Meeting Room of the Gray Ajah
Large, leaded glass windows surround the room on all sides, save the
southern where a large doorway leads out into a antechamber. The room
itself is dominated by a large wooden table around which sits at least
fifty matching chairs, something close to a record for the White Tower. In
the middle of the table are an assortment of unused parchments, quill pens
and stoppered ink jars. A small stand off to one side of the room holds a
large number of glass cups and a large pitcher of chilled water. An
inscription in fine lettering is etched upon the windows.
[ obvious exits: E ]
Zone: White Tower Upper Floors
Door east: door
A large round table built from black oak dominates the center of the room.
A silver-haired Aes Sedai sits here, reading.
A Gray Sister walks here, considering her options.
Annoura Larisen is here, weighing your words.
Chloro says 'Annoura summon Khala please'
Annoura Larisen says 'I will send my scribe to summon her, Chloro.'
Someone knocks on the carveddoor from the other side.
Chloro calls for the carveddoor to be opened.
Khala has arrived from the east.
Khala curtseys before you.
Chloro gestures at the doors with her hand.
The door silently swings shut and lock with a soft *click*.
Khala says 'Hello Chloro Sedai.'
Chloro looks to the girl in her new white dress. "Welcome to the Tower Novice."
Khala says 'Thank you.'
Chloro motions to the large round table offering the girl a seat as she takes her own in a high-backed chair to the west. "I am indeed Chloro Sedai of the Gray Ajah, and who might you be?"
Khala takes a seat in the large chair.
Khala says 'I am Khala.'
Chloro smiles warmly to put the girl at ease as she continues. "Where do you hail from Khala, which nation claims you as theirs?"
Khala says 'Murandy, I am from Murandy.'
Khala says 'Though, my mother's side is Cairhienen..'
Chloro nods and wonder's if all of the girls answers will be short. "We have had a few novices of late from that region. Please do tell me your background before coming here. What would your path in life have been if not found to be able to channel?"
Khala says 'Well, I grew up in a small village, with some skill in weaving. I suppose, I like that well enough and would have become a weaver.'
Khala says 'Though, my gran sent me here after I became... sick after a riding accident.'
Chloro nods, her cool gray eyes taking in the girls body language almost as if looking directly into her soul. "So it is the case for many when they first embrace Saidar, it can be a cruel mistress at the beginning. What was your first experience like?"
Khala says 'It was, was like I could see, hear, taste and touch everything... more intensely. The world was, different--and yet the same.'
Khala looks pensive as if trying to grasp for the proper words to describe the experience.
Chloro says 'Yes it does make you feel quite alive to have the power flowing about you. Dangerous but alive, what did Saidar cause to happen when you held it?'
Khala says 'My first experience, well, I didn't want them to put my horse down. I begged them not to.. But they said it had to be done. So when they gave me a chance to say my goodbyes and they came back, they found the leg was... mended.'
Khala says 'A few hours latter I became... unwell.'
Khala says 'My gran knew the signs, having been once trained here.. So, she sent me on to the tower.'
Chloro smiles her face calm yet slight surprise twinkles in her eye. "You are fortunate then, majority of our new initiates first encounter of Saidar was more towards the destructive power of it. The Yellow ajah will have interest in your first weaving being to heal. Though I suppose you will learn more about that as your training begins."
Chloro says 'It is good she sent you to us. What is her name?'
Khala says 'Calaway, she said she once trained here, but, failed..'
Chloro says 'I remember a girl called Calaway, many years ago. She did not fail per say, to become Aes Sedai you must be able to channel a certain amount of the one power. Her ability was not strong enough for that. So not a failure, the creator simply had another path for her. Had he not, you might not be here today."'
Khala nods in understanding.
Chloro says 'As time progresses you will learn many things you thought you knew in life, may not have been that way at all. Still, we give this lecture to all our new Initiates.'
Khala nods in agreement.
Chloro says 'What ever you may have done before coming here, is no longer over you. You start fresh and new the moment you put on novice whites. So it will be up to you, to choose, to make the new start and the path you choose to take. Do you have any questions on this or the White tower?'
Khala says 'I don't believe I have any questions that time will not answer. As I mentioned earlier. I'm learning my way around, as well as the inns and outs of who does what. And what I am expected.'
Khala says 'I am sure that will come over the next days and weeks.'
Chloro says 'Very good then, I will return you to your studies, bare in mind I will be watching progress. You are dismissed novice'
Chloro gestures with her hand.
The door smoothly swings open.
Khala curtseys before you.
Chloro says 'Light illumine you.'
Khala says 'Thank you Chloro Sedai'
