara in a very
basic gear equipment set (rekit) with no ring or dress because the city was besieged and several
Trollocs were seriously injured.'
Sarinda offers a sympathetic look. 'As I said, the rogues are the tricky ones.'
Sarinda says 'And Fal Dara really should raise the defenses in their inn.'
Sarinda tsks in vexation.
You say 'Yes, I can see how that would be addressed. I would never go about without my dress and
ring. I know I am still learning and have little to no flexibility with the rules.'
Sarinda says 'Well, then you did better than I did at least once, then.'
Sarinda flashes a wolfish grin.
You chuckle politely.
Sarinda says 'As I said before, you will make mistakes, and it is up to you to accept them
gracefully and in stride.'
Sarinda says 'But all the same, I am glad to hear that that was merely hearsay.'
You nod in agreement.
Sarinda says 'I personally think you might have more success with the clubs, in the end, or perhaps
heavy axes.'
Sarinda says 'But I will be curious to see what you favor over time.'
You say 'Oh most definitely the club. I'm just testing possibilities at the moment, but I do not
like not having fireball.'
You say 'This set up was just to see what I could do and get more comfortable with my limits in this
armor.'
Sarinda says 'Well, against so many of these Trollocs lately, virtually any weapon is going to bash
them consistently if they are wearing heavy plate mail like you. But the clubs will obviously miss
less often.'
Sarinda says 'At the expense of damage, however.'
Sarinda says 'That is where the melee damage of the weapon, especially with one or two well-timed
Flame Strikes, could outpace the damage of a Fireball.'
You say 'The constitution is the down side. They just can take more damage even if we are in the
same type of armor.'
Sarinda says 'You may also consider leaning more on the weapon, and actively holding the flows of
Warding vs Damage, for longer periods of time when your strength in saidar is higher.'
You say 'I have been toying with the idea as well.'
Sarinda says 'The Whites might be worth talking to about this, although you might find it surprising
to hear that suggestion.'
You say 'But what I have been noticing is the down time between bouts in combat.'
Sarinda says 'The Whites have the heads for arithmetic, and might be able to help you calculate the
effective constitution of wearing the heavy armor with the Warding vs Damage weave versus a regular
melee and heavy armor user.'
You say 'I posted an account of a fight yesterday that holding the weave would have been beneficial
as the fight went longer that the weave stayed in effect.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda tells you 'What are your stats again?'
You say 'I will see if I can catch Alison Sedai awake sometime. We have different schedules
unfortunately.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
Sarinda says 'I will need to practice sparring you some more, as well, I think.'
You say 'I would greatly appreciate that. I had a run in with Axxye the other day that did not go
well.'
Sarinda says 'Against a Dreadlord, I think you will need additional practice to adapt your tactics
so you can weave effectively.'
Sarinda nods in agreement.
You say 'My timing was off and couldn't get in the fight fast enough.'
Sarinda says 'He is a dangerous man. If anyone from the Father of Storms' generals can find a way to
exploit your tactics, it will be him.'
You say 'I am going to be adding slice to my set up.'
Sarinda says 'I find it to be an interesting weave, but with a very narrow and niche scope
currently.'
Sarinda says 'I wish that we could vary the flows so that they were more exacting, more draining,
upon successfully severing another's weave.'
You say 'That would be interesting.'
Sarinda says 'If it pleases the Light, would you like a spar now? Or is there something else you
wished to ask or say tonight?'
You say 'I would enjoy a spar, Sarinda Sedai.'
